  • its there a way to fix rounded eyeshadows like the milani ones

  • u should do a video on how to make msf and how to press it

  • Koren, what if you added the few drops of alcohol while the shadow was still in the ziploc, that way when you cut the corner from the bag, the eyeshadow could be squeezed into the pot like a paste. Would this method work the same way or would I have a different result? Thank you for all of your amazing videos, they are a huge help to me!!

  • is this pressing method strong enough to be able to take the shadows with you to travel? will they break?

  • would this work with mineral eyeshadow?

  • can you use a hand santizer with 60% of alcohol content?

  • can you use a hand sanitizer with 60% of acohol content in it?

  • oh my god i love you i've been looking for this everywhere!

  • Can you do this with mixing colors?

  • lol i have the same lamp

    great vid :)

and what's the diff between pressing medium and rubbing alcohol?

  • lol i have the same lamp

    great vid :)

  • the mineral eyeshadow i have are shimmery, is that okay to press? they are the ELF mineral eye shadows.

    thanks! :)

  • u r a gay guy stupid idiot an u tak weird

  • @Juliere99 First of all if you're going to insult someone make sure you know how to spell and use proper grammar you silly twat. So again its, "You are a gay guy stupid idiot (which makes no sense already) and you talk weird". FAIL.

  • @slytherinheir16 i didnt write that my frend ddid while i was gone

  • @Juliere99 learn how to spell please.

  • @xxxchloefxxx again didnt write it

  • 4:50 EARSPLITTING SOUNDS. :)

  • @pinkrose838 tell me about! I got goosebumps all over *shudder* and he kept going!

  • @pinkrose838 omg that is the worst sound ever!

  • Hi - I use a similar method, except I mix in the bag first then snip the corner off and squeeze it into the container (kind of like icing) I find this way I can get it all in one go and it's a lot less messy.

  • work on cream shadows?

  • @junglee786 Cream shadows can break?

  • lmaooooo

  • love your videos Koren.. you saved me from my mother anger :D

  • do matte eyeshadows press okay?

    i'm just curious.

  • yeah, i recently did it and other than a red stain (since my fabric was red), it worked like a charm.

  • okay.

    thank you!

  • Matte eyeshadows don't work. Once you wet them you ruin them. Trust I've done it by accident. :O) Even trying to use them wet you have to scrap the eyeshadow out first and then use it wet. Hope that helps. :O)

  • Is There Any Thing OTHER That AchoaholI can use

  • hey, I used 96% alcohol and it dries super fast...

  • I used this on my Sally Girl Single Eyeshadow, and it made the shadow darker. Can I only use this technique on pigments?

  • it mightve been because of the color of the fabric you used to pres it, just a thought. hope this helps!

  • i love you koren!

  • you're amazing! i love your videos they help me so much!

  • I ♥ how u explain everything!!!! most people just tell u how to do it with no explaination why they do it!!!

    ur the best!

  • would this work with bare essentuals shadows?

  • ahh so i pressed my favorite mac eyeshadow with 70% alcohol, and now it's hard and crusted and not smooth at all!

any thoughts on why this happened??

  • i love how detailed you are, great video!

  • can anyone please tell me why after I press my shadows, they still fall out from the pan in one piece?? I pressed it firmly with the coin too =(

  • I would try a wetter mixture; sometimes when you use too dry of a mixture it tends to pull away from the pan.

  • alright thanks! =)

  • HI Enkore!!

    Quick question....

I have been search and searching for one of those metal spatulas MUA's use as a sanitary way of scraping l/s or scooping pigmts out.

    Where can I find one??

  • I think you can find them at Michaels art stores.

  • could you do a video on what colors eye shadows go good together and what colors go good with blue eyes?

  • Koren the mineralized skinfinishes are shimery so that means I gotta use alcohol correct?

  • i love the way you say 'so'

    x

  • Comment removed

  • hi enkore will this work for my carbon eyeshadow it broke into peices i almost cried

  • hey enkore, i broke my blot powder compact, and is it possible to press that like pigments?

  • if its matte powder - you wany the Mineralize Pressing method. alcohol wont bind mattes.

  • I broke a matte powder a while ago and pressed it with alcohol. That thing is SOLID. Perhaps different powders react differently?

  • my blot powder compact broke, do you think i can press it like pigments?

  • you can either keep it loose, or if you press it, use the Mineral Pressing method as blot powders are matte and fine milled

  • awesome!!!! thanks!!!

  • i'm always singing your theme

music when i watch your videos..lol

  • can you do the same thing to powders like foundation powders and things like that?

  • Just to let you know, this worked perfectly for my MAC studio Fix Powder! How awesome is that? I was just going to through it away.

  • This is amazing! Thank you. I have so many shattered Studio Fix powders. Do you know of a method that will mend these? Would this same method work?

  • I NEED HELP PLEASE! :(

i ordered one of those 120 pro palette and it came with a couple of shadows shattered completely! what do i do to fix it cuz i cant take out the pan and shatter it and do the whole process u did in this video... do i like try and completely break the eyeshadow in the pan and just basically do what i did in this video? PLEASE HELP! :(

  • send it back and tell them it was broken.

  • Would this work well with blushes or MAC's studio fix?

  • Genius! Thanks so much for this post!

  • Can you do this to shattered blush?

I was so upset that I dropped my blush.

It's square but in a flat container.

  • my nars shadow cracked, and i'd like to keep it in the same container, so what do you recommend for pressing, since the coin is round and the container is a rectangle...

  • instead of using alcohol can you use water?

    x

  • No, water doesnt work.

  • Where do you get the metal spatulas please?

  • Igot it at the Discovery Channel Store at a Shopping Mall. You might want to google it. Im sure there are loads online.

  • hello ive been after them myself. I searched on EBAY if you type these key words in something should come up. most are based in USA but ship world wide. Ive just ordered myself and form UK but looks pretty similar to what Enkore uses. key words are :

SPATULA, JEWELLERY, WAX, CARVING, MODELING, DENTIST TOOLS

    Hope this helps!

  • hey does pressing pigments make them less shimmery or change their pigmentation/finish in any way?

  • great vid

    but i was just wodder

ing what if it is bigger than a quarter should i just use somthing bigger

  • sure - find something closer to the size, as long as it will fit inside the pan your using.

  • how do you press if they are in a palette? i just got a set through the post ( 120) and they are gorgeous colours but quite a few are shattered :(

    Hope you reply, thanks!!

  • oh my gosh i want to kno the same thing cuz mine came with a couple like completely shattered and i cant find a video or anthing on it! ughh i wanna know what to do!

  • would hydrogen peroxide work as a substitute for alchohol?

  • NO, it will bleach out the colors

  • is this cornflower from wet n wild?!?!?!?!?!

  • oh gosh its been a while since I made this video, but I think IT IS.

  • is there any way to fix a broken studio fix powder...mine shattered and though i can buy another one i wanted to know if mine can be saved

  • you can use method in my Pressing Minerals video to save you fix powder.

  • I LOVE this idea! Thank you so much! I can fix my broken eyeshadows now. yay! lol

  • awesome! i always just make my shattered shadows into loose powder, but now i have more options! also i think i might make mini pressed versions of all my powders and pigements for travel purposes--hey that reminds me, i am trying to figure out what material i can shape to any desired form to use as a pan for the e/s in old or unusual palette compacts... i hope you get what i'm trying to say...

  • yes - thats a great idea! press in small amounts for travel kits.

  • I just threw away a shattered shadow! *Tear.*

Nice video, I think I want to press my samples.

  • Hi Koren,

I have a really dumb question...so here goes: what is the benefit of buying pigments over pre-pressed eyeshadows and blushes? I just ordered a bunch of sample pigments, but I am not sure what the benefit is of the loose pigments. Thanks!

  • the pressed shadows aren't pigments and pigments are loose and most people like their pigments pressed

  • you just savedd my lifeeeee! thankss <333

  • Awhh i wished i found this before, i threw out all of my broken eyeshadows.

  • ah when u wiped the container with alcohal the tissue squeked and it make me feel sick like nails on a chalkboard lol

  • This saved my roommate's favorite eyeshadow. Thanks!

  • yeay! glad to hear that!

  • Hi Koren. I just want to say I love all your videos and I have tried to do some of the stuff that you have teached us, but I just wonder if I have to use Isopropyl alcohol or can I use Denatured alcohol?

I would love if you could answer me, your big fan in Norway. Thanks for posting this clip btw :D

  • hey seker - yes, you can use denatured alcohol. Also I believe in Norway you can get Surgical Spirit. This works well too.

  • Hey i tried to press my nyx pearl mania pigments and i used the Isopropyl 70% alcohol but the pigments just didnt stay pressed they went back to loose pigments. Is it something i did wrong maybe? Can u plz Let me know what i can do? thankz!

  • pearl mania is finely milled - you want to use my Mineral Pressing method on those.

  • youre the best!!

  • I just fixed my broken MAC eye shadow! You are awesome Koren and it worked PERFECTLY! Thanks!

  • youre the best

  • I see you used a quarter to press round eyeshadow and a coffee press for blush. What do you use to press a square and a rectangular eyeshadow? For example, Trish McEvoy products.

  • I'm sure you can find something of the same size and shape to use, just look around the house. You can cut a piece of thick board to shape, and wrap in aluminum foil. that can work too.

  • Hi Koren, I was just wondering if I can use this method to press my mineral foundation instead of using the other pressing method that uses the face and body mixing medium by Mac? I want to retain the purity of the mineral ingredients, so I rather not add anything into it. Would that work as well? Thanks.

  • Hi Koren, I was just wondering if I can use this method to press my mineral foundation instead of using the other pressing method that uses the face and body mixing medium by Mac? Thanks.

  • hey verdandi - some people have tried with success. The last time i did, a couple dried back to its loose powder form. One pressed ok, but i think its because its more pigmented. There are people that used this method with success, so give it a shot.

  • Hi Koren, fantastic video again. A question, where did you get your spatula and small measuring spoon from?

  • hey Mag - i got the spatula from a science/lab store like discovery channel store. And the measuring spoon is a set from Bed Bath & Beyond. Any kitchen type store sells them.

  • Question... I have Bare Minerals e/s, blush, and glimmers can I do the same process with those too? I sure hope so its save so much space! LOL... XD

  • hey sweepee - you can press those, but use my MINERALIZED Pressing video method. Check that out.

  • Sweet! Thanks so much! XD

  • This is so great, definitely going to help me fix all the eye shadows my baby girl is been destroying! haha!

  • I was wondering how well your pressed pigments & shadows hold up. My are pretty fragile after pressing.

  • Shiela - that means you're not pressing hard enough. If they are fragile after pressing it means there are still a lot of air. Press a little harder to really compact the powder.

  • any alternatives instead of using the tin cans?

  • you can use plastic jars - like the ones i used in melting lipstick video.

  • Hi Koren, i love you tuts. i tried your eyeshadow repair and i love it :) one problem though, my Cranberry eyeshadow shattered along the edges, and i have a chunk in the middle of the pan. do you recommend moving the shadow before depotting or should i fix it then depot. let me know! thank you.

    -Violet<3

  • hi Violet - yeah, its best to remove all the powders if you're repressing anyway - then depot - then re-press the powder following this tutorial.

  • All this information is great. I'm having problems pressing my "hottie cosmetics" eyeshadow. Why will some pigments press and others don't?

  • some pigments are Jet-milled (fine powders). Those are hard to press. Some Matte powders are also hard to press. Otherwise, coarse, shimmery ones are a breeze.

  • ok, in case anyone was interested: BE glimmers and shadows CANNOT be pressed. I tried to press two last night and it didn't work. I also pressed some of the HIP pigments from L'oreal and those DID work, and beautifully I might add :)The consistency and color of the HIP pigment actually seemed better after the pressing too. Thank for all your videos Koren. It's amazing how much you have taught me :)

  • hey Jade - I found a way to press BE shadows! I will post a video on it soon. Keep watching - woo hoo - this is exciting!

  • omg! Thats FANTASTIC news. I have three glimmer from BE that I ABSOLUTELY must have in palette form. Fire Opal, Peacock and Bikini. Thanks so much Koren! I will be watching for that vid! :) :) :) :)

  • WOOHOO!!!!!! Thats fantastic news! I will keep watching for the vid! Thanks so much Koren!!!! You rock!

  • Thank you very much dear Koren for this video. As a Makeup artist I use a lot pallets, but by traveling, especially by air, some of my blushers and eyeshadows break. And its not nice surprise when I open my pallete and it just spill everywhere.. Now I know I should not give my makeupcase to anybody else :). But now I can finally fix it all! Thank you ones more :-*

  • glad to help Dashee - I am editing a video on Traveling for MUAs. Keep an eye on that.

  • Ohh that would be so much great! I was thinking to buy the travel case from Kryolan it fits to cabine. But it is so stupid rule for MUAs with the liquids by airports :/. Ones I forgot put out all, when the rule was new and they just throw it out without any discusion.. :( like $200. Sometimes I use many protection but not everytime it helps... X

  • gohs, I hear ya on that. I travel a lot with my kits and its such a hassle. Dont you wish there are certain regulations to makeup our travel easier?

  • Yeah, absolutely. They should make some exceptions for us :). But its true, that even makeup artist can be a "terrorist". LOL :-D

  • hey i have a couple questions: 1) can you do this with ANY eyeshadow that breaks??? 2) when pressing MAC pigments, about how much do you use? a lot of sites that sell pigment samples sell at 1/4 tsp. is that enough for a good fill on a pan? thanx!!!

  • hey deedee - yes pretty much. Some mattes are stubborn to repress. 1/4 tsp is plenty enough to press.

  • thank you soooo much i just broken my most beautiful eye shadow recently

    you are really good

  • Koren, Fantastic tutorial! But I love them all! I am curious where I can purchase/find one of those micro-spatulas that you use. Is it cosmetic specific or another awesome craft find? ;-) (Your craft deals are great!)

  • micro-spatulas are really useful! You can get one at cinema secrets. You can also just google stainless steel micro spatulas and youll find them. I got mine from a Sciene/Lab store where you can get beakers and such.

  • Thank you for your quick reply, Koren! Much appreciated!

  • Thanks so much. I just was trying to depot the mac eyeshadow I bought, and it completely shattered. I was hurt, but remembered watching your video. I tried it and it worked. Thanks again.

  • ive broken my powder foundation many times and its expensive (for me) could you do this with foundation as well??

  • This is so cool! I think you should mix colors and make custom eye shadows :)

  • well, one of my favorite pressed products just broke so since i don't have enough time to press it again, i just put it in a plastic bag and crushed it into a loose powder! haha just an idea =] Oh and i put it in a new container after !

  • So, if pressed pigment is eyeshadow, then what's the difference besides the texture?

    Thanks

  • Hi Koren! I have a question, not sure if it has been asked before, but I'll give it a go! If I break an eyeshadow, fix it, but then break it again, is it a bad thing to fix it AGAIN??

  • hey Unnipeach- sorry, it been a manic week. Any hoo - it is OK to do it again.

  • enkore, how could you go about pressing a broken blusher, considering that they're much bigger than eyeshadows? what would you use to press it? thank you very much, you're awesome.

  • hey AcrylickTears - I use a metal measuring cup the kind that comes in a set! I believe the 1/4 cup is the perfect size.

  • thank you very much!

  • lma i have that SAME eyeshadow, same color and everything.... cracked!!!!!!!!!!!!!! haha.... i just use it with mixing medium now, its a big brighter

  • i have a mac bronzer, will it work? wont the color change once i apply it to my skin?

  • no, the alcohol evaporates and doesnt really change the color. That was my concern too at first then I tried it and been doing it, so far I havent really noticed color changes on anything i pressed.

  • Wow, thanks so much for this tutorial! :) Does this work with loose mineral eyeshadows as well?

  • hey passionkay - yeas it does, as long as the powder is NOT jet-milled.

  • Wow, it never occurred to me to do this - thanks.

  • can we do the steps for cracked compressed powder ???

  • hey eyenature - yes it works on pressed powders whether blot or blushes.

  • I never throw my broken shadows away anymore I keep all of them in those pill containers that screw together...stackables and I was waiting for someone to tell/show us all how to save them...Thank you so much EnKore...you're terrific, oh gotta get my hands on one of those spatulas. TTFN.

  • omg that sound on 4:50 gives me shivers.. im gonna do that to my eyeshadows too!! thanks dude

  • i do this to my broken eyeshadows too... only with little variation. :)

  • Your tutorials are amazing, I loved your eyeshadow depotting one...do you think you could do the same tutorial but with blush? and does it work with creme blush? thanks!

  • Yes and Yes - this is definitely safer for Cream Blushes because there is no heat involved. I have depotted all my blushes using this technique.

  • wow thanks! if only i knew about this sooner i wounldnt have thrown away my melton mauve. thanks for posting a great vid(s)!!

  • oh no! not the Melton Mauve! Sorry about your loss... :(

  • ooh I feel your pain. I had the perfect brown once and now I only have a corner left... :)

Get the containers, you won't throw away another shadow or blush again...who knows you make your own custom color. Worth a shot. peace.

  • Another great vid!
