Wow. that's awsome. I collect reel to reel AKAI tape recorder. I love this old stereo equipment. 8 track was great. All that graphite lube caused slippage. I can here it in the recording. Very vintage :) I have boxes of 8 tracks in my attic next to my Beta VCR. Want them?
Wow! That's great! My parents have a load of 8 tracks in the basement. They have a Lafayette unit, not unlike the one you have there. The tapes start out slow like yours, and the flutter is the same, too. Among their playlist is the Bee Gees, Classics IV, Credence Clearwater Revival and others. Technology at its finest -- or at least it was. :) Good stuff.
@longboardjeff Thanks:) Ya this older technology sounds so much better than stuff today. The Bee Gees and CCR are great! Sometimes the tape flutters if it doesn't touch the head the right way haha.

I still have my 8 track players but I don't have near as many of the tapes that you have. Nice collection of the Beatles.
