Oh man, I adore this. This is how I was introduced to Pearl Jam! Not sure if anyone mentioned this before, but apparently the story behind this is that Letterman did this joke trying to sing "why" for several nights and obviously there was no Eddie. But that night Eddie suddenly appeared! Notice how the audience only reacts when Eddie come out, it was a true surprise :) AWESOME!
