If the producers hadn't randomly and inexplicably re-formatted the series during the second season, then the writers could've possibly written a story explaining that the Mor-Taxans themselves were responsible for the amnesia phenomenon (that's my personal theory), as well as exploring their motives for doing so.
It was so stupid that the Mor-Taxans didn't return in the next season, just because that moron of a Frank Mancuso Jr. changed a lot of the story in season,
I wish that the Mor-Taxans were still in the next season
and I wished that they never killed off Col. Ironhorse and Norton Drake
I was so pissed off when they killed of Col. Ironhorse at the end of season 1. he was the reason i watched the show and became a ranger... lol no BULLSHIT
@dre30012000 - They had a perfect group dynamic going on, then they blow up their HQ, kill 2 GREAT characters & suddenly introduce a new set of aliens, even though at least these aliens could walk among other humans without looking like the freakin' living dead / zombies ! INSANITY ! I always liked the way Col. Ironhorse & Blackwood were often at opposites, but managed to work together most of the time.
Gosh this brings back great memories of late-night television in the late 80's early 90's.
I loved this show and the classic Friday the 13th Television show. While TV today is overall better in quality, there was something about that era that was different, that brought about unique shows like this.
War of the Worlds was one of those shows that did not shy away from gore and mutilation. I just wish that the technology would have been better as I would have loved to actually see the aliens taking over human bodies instead of from behind shadows and from behind obstacles. Also, I just wish that Billy Thorpe would have released an extended version of the show's season one theme song. I always thought it to be awesome.
What happened to the giant alien hand covering Earth before each episode started? Was that only US versions? It had that creepy "moaning" music to it ...Like whenever they killed one in a human body and it melted into bubbly goo.
I liked season 1, not season 2. I think that the writers could have done a little better with the series though. They should have had more episodes where the aliens were looking for their ships. I'm sure that there weren't only 3 left from the 1953 invasion.
It was slap bang in the middle of the 1988 writers' strike (they seem to have one every 20 years LOL) so most of the scripting was done by producers...
I fucking LOVE this season and the theme song... the sound effects and the looks of the space ships and weapons of the aliens! I was so obsessed with this back in the late 80's in my childhood, I had daymares! I could swear I hear the alien death ray outside my bathroom door when I took showers lol... to be a kid again.
I'm about to shortly turn 30 next month. 20 years ago I was watching every episode of this and then suddenly I believe in '89 it disappeared. I vaguely remember them showing the last episode I would see and then they would like always preview the next episode and I just remember a fire engine responding to something and I remember I looked forward to watching that episode so I tuned in and the t.v. series was not there. I checked the T.V. Guide and it WAS GONE??? Is it available on DVD???
I agree on that account about the 2nd season being an almost entirely different show. New intro, new setting, Blackwood acting COMPLETELY different, killing off of characters(completely uncalled for), and general nihilism compared to the first year. Still, with all that, if you view the second season as its own show, there are some episodes that work. And we got to see Adrian Paul in a pre-Highlander role so that was cool.
I loved this show when I was a kid. It was all about Lieutenant Colonel Ironhorse for me. Not a big fan of the Kincaid refocus at all.

It always bugged me that they show the iconic Martian hand there at 0:09, and then dissolve to a hand that looks NOTHING LIKE IT right after.

I just posted the Billy Thorpe performance from the "Choir of Angels" episode on my page if anybody wants to see it again.

@TY73Projex It was more lack of budget than technology that prevented that kind of thing.

@BammerD Yeah, they might as well have just started an entirely different show with season 2, it was so different.

He didn't join the cast until the 2nd season (which may as well have been a completely separate show!)
