A little off topic. But the game called "Dark Souls" has a bit of an Anti-Rage quit setup. If someone quits out as your back stabbing them, the game will actually punish them. Finally some justice in a game.
the only time i have rage quit is because whoever it is i am playing spams...i get being beat by combos those who know their combos deserve a win but if your using Hawkeye and spamming "triple arrow" or vergil using "rapid slash" you don't deserve a win
I've only had one rage quit. It's probably because I was handing this guy his ass, and I have 5 times as many losses as I do wins. Hit Hawkeye's Level 3 on him in after racking up a few bars in the first few seconds with TAC, guy just quit.
I got pissed because it was the first time I had hit a Hawkeye's L3 online, but hey, it happens. I can face the fact that I suck, apparently he couldn't.
I rarely get rage quitted on really... maybe twice? People usually just send me nice messages like "Great team man!" or "I love your team". The most often is "<3 P wright", win or lose...

Then there's those situations where both of us are on our last pixel of health so we just start taunting back and forth in the corners.
I get constant rage quitters. I use M.O.D.O.K and they get furious. I have so much rage mail in my inbox, it's great. I am starting to catalog them and going to be posting them online in the near future. I get a lot of "spammer, learn how to play (when I beat them), etc etc." My rank is only 3rd lord, and I use very unorthodox characters. I even had a guy complain because I use a fight stick.
ill rage quit if i am playing a homie on mvc 2 and he uses all iron man or my other friend using all juggernaught or all venom... that's about all, or maybe if i am getting whooped by multiple people lots and lots and lots haha

I'm an avid Tatsunoko vs. Capcom UAS player. Rage-quitters run amuck online there. It's ridiculous. In case you never heard it, the "Rage-quitter Hell" concept was also mentioned by Capcom (it may have been Seth Killian who said it) to exist in TvC. Unfortunately the low online population and high RQ volume means it's hard to know if this mechanic really exists here. From my experiences though, if it does exists, it indiscriminately targets BOTH players involved in the RQ which is unfair.
Okay, I'm commenting on this old one because it's the most relevant to my case. But this is really fucked up otherwise. I ran into about 5 people in a row who all rage quit on me, and they were in the 7th-5th lord bracket. And I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the fact that the "Rage quitters will be penalized" message pops up on my screen... Am I being sucked further into the ragequitter hell because of other people?
I noticed it's with people who aren't good at the game. When I first started I'd rage quit a lot. But as I got better I stopped and realized in about 95% of the cases it wasn't the other person "being cheap" it was me not doing stuff right, doing combos or them just being straight up better.but when I get to just sheer projectile spammers I might back out but usually I just play it out anyways. Taunters piss me off only because they're wasting my time, not particularly the "in your face" aspect.

Well considering how I main Dan the Man Hibiki on SSF4, I hate to say it but taunting is a huge part of my gameplay :p
And I don't mean that stupid little buff they gave him where he builds a bit of meter if you hit with a taunt, I mean flat out smack the butt in their face after a hard knockdown then backstep taunt. Sadly, I refuse to change this style too, because I feel that Dan's rushdown is hands down the best after you've gotten into the opponents' head, which Dan taunts always accomplish

when the game first came out, i ragequit once. did i do it again after? no cause if you play online, you have to understand its not playing against "fair" competition. also, people taunting is rude after a win. if you spam (some say zone, bs, i say spam), i taunt the hell outta you when i win
Just last night i was in a lobby of 4 people. my opponent was on the verge of losing to me when all of sudden the connection got lost, then the lobby grew to 8 and the guy came back. I go up against him again and once again i was about to win and then he backed out. He did it one more when I was spectating. SMH these people are sore losers.
Also, I despise taunting. More or so because I got teabagged in Battlefield 3 online (I thought it was only done in Halo) by the same guy that killed me a few times and I got pissed off, so when I killed him, I did it to him too. In the end, I just had to wonder why I did that because that's not how I want to be online, ya know, a douchebag. I honestly do wish people are more respectful online. Just because it's the interenet. it doesn't make it an excuse to be a prick.
Rage quitters are common more so in MOBA because I've experienced many on LoL, but I get connection problems too, so I can expect the same from them. Otherwise, the only fighting games I've really tried online was Tekken 6, SSF4, and MK9. No rage quitting in Tekken, but I do get the occassional prick who tries to talk trash after winning. MK9 has rage quitters. SSF4, people don't say much. Also, it's interesting how you analyze casual online matches. Seeing why and how one loses is interesting.

I'll admit I accidentally rage quit sometimes (possibly while drinking) by turning off my xbox after a match. I keep forgetting that you have to back out to the menu for the match to tally. I have luckily so far avoided "rage quitter hell" as I don't deserve it. 97% I take my beating like a man.
Halo : Reach deals with rage quitters by banning them for 10 minutes at a time after a set amount of quits. Problem is, it doesn't stop people from quitting at all, and then they proceed to bitch about how 'they should be able to play the game they bought how ever they want.'
I say fuck 'em. They want to lower the enjoyment of their team mates/other by quitting, sit in the damn corner.

Its really hard for me to play fighting games online especialy UMvC3 cause i live far away and its hard to get a decent connection. My connection is great I play with my friends all the time but with people online it lags and I lose cause of it. Any suggestions?
To explain my difference, Zoning is kinda what max does, Spamming is when they retreat to the corner and do "PLASMA BEAM! PLASMA BEAM! PLASMA BEAM! PLASMA BEAM!" and do something to make their connection like 1-2 bars, idk what they do, start a download or stream a video but this seems to be a problem I run into, douchebags cussing into the mic, spamming moves, and CAUSING lag. How do I know they cause it? They brag about it like trolls.
The only rage quitters I meet are generally playing on Simple Mode and get caught in my Dante Combo or a teleport mix up (I'm still low in the ranks)
The only time I have rage-quit had nothing to do with him winning (which he wasn't) but all he was doing was spamming (spamming not zoning, I see a difference) and yelling inthe the mic that I was a "fag" for teleporting, and just using all sorts of vulgar language and I just didn't want to deal with it

and to answer questions from the video, I've been playing for awhile in player matches and finally made the plunge into ranked this weekend and moved up to 7th Lord. Majority of RQs seemed to be Fighter and Amateur ranks
so i played approximately 40 games yesterday, kept track and had 8 Rage Quits. The strangest part was how it was almost consistently players with bad records. I just don't understand why a kid who is 20-60 would rage quit...

Rage quiters. I always run into them. I was playing Black Ops with my cousin and our Killstreaks were maxed out. He has a Huey and I got the dogs. Like within 15 seconds after summoning them. They left just like that. I can take a loss. It just means he or she is good enough and a good will to beat me. Nobody is perfect in video games. Hi Maximilian. I think your post-play commentary will prove more useful to players, but if you aren't already taking live commentary as notes for yourself, maybe it will help you to do that.
I notice very often when you use Doom in an OTG combo, you will use the normal heavy attack before adding other attacks. Have you considered adding a "Hard Kick" in there just to increase your combo length and damage?
It all depends on the game. In MVC 2 & 3 you deal with rage quiters time to time. In Modern warfare 3 I see that happen a lot more. There are people that just don't want to lose or if they win they will try to talk trash or disrespect you in anyway. Its a damn shame to tell you the truth.
well i dont play alot of fighting games online, but i have played naruto ultimate ninja revolution 2 shippuden or something, but that happens alot people rage quit alot, but the system they have shows how many dissconnects they have so u dont have to play that person during match set up, cuz it shows how many quits they hve. and mvc3 it happens alot early, and sometimes mid when u just crush hardcore.

Well every time i play tekken or street fighter I always meet them. My skill is not that good but I even play good pro they quit in the middle of the match because you too good for them , That why people rage quit because they can't stand a beating for once!

I have never rage quit in my life I've always been the victim of it whether it was in MK9, SSF4, or both MVC3'sand it's just one of those things you learn to live with and even take a little pride in
The other thing is that if I beat a Sentinel, Wesker, or Spencer or a particularly spammy Opponent with Spiderman I will taunt gaurantee ;)
I find rage quitting sometimes funny, but more annoying. I noticed people who rage quit are those who have a big winning streak and end up losing. thanks to you max I've been improving my skills and become a 7th lord, I still play MVC3 and when I was playing a ranked match, I was fighting a 5th ranger with 9 win streak, I was about to win with a hyper and he just quits
I've not run into a lot of rage quiters actually, but from time to time they come back for some reason. I mean by all means I'm not a pro but I'm no slouch either and if I'm losing or it looks like I'm losing I'll stick out until the end, just cause you never know when you can make a comeback.
Has anyone noticed that after the patch there have been a lot of disconnects? I thought it was people rage quitting but the same thing started on all matches weather I was winning or losing. No one would quit on me if they're winning obviously.
About taunting, in Guilty Gear, post match taunts give the opponent 50% meter next round.
And in Tekken, few characters have taunts, but for Xiaoyu, my main, her taunts, while adorable and annoying, hide her animations and actually create mixup.
But I agree, most taunts are just to be annoying, but I don't get mad or whatever, salt is good for you.
Besides you cant stop me from being a douche. If you come out shooting sent drones and hidden missiles assist I will prob just stop playing leave the room make a sandwich. Then come back choose new character select wait 60 secs and not play again. Then, and this is where I really start to get amused, I will rinse repeat and attempt to waste as much as your time as I can. Victory.
Back in vanilla when I was not so good I like many went through a period where I was abusing the unerfed sentinel. I noticed that people often did what I would call less of a rage quit and more of a "dude seriously....." dashboard. Honestly after awhile i matured in the game and was good enough to not use a 1 button lazer spam and started dashboarding on people that did it to me. It doesn't mean i am mad, i just dont care. Im more concerned with cheap shit than rage quits.
When someone rage quits it, actually feels very rewarding knowing you either made them turn off their xbox or ps3 and or sent them back to the dashboard =)
Taunting disrespectful? Well when I think taunt, I don't exactly think respect and honor. I believe it's made as a rub in factor, that's in (exception Deadpool. His does damage.) Hell, Spiderman even says "Loooooseeer." So yeah, the taunt is well....taunting. I like it. I enjoy when people talk trash because it makes things more interesting when I beat em. Even if I lose, and they taunt, I want to fight em again.

I used to be a habitual rage quitter rationalizing by saying to myself that the other guy "didn't deserve the win." Then I realized that I was acting like an idiot and that rage quitting hinders your ability to improve. So I stopped being a total fuckhead and learned to enjoy the game.

IS IT OKAY TO RAGE QUIT IF UR OPPONENT HAS sentinel that spams "destroy lazers" all the time with an assist of doctor dooms hidden missiles and a pheonix waiting for you to give it 5 bars for a dark? try jumping high to avoid sentinel lazer spamming? nope, the hidden missiles will get you. you'll be blocking for like the whole game which makes ur oppoent gain meter for dark pheonix. then when finaly u get a combo on sentinel, a hidden missile slips in to stop ur combo. spamming restart. ragequit
@halaipino2371 I would suggest using a teleporting character, I don't really think this is ragequitting worthy, it just takes some time learning how to undo this spamming, since they are very open for they are always hitting the lasers, though I agree the first couple times I met up with players like this it was quite angering.
btw, the new patch for UMVC3 ended up being a patch for taskmaster. usually after S attack, you can do an air combo with 2 might swings with taskmaster, it ended getting nerfed into 1 might swing, so far this is all i know. giving you a heads up if you people play as taskmaster
PSN is rage inducing... half of pairings are < 3 bars (I have a good internet connection) but I've never rage quit. 1 out of 5 games or so that I'm winning (not often because I'm not that good... yet) the player quits - very frustrating.

You should make a video about cheaters. Of my 300+ games I've played on psn, 70% of the games I play just happens to experience major lag when I land a hit, but runs smoothly during his 2 minute Dante combo

Agreed there are people who just love to taunt and/or t-bag and/or do a lengthy super post-match because they won despite how close the match was. I don't normally do this to people online but when I do, it's to return the favor and if they rage quit, I send a message saying "Hold that L in your chest!" Also whats the song at 4:18?
i remember a match i had recently where this guy was talking about himself like he was the best marvel player ever. long story short(end) after i killed his dante a wesker(neither of which he knew how to use) his lvl 3 x factor dr.doom killed my frank west. then in my head i was daring him to taunt just hoping he would so my dante would get a free combo and kill him. surprise he taunted, my dante came in and annilalted doom
Plus, i dont think quitting on 1v1 games is serious nor bad, i mean if youre playing league of legends or even FPS leavers just fuck your game up, but quitting on a 1v1 most likely means you give up, take blizzard for ex. if you disconnect from a match in sc2 or warcraft3, they send an announcement to your oponent: "your opponent was surrendered". I say this cause once my internet went down while playing marvel and it was really bad to see i was back in 8th lord when i had barely improved to 7th
Well capcom takes punish to leavers that's for sure, i havent found a quitter in ultMvC3 so far, but in SSFIV and meta-MvC3 they used to downgrade you a whole rank if you quitted on a match, like going from 3th lord to 4th lord or from B+ to C talking about SFIV.

As for my view of how Rage-quitting should be dealt with, firstly there has to be some way to discern a rage-quit from connection problems. Usually in a rage-quit, one opponent remains connected while the other temporarily is off-line. Either way a reward/punishment system is needed, and punishment needs to be SEVERE. It should start soft, but escalate fast and be difficult to recover from. Harsh, but RQ'ers are the kind of people who have to be punished HARD or they'll keep doing it.

I'm an avid Tatsunoko vs. Capcom UAS player. Rage-quitters run amuck online there. It's ridiculous. In case you never heard it, the "Rage-quitter Hell" concept was also mentioned by Capcom (it may have been Seth Killian who said it) to exist in TvC. Unfortunately the low online population and high RQ volume means it's hard to know if this mechanic really exists here. From my experiences though, if it does exists, it indiscriminately targets BOTH players involved in the RQ which is unfair.

Okay, I'm commenting on this old one because it's the most relevant to my case. But this is really fucked up otherwise. I ran into about 5 people in a row who all rage quit on me, and they were in the 7th-5th lord bracket. And I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the fact that the "Rage quitters will be penalized" message pops up on my screen... Am I being sucked further into the ragequitter hell because of other people?

I noticed it's with people who aren't good at the game. When I first started I'd rage quit a lot. But as I got better I stopped and realized in about 95% of the cases it wasn't the other person "being cheap" it was me not doing stuff right, doing combos or them just being straight up better.but when I get to just sheer projectile spammers I might back out but usually I just play it out anyways. Taunters piss me off only because they're wasting my time, not particularly the "in your face" aspect.

Well considering how I main Dan the Man Hibiki on SSF4, I hate to say it but taunting is a huge part of my gameplay :p
And I don't mean that stupid little buff they gave him where he builds a bit of meter if you hit with a taunt, I mean flat out smack the butt in their face after a hard knockdown then backstep taunt. Sadly, I refuse to change this style too, because I feel that Dan's rushdown is hands down the best after you've gotten into the opponents' head, which Dan taunts always accomplish

Just last night i was in a lobby of 4 people. my opponent was on the verge of losing to me when all of sudden the connection got lost, then the lobby grew to 8 and the guy came back. I go up against him again and once again i was about to win and then he backed out. He did it one more when I was spectating. SMH these people are sore losers.

Also, I despise taunting. More or so because I got teabagged in Battlefield 3 online (I thought it was only done in Halo) by the same guy that killed me a few times and I got pissed off, so when I killed him, I did it to him too. Rage quitters are common more so in MOBA because I've experienced many on LoL, but I get connection problems too, so I can expect the same from them. Otherwise, the only fighting games I've really tried online was Tekken 6, SSF4, and MK9. No rage quitting in Tekken, but I do get the occassional prick who tries to talk trash after winning. MK9 has rage quitters. SSF4, people don't say much. Also, it's interesting how you analyze casual online matches. Seeing why and how one loses is interesting.

I'll admit I accidentally rage quit sometimes (possibly while drinking) by turning off my xbox after a match. I keep forgetting that you have to back out to the menu for the match to tally. I have luckily so far avoided "rage quitter hell" as I don't deserve it. 97% I take my beating like a man.

Halo : Reach deals with rage quitters by banning them for 10 minutes at a time after a set amount of quits. Problem is, it doesn't stop people from quitting at all, and then they proceed to bitch about how 'they should be able to play the game they bought how ever they want.'
I say fuck 'em. They want to lower the enjoyment of their team mates/other by quitting, sit in the damn corner.

To explain my difference, Zoning is kinda what max does, Spamming is when they retreat to the corner and do "PLASMA BEAM! PLASMA BEAM! PLASMA BEAM! PLASMA BEAM!" and do something to make their connection like 1-2 bars, idk what they do, start a download or stream a video but this seems to be a problem I run into, douchebags cussing into the mic, spamming moves, and CAUSING lag. How do I know they cause it? They brag about it like trolls.

The only rage quitters I meet are generally playing on Simple Mode and get caught in my Dante Combo or a teleport mix up (I'm still low in the ranks)
The only time I have rage-quit had nothing to do with him winning (which he wasn't) but all he was doing was spamming (spamming not zoning, I see a difference) and yelling inthe the mic that I was a "fag" for teleporting, and just using all sorts of vulgar language and I just didn't want to deal with it
Also I taunt post game to extend the timer.

I notice very often when you use Doom in an OTG combo, you will use the normal heavy attack before adding other attacks. Have you considered adding a "Hard Kick" in there just to increase your combo length and damage?

It all depends on the game. In MVC 2 & 3 you deal with rage quiters time to time. In Modern warfare 3 I see that happen a lot more. There are people that just don't want to lose or if they win they will try to talk trash or disrespect you in anyway. Its a damn shame to tell you the truth.

About taunting, in Guilty Gear, post match taunts give the opponent 50% meter next round.
And in Tekken, few characters have taunts, but for Xiaoyu, my main, her taunts, while adorable and annoying, hide her animations and actually create mixup.
But I agree, most taunts are just to be annoying, but I don't get mad or whatever, salt is good for you.

Back in vanilla when I was not so good I like many went through a period where I was abusing the unerfed sentinel. I noticed that people often did what I would call less of a rage quit and more of a "dude seriously....." dashboard. Honestly after awhile i matured in the game and was good enough to not use a 1 button lazer spam and started dashboarding on people that did it to me. It doesn't mean i am mad, i just dont care. Im more concerned with cheap shit than rage quits.

Taunting disrespectful? Well when I think taunt, I don't exactly think respect and honor. I believe it's made as a rub in factor, that's in (exception Deadpool. His does damage.) IS IT OKAY TO RAGE QUIT IF UR OPPONENT HAS sentinel that spams "destroy lazers" all the time with an assist of doctor dooms hidden missiles and a pheonix waiting for you to give it 5 bars for a dark? try jumping high to avoid sentinel lazer spamming? nope, the hidden missiles will get you. you'll be blocking for like the whole game which makes ur oppoent gain meter for dark pheonix. then when finaly u get a combo on sentinel, a hidden missile slips in to stop ur combo. spamming restart. ragequit

btw, the new patch for UMVC3 ended up being a patch for taskmaster. usually after S attack, you can do an air combo with 2 might swings with taskmaster, it ended getting nerfed into 1 might swing, so far this is all i know. giving you a heads up if you people play as taskmaster

PSN is rage inducing... half of pairings are < 3 bars (I have a good internet connection) but I've never rage quit. 1 out of 5 games or so that I'm winning (not often because I'm not that good... yet) the player quits - very frustrating.
Taunting doesn't bother me at all - I don't see it as a disrespect but I don't do it because others see it that way. When it was a good game I send a message (win or lose) but don't always get a response. I'll stick to player matches and offline for now.

You should make a video about cheaters. Of my 300+ games I've played on psn, 70% of the games I play just happens to experience major lag when I land a hit, but runs smoothly during his 2 minute Dante combo

I dont get why people would quit to save their win/loss ratio. You can reset it if it gets too bad in the options menu.....

Agreed there are people who just love to taunt and/or t-bag and/or do a lengthy super post-match because they won despite how close the match was. I don't normally do this to people online but when I do, it's to return the favor and if they rage quit, I send a message saying "Hold that L in your chest!" Also whats the song at 4:18?

i remember a match i had recently where this guy was talking about himself like he was the best marvel player ever. long story short(end) after i killed his dante a wesker(neither of which he knew how to use) his lvl 3 x factor dr.doom killed my frank west. then in my head i was daring him to taunt just hoping he would so my dante would get a free combo and kill him. surprise he taunted, my dante came in and annilalted doom

Plus, i dont think quitting on 1v1 games is serious nor bad, i mean if youre playing league of legends or even FPS leavers just fuck your game up, but quitting on a 1v1 most likely means you give up, take blizzard for ex. if you disconnect from a match in sc2 or warcraft3, they send an announcement to your oponent: "your opponent was surrendered". I say this cause once my internet went down while playing marvel and it was really bad to see i was back in 8th lord when i had barely improved to 7th

Well capcom takes punish to leavers that's for sure, i havent found a quitter in ultMvC3 so far, but in SSFIV and meta-MvC3 they used to downgrade you a whole rank if you quitted on a match, like going from 3th lord to 4th lord or from B+ to C talking about SFIV.
