BTW for those of you who like Thrice's songwriting, Dustin Kensrue (singer/guitar) is an AMAZING solo artist. The music is kind of a cross between Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan, but he's an amazing lyricist- themes are very similar.
Thrice is one of those bands that you either love 'em or you hate 'em. I am one of the lucky ones that have been a fan since '01. Everything they do is awesome. When some bands try to explore new sounds and don't succeed, they should all try Thrice's plan.
"The sky is falling....and no one will lift their eyes to see. The sky is falling...and no one cares as long as it lands over seas." This is so true! I really hope that people truly listen to these lyrics. They are life changing.
Heard this song on a Rory Delap tribute video. Great song, looked it up immediately. Never heard of this band before but i'm definately gonna check out their other songs.
Lol, I've liked Thrice since their release of "The Illusion of Safety" ever since then they've got me hooked.
What I love about Thrice is their diversity. They can change genres so fast. They can be in your face kickin' it heavy or soft and subtle like many songs on The Alchemy Index [water].
Also, Kensrue's lyrics are just too amazing and somehow intricate and simple at the same time. They are simply put but hold a deep meaning, and something like that takes true talent to express.
You should listen to Identity Crisis. You'll shit yourself to see how amazing their first album was, but more-so ... just how far they have came to arrive at Illusion of Safety. Seriously ... look it up :)
deffinately have to agree with that. thrice are incredible musically and lyrically. they have soo much talent and hardley anyone know who they are. i dont know how its even possible
I like all the volumes of the Alchemy Index, but in my opinion the most dynamic, innovative, visceral and emotionally gripping one is Water. Although almost every Thrice song is breathtakingly beautiful and amazing, I find the ones based on nautical themes the best lyrically, Red Sky, Whaler, Lost Continent The best Thrice songs in my opinion Lost continent Come all you weary Of dust and nations Dont tell and we wont ask Abolition of man Stare at the sun Silver wings Red sky To awake and avenge
I'm gonna take a wild guess and assume he was mocking band wagoners and the rest of the late majority who are just discovering the greatness that is Thrice.
after i heard water and fire it made me sad about the direction thrice was headed in. then i bought air and earth and was completely blown away by how amazing it was.
Fuck, this song takes the cake for the air cd. Well, along with a song for milly michaelson, truely awesome. I constantly find myself singing this tune.
I know this is the album version, but after hearing it off of the CD, my opinion of this song completely changed, and for the better. When it comes to music YouTube only gets you so far.
It actually became an instant fav of mine right when I heard
I started out as a thrice fan back when they came out with AITA and I think they really matured and got better with Vheissu and definitely these four albums
because I don't like one of their songs? you're fooling yourself into thinking this song is good. don't get me wrong though, the rest of the songs on air are fantastic...i think it's the best of the 4.

I used to like Thrice a lot, but they've changed their style. The new cd is very mellow and emo ish. I miss the Artist in the ambulance style thrice 8-/
thrice doesn't sound the same on any of their albums. Theyre one of the few bands I can think of who actually concerns themselves with genuinely evolving their music, not changing their style in search of commercial success. I mean, they QUIT a major record after two albums label because Atlantic didn't like their creative direction, and since then they've recorded their own albums. Talk about artistic integrity. They're the best band out their that wasn't started a long time ago.
Thrice's worst song. I fucking love everything they've done but this song is so corny. Come on some one has to agree with me

I think Thrice is the only post-hardcore band I've ever heard that has used a banjo in at least one of their songs.

Wow, pozerz. (Been listenin' to Thrice since '98.)
Anyway, if you two are both huge fans of Thrice, I assume you've both obtained The Alchemy Index Vols I and II, along with III and IV.
Regardless.
This is an awesome song. It's along the lines of what I've come to expect from Thrice, while still being incredibly original.
(How could anyone not like it?)

Very dedicated fan you are if you managed to listen to Thrice a year before their first release in 1999.

Wow. So, Thrice never did a single live show before 1999? Then, I guess I must have imagined going to one in '98.

People get so uptight about how long they've been listening to a band, who the fuck cares? Just enjoy it while they're still here.

Actually if you really take the time to listen to The Alchemy Index, you'll see that Thrice is way far from being an emo band and doing emo-ish songs.
They're are evolving, becoming more mature and doing more magnificient songs. If you can't see that these songs are real gems well I'm sorry for you.
I LOVE The Artist in the Ambulance, Illusion of Safety a lot too, by the way.
But I'm also so thrilled to see that they're getting better with years.
