  • Erin go brach! :)))

  • IRISH AND NEWFIE MUSIC KICKS ASS

  • I love This song

  • Its an old traditional folk song people. the lyrics aren't always the same because its been learned so many ways

  • This mustn't register on an emotional level. First, distract target. Then block his blind jab. Counter with cross to left cheek. Discombobulate. Dazed, he will attempted a wild haymaker. Employ elbow block and body shot. Block ferro left. Weaken right jaw. Now fracture. Break cracked ribs. Traumatize solar plexus. Dislocate jaw entirely. Heel kick to diaphragm. In summary- ears ringing, jaw fractured, 3 ribs cracked 4 broken, diaphragm hemorrhaging. couldn't resist....

  • @TheErty78 Physical Recovery: 6 Weeks. Full psychological recovery: 6 Months. Capacity to spit at back of head:

    Neutralized

  • Beginers version of the Sherlock Holmes version. If you can sing this version it makes that one seem easier.

  • What ive noticed with irish music, is that some same songs are sung by different groups. foggy dew, rocky road to dublin, danny boy, etc. Still love irish music. favorite Genre!!

  • most a ye arnt even irish or newfie so shut the fuck up

  • @clinehan250 hey man, im straight from the soggy boggy banks of torbay!

  • 2 peaople dont know the road to dublin

  • Lol, rocky road to dublin and morrison's jig combined? awesome :D

  • I want more of 3:15 and beyond, best guitar pickin I've evar heard.

  • @reblstevn mandolin* :)

  • @reblstevn I'm guessing it's an Irish Bouzouki, not a guitar..

  • @MrTerrorkiller your a complete fool

  • Do you know how amazing this would be if me and all the other bass singers in choir did this for a choir concert?!!?

  • Damn good insturmental towards the end, AYE!!!!!!

  • @Champ675 aye is suppose to go at the beginning of the sentence

  • quit being gay and pointing out the lyrics just sit back and enjoy!

  • amazing!!voices!!!1 yay! ahhaha lets dance x3!

  • I love this irish dialect : )

  • @MinosDaedalus Well ..the dialect is not Irish ...its Newfoundland in Canada...An Irish actor visiting there remarked about the accents of certain parts of Newfoundland as being Irish,so I guess in a way you are correct.

  • @Angus01ful ok, no matter what this dialect really is, I love it though ^_^

  • mrterrorkiller on crack?! This is an interesting rendition of the song and all, but the Dubliners are were in a totally different league than these guys, not even nearly comparable in terms of their skill or understanding of Irish music ... 50 years ago!!!

  • Love you Newfounland!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • man the dubliners have got NOTHING on these guys. this is amazing.

  • @MrTerrorkiller Are you completely insane? Or just trying to annoy people?

  • @tony10396861 no, I'm saying that the Dubliner's version sucks compared to these guys....

  • @MrTerrorkiller The original Dubliners version? Or the modern one? If you're talking about the newer version with Sean Cannon then I can understand if you prefer this. But if you're talking about Luke Kellys versions then I'm sorry but you don't know what youre talkin about.

  • thumbs up if you heard this song in sherlok holms and became absolutley obsesed with it.

  • I saw these guys last night. Awesome concert!!

  • who the F........ didn't like this song.....LOSERS

  • PS: for who's interested in other versions of the song...

    The Dubliners

    The Pogues

    Makem & Clancy

The Chieftains are the best ones...

then there's the Orthodox Celts' one and another wonderful one from the film "The Rocky Road to Dublin" (1968)

  • Speaking as a self-respecting Newfoundlander... we don't TYPE our accent. Not as accurately as you guys are trying to. Frankly, it's embarrassing to go on these videos and to see mainlanders trying to 'talk like a Newfie'. We DO learn proper English here, you know. We don't go on 'talkin' like dis ere, b'y. Sure we'd get nuttin' done if we was goin' round talkin' like it, me son!'

  • the dubliners' version was better

  • I like it too!!

  • morrison's jig!!!! this is defo goin on ma Itunes!!!, thanks Notasthinkasudrunkim for the upload

  • Nice, but just a hair on the Luke Kelly / Dubliners version from the early to mid '60s. Interesting arrangement; very Jethro Tullish.

  • he left home to find a job but it was a farce to get him to buy the drink

  • i feel so irish listening to this. proud to have descendants from there.... DERRY FTW

  • Ha! Is that the turn from Morrison's Jig at the beginning? I'm so very proud of myself for recognizing it.

  • I'm confused about the line "Asked if I was hired. Wages I required"

It doesn't make any sense in the context. Can anybody clear this up and give me their interpretation?

  • @mdlagreca Ive always taken it to mean the girls are asking if they can buy hin for...Y'know!

  • Great job boys

  • ....This is a 'folk' song....There is no such thing as the 'wrong' lyrics. They change. May or June.....Near or Nigh...As long as the meanings are the same. Different groups put their own take on this incredible fun tune....

  • I like this version, the way the guy plays the guitar gives it a Spanish twang, especially at the end of the interlude.

  • Oh my God!!

    I LOVE irish music!

    Greetings from Romania!

  • in 1.30 there is music part from suite irlandaise of Allan stivelli

  • Ah my God ..this is a great version.cha chuala mi nas fhearr :)

  • @Angus01ful cha chuala mi nas fhearr? I didn't understand that part I am Swedish xD

  • @PastramiStaven It is gaelic for.......''I never heard better''

  • @Angus01ful Ah thanks! I love gaelic it sounds so beutifull :)

  • needs to see them to appericate them

  • I raped a pirate on one winters morn

  • Some of your lyrics are still wrong...

Verse 2: Started by DAYLIGHT, me SPIRITS bright and CHEERY

Verse 5: Galway boys were NIGH

Thanks for all the work, though! I love this arrangement.

  • Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the lyrics. I can definately hear them pronounce a B on the latter one, and while I know most other version of this song use 'daylight', being the Irish Descendants and all; I can't be too sure. I'll look into it some more I guess.

    ~

  • @Notasthinkasudrunkim there are kinda 10 versions...

for example I sing: started by daylight, next morning blithe and early

  • @Notasthinkasudrunkim But that's the beauty of old folk tunes. They change. There are no rules! :D *love this version*

  • @Rheostatik your an idiot, truly an idiot

  • @sidepocket4 Um...what? Care to explain?

  • @Rheostatik no one gives a flying fuck

  • @ppatrick81 You're ugly.

  • @Rheostatik The lyrics he's using are from the Dropkick's version.

And it's not "Galway boys were Nigh" it's definitely "Some Galway boys were by" - It sounds like that and it fits with the song - He got in a fight, some lads from Galway were there, they joined in.

  • Does anyone know the name of the reel at the end?

  • like it

  • great take on a great song! also check out the versions by 'the dubliners' and 'makem & clancy'

  • This is the best song in human history. It makes me want to walk out my door and RUN.

  • by cant sit still while listin to this

  • while i like the fact that you put the song up...your lyrics arent even close to right for this version

  • Yah, hadn't been doing my homework on this song, merely just copy/pasted the lyrics, just to get it up; lovely song!

Lyrics should be 100% correct now, thanks for the reminder. =-]

  • yes they are, you just cant understand Newfie, flatlanders...PFT

  • @bushymons Yes by myson, fuckin' mainlanders ain't got no clue a'tall.

  • @newfiecodjigger Are ya sayin their not much good in Labrador

  • @Angus01ful C'mon now by, you knows we don't consider people from Labrador mainlanders, shes not called Newfoundland & Labrador fer nutting.

  • @newfiecodjigger Just pullin your leg..:)

  • @Murrello If that isn't the epitome of hyperbole.

  • Where is the picture from?

  • Great song!

  • i swear it says the merry month of june

  • Lol I'm pretty sure it does.

  • Bah, you're being delusive =p

  • haha nice edit :D, yeh there are variations of the song. nice job
