I hope I'm not the only one to notice this, but it has a rear wing, so it should be a 93 - 95, the 92s didn't come with a rear wing. Also, my car is a 93, and it has the same armrest, and it looks to have the later steering wheel, I can't quite tell, but it looks like it does. But if it doesn't, then the interior shots and the external shots were of different cars.
@aclopezjr I know this comment is late, but it's most likely a '94 because in the commercial it says the Taurus is the best selling car again, which means '92 and '93. Just an observation....
i own a 91 absolutely the funnest car i have ever drove but that is a 92 color matched handles and emblem were pretty much the only change and they offered a 3.2 autmatic but the 3.0 v6 was still faster to 60 and 1/4 mile and had more top end than the v8s that were made later
Ford did make a mock-up for a 95 Taurus SHO wagon. I read about it in a auto trend magazine. It was red with the slicer wheels, mocha full leather buckets, sunroof, am/fm cassette CD, SHO front and rear bumpers, no roof rack, Boy was it slick.
I have one, 1992 SHO, manual, 170,000 miles, simply superb, starts everytime. Its still fast and still gets head turning. The engine is simply bullet proof. have had some work done on the car..... (the ford parts of the car) very little work done on the engine. I wish ford would bring out another sho, will def buy one.
actually, this version of the SHO, as far as i know, didnt have the Yamaha engine. it wasnt till the newer body style came out that it had the yamaha V8. besides, if its a 24-valve engine then that means the yamaha engine had to have 3 valves per cylinder, which i greatly doubt it did
You are completely wrong. The 1989-1995 SHO had an engine completely designed and built by Yamaha in Japan. The 1996-1999 SHO had a V8 with a Ford block and Yamaha heads only and 32 valves.
And on a V6, 4 valves per cylinder X 6 cylinders= 24 Valves.
I have a 1991 SHO 5spd, and I've done alot of work on the engine, so I know what I'm talking about.
It does seem weird to make a high performance version of a popular midsize family sedan, although totally not unusual in the early 90's. Chevy came out with the Lumina Z34 and Chrysler came out with the Dodge Spirit R/T. I think the Taurus SHO was the best looking of the 3, but the Spirit R/T was the sportiest. Also the most rare!
wow somebody actually realized that we were all saying "show" rather than "s-h-o" i mean who would actually spell it out? america is too lazy to do anything other than eat and sleep, so why would we spell out sho? im glad someone other than me noticed it...
My SHO has close to 300,000 kilomiters on her and still runs like a top. She's a 5speed and will still bury the speed-o! It's a 92 model and all stock. That is definetly a 92 in the commercial.
Nope, this is definitely the second generation SHO. This commercial ran in either late '91 or early '92, I believe, for the '92 model. Here's a couple of ways you can tell:
1) The '89 GEN 1 model has "TAURUS SHO" branded on the door as opposed to this one which just has "SHO".
2) The '89 GEN 1 model has "TAURUS" in chrome on the trunk lid as opposed to the GEN 2 which has "TAURUS" in the body color. YouTube user DrunknMunky1990 posted a commercial which shows the '89 version.
Yea, definately a second generation SHO, I think it's a 94-95 model though with the body color door handles. Seems like the front bumper sag was standard after all, hehe.
Yep, it's a 95. Body color door handles, and black trim around the windows. But what's really weird, is that the shifter looks like it's the cable shift instead of the rod shift. I'm probably wrong about that, though, haha. SHO nerd, right here...
It looks like they used old footage for the interior, but the exterior screams 94/95.
yamahaSHO 1 year ago
ACTUALLY, since the door handles are body colored its a 94 or 95. The 93's were black handles.

@sifagaloa Yeah that's a good observation, must be a '93. My '92 didn't come with the rear wing but I added one.

The interior shot is definitely from a 90 or 91, look at that giant cable shifter! ('89's are all Grey.)

Why does the interior shot have a cable shifter?
(cable shifted SHO's have a long shifter, the rod shifters are bent and much shorter)
Dash also looks to be pre-92
Looks like that is a 91 black interior...

They're cool sedans, I don't think I'd mind having one if it were a 5spd.

can u imagine a sho with the shelby mustang motor?

only reason it's a decent sedan is because of the japanese engine. still an ugly slow car.

Ahh, you're just jealous. I get looks with mine every day. No one believes there is a V8 under that hood, until I start it.

It stands for super high output. That means it fast. We aren't lazy, you are just stupid.

ooh fast!!! like thats what we need in a taurus... thats like supercharging a ford windstar, it doesnt need to be done.
