Why dont dave matthews band go for the jazz/soul direction for all of his songs? This is one of his better songs because it incorporates brass instruments and it sounds amazing the first 2 minutes.
Yeah, being there made this INSANE, people. And hearing this song live pumps up the audience very well. It's a great time :) And being there for the debut was pretty awesome, especially also getting the Pig and Recently performances from earlier that night. -Such- a good night ,my only regret is missing night two!
i think that this song is great on and off the album.. i saw dmb in cincinnati june 16th and it was the third time they had played it live.. and it was actually really good. the crowd loved it. i knew the song going into the concert and i was so excited they played it. it has to much energy to it. its incredible. probably one of my favorite songs from the album.
Concerning the rushing business: Yeah, it's a tad faster than it is on the record, but hey, the difference in length is 9 seconds and that's not a big deal, considering how adrenalined you are live. As long as the song isn't rushing as it goes on it's perfectly alright (and you can compare by playing the beginning of the song right after hearing the end).
I was there last night too, and no Carter did NOT rush this - it was amazing! I was so glad to hear this @ the show! Thank you so much for putting this up, I couldn't wait to hear it again
why is everyone bitchin bout carter speeding the song up, this song is a fast paced song for those who havent properly listened to it! sounds great to me
the horns sounded perfect...they were on and pulled the song through. it sounded a tad rushed from the very beginning, but who am i to tell carter he was too fast. i love dave; i think he's great, but i do have to say that i think he's the only member of the band that seems to be getting worse over time. his vocals are starting to really lack; a lot of flat notes, and i didn't start hearing those till a couple years ago. but this band is run by its instruments, not its voices, so...rock on dmb!
the song was rushed? dude...this is only 9 seconds shorter than the album version. it's simple math..the song is approximately 120 beats per minute. 9 seconds would be 18 beats...the song is 4 minutes long so 18 beats divided by 4 minutes is 4 1/2 beats per minute. so...instead of playing the song at 120 beats per minute..they played it 124 beats per minute. that's barely detectable by ear. give me a break. songs are almost always a bit faster live
when in doubt, ALWAYS go to SPAC. I've been to 4 shows there (2 separate summers, both shows each summer) and none of the shows disappoint. It's one of the band's favorite venues on the east coast, they always put on an amazing show, and it's a really cool place to see a show.
saw them yesterday in charleston they did this and it was awesomeeeee

I'm a big fan of DMB and hate saying anything remotly bad about them, but I agree. It's SO good on the album, this just doesnt do it as much justice

it's just the quality, they do a pretty damn good job of reproducing it, there's barley any flaws

@andybeerboobs well remember that this isn't a studio quality recording.
