  • whit carol pope sé deguelaase stune salope!!!

  • Sorry Babe, i aint always as hot.

  • i dont love this song.... but i do like it a lot :)

  • classic.

  • Paul Hyde & Carol Pope are awesome together!

  • Ah, to be twenty again! Sweet song...

  • This song makes me feel like going to the island mon!

  • They don't remain anonymous, and a computer used by all sorts of people is not a good source as all sorts of people who enjoy a good laugh will testify. So will hundreds of threats and false accusations. He has no idea about this, by the way.

  • @NozBoyHux . Richard Charles Gordon of Houston Texas. You do not have an issue with us contacting Dr. Mark Henry and Kenneth Wallace providing them with statements ( Hard copies/day/date time stamped) made on Youtube and other internet sites by you over a 2+ year period? We of course will provide full contact information i.e name/telephone and email information to all concerned parties.

  • @NozBoyHux Mr Gordon. No threats what so ever. Just factual information you posted. Check out my page.

  • Great song! Only if you have something to hide would you think otherwise. Anonymous accusations have a way of coming back at you.

  • Carole Pope wants to "protect her reputation at the office?" Classic!

Love this song. Saw the Payola$ open for Split Enz back in the day - special guest Mick Ronson on guitar!

  • Carol Pope of Rough Trade.... what a combo with the Payola's

  • IS THEIR AN VIDEO TO THIS GREAT SONG ?????

  • 555h2so4 is a 54 year old creep who smoke rope with teens he meets at street protests like the one titled "V for Valentine's protest - ATL"

He wears make up to these protests to make it harder for his victims to identify him after he has raped them.

I found him out and he has been slandering me ever since! Ha ha, it is so much fun watching him go to all this bother. He is a noodley armed coward. He challenged me to meet on my vacation near his home in Panama City FL but backed down fast.

  • @NozBoyHux . Richard Charles Gordon of Houston Texas. Would Dr. Mark Henry understand the racist and hate filled comments posted by you over a 2+ year on Youtube? Would Kenneth Wallace need to know of your repeated actions while on school property during school hours? Do the Galena park ISD parents and students needs to see what and how one of their teachers act on the internet?

  • Heard this 5 or 6 times on a Syracuse rock station in late '83, and never again.

    Until now on YT.

    GREAT tune.

  • wasn't this from a movie sountrack from the 80's?! Weekend at Bernie's?! lol

  • This song reminds me of September 2007. I had bought the CD and was coming home from the city crying over my friend who had killed himself. I feel like it's all new again..

  • The best lyric - I'm sorry if you've been mislead, but I'd rather you than an empty bed... - nicely written

  • Doug Nahrebeski thinks not he can guide the course of love, for love, if it finds him worthy, shall guide his course. thankyouverymuchhaveaniceday.

  • Like this song! BTW could you put up "Hungry" as well - it reminds me of a pre-fight-club Norton.

  • Damn good to hear this hit again!

  • @Champ675 - Hey. We're Canadian. It's "damnED good."

  • Lethallarryw -you're absolutely CORRECT about the lyric change . It IS "I didn't want to lower my guard"...

This is reminding me of how many people initially THOUGHT the french lyrics in Games Without Frontiers ...("Jeux Sans Frontières") were actually "She's So Popular" even though it may sound like this...it makes no sense...this "she's so popular"-Jeux Sans Frontières="Games without frontiers"... in French"^^

  • Most take these lyrics from "ring-tone" sites and they're always wrong.

My brother misheard Jeux Sans Frontieres as "She's so fucked up, yeah" and we spoke French as our primary language lol.

  • This reminds me of the Music scene in Toronto when I was in my 20,s . the El Mocambo, Gasworks , Chimney , Midwich Cuckoo on Jarvis where we saw David Wilcox. Carole Pope was always a Favorite. This music had a lot of fun and sexiness built in to it .

  • It reminds me of the '80s Vancouver scene, as The Payolas were then a popular Van band!

Oddly, one their biggest hits whose video even used to get played on Much Music was the blatantly racist, anti-immigrant (but still entertaining) "China Boys"!

Odder still, MM then had prudish feminism (via Denise Donlon) affecting programming & lots of vids got rejected, banned for "objectifying women", yet

"objectifying & demeaning" Asian immigrants was okay with MM, apparently!

  • Do you remember the Battered Wives? They had to change their name to the "Wives " because of chicks like her .

  • @nukemech Unfortunately, yes, I do recall the Battered Wives, as they battered my ears to a degree never encountered before or since. In the the '70s I lived in TO & saw TBW open for Elvis Costello. My right ear was barraged by a nearby bank of speakers at max+ decibels. I swear I had hearing problems thereafter. I recall TBW had a song "Uganda Stomp" ("bomp, Idi, bomp!"). I only saw Rough Trade once at some Yonge St. bar.

  • That would have been the Chimney upstairs form the Gasworks

  • the lyrics posted with this video say it says "Cause I didn't wanna know - Oh my god! Never said I love you ..." which is fairly stupid.

You can clearly hear the song says "Didn't want to lower my guard".

  • Had this song on a K-tel tape,,think it was ROCK 82`.....had other songs such as Putt`n on the ritz....cuts like a knife...hungry like the wolf and electric avenue....i may still have it somewhere....

  • would be a great song for a skateboard vid!

  • totally!

  • obtw - fisrt heard this song in the summer of '83 and loved it...don't know if i'd heard it twice since then...

  • the correct lyric is

"never siad i loved you cause i didn't want to lower my guard"

    makes more sense, eh?

  • Oh man, I'd forgotten Carol Pope sang with them on this song.

  • @BrimHawk She happened to be in town when they were recording. Just one of those coinkydinks that turns out to be incredible!

  • @NozBoyHux Hey pot head old man Bee Gee haired freak, I'm not married! HAHA, you stalker fag, 555h2so4. Canadian police blocked you from the winter olympics because I WARNED THEM ABOUT YOU!!!!!

  • And, the lights guy jumped out the window? Is lighting that stressful of a job???? and all this time i thought Dentistry was the suicide profression!!!!

  • Wow...never knew they were from Vancouver. Very cool. The things one learns on the net huh? lol They were great, and, what band were you with?

  • The Payolas....canadian band?

  • Yup, from Vancouver.

I had the pleasure of playing with these guys way back in 1981 when I played in a band that backed them for a few nights. I actually ended up doing their lights for 3 nights when Paul asked me saying "our light guy jumped out the window last night". Some of the nicest and most fun guys I have had the pleasure to meet.

  • Yes, they are from Vancouver, British Columbia. They are also British emigrants so they sing with the real British accent.

  • Great song, but that wasn't even the best song by the Parachute Club, let alone of all the '80's.

  • Some of the time he says "I'm not always this hard," other times it "so hot".

  • Only want to like you a lot..... 7th or 8th grade...ahh the memories!

  • Great song! A definite 80s hit. At 3:02, I think he says: "I've been nice to you cause, I need a woman." This sounds more accurate than the last two lyrics listed.

  • one of my fave canadian songs...others: i want you back by sherry kean, all touch by rough trade and every little tear by paul janz...

  • This song is timeless.

  • a hidden gem, love it!

  • i love carole pope!

  • ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh those were the days

    *~never said i loved you....only want to like you a lot~*

the anthem of the 80s LOL

    Great song...THANK YOU!

  • I think that the line is Never said I love you, Cause I- didn't want to lower my guard though.

  • @thegirl44 That's definitely what the line is.

  • Nice..a room with a view...

  • this is an old one, and very hard to find...
