@GODLIKE20000 hahah yes that was so stupid I was damn serious at the time than he came to distract me. Right now still no #3 close.. but #2.5 start to feel more easy every time I close it.
respect to gripmasters he made this video when no one knew COC. now they are very well known since the last 6 months or so. Loads of peopel are putting up shiity grainy garbage videos of "I closed a 1.5" when they didnt close shit. THis dude here was closing a 2 in a suit 3 years ago and he is honest and helps others. I mean this video actually has honest people commenting instead of the "i almost closed a 4 at 16" type bs elsewhere on youtube
Thank you very much for your comment! Yes that is true I was crazy about grippers already back in 2004. I posted many comments, I guess I saw almost every grip video here on youtube. But the last months, I stopped commenting a bit because SHIT youtube chanced the layout and the 5 star rating. I have no Idea how much time I put into it but it is awfully lot. Thanks again! Keep it up! Greetings, Gripmasters (BTW I closed the #2.5 for 3 baby reps but now I lost some strength again)
@Gripmasters thats great to hear. I must confess for the last 2 years my enthusiasm comes and goes. For some reason i cant train more than 1 or 1-2 times a week without feeling subpar. I started on a trainer but was closing a #1 within 1 month. 6 months in i peaked at #1 for 13 reps. I had a #2 at the time but never came close. so for next 16 months just 1-2 workouts a month sets of 10 on #1. than a revival i got 1.5# and closed immediately for 3-4. got up to 6-7. and am now ready for 2 i think
I have a question. I seem to be able to close the #1 by positioning my hand further down but I cannot close it when I put all my hand in the regular position. Does it matter the position you put your hand in?
@dkblade27 Please search on youtube: how to set a gripper, this is very important, even if you are extreme strong if you don't set the gripper correct you can never close it. Let me know how it is going.
@dkblade27 Yes, it matters. The lower you position your hand, the more you're using leverage to you advantage. It's the same principle as closing a door. It requires very little effort to close the average door, but the closer you place your hand to the hinges, the more effort it takes to close that door.
Thanks a lot! That is a very detailed description. I thought I got stronger because all of a sudden I closed the #1 after placing my hand lower. So I guess I have more to work on haha.
My question now is... which is the correct position to close it? I watched some vids on youtube and ppl use that leverage to close it.
haha yes this was almost 3 years ago.. But I can still not close the #3...I have closed the #2.5 I am still training!! hope to make it one day...the #3
Im getting the #2 tomorrow i think ill be able to close it without going to the #1.5 because i can close the #1 with ease, and i thought maybe with training i could close the #3 but you say its been a year and you still havent closed it...thats abit depressing for me lol
@Gripmasters I noticed that progress comes in bursts. From 2006 to 2008 (partly from injuries), I came close to the #2, closing the Master, then from late 2009 onward made tons of progress. Now I'm within 2 mm from closing the #3.
its hard to be impressed by any of theseclosing videos because we have no idea how used or weakenend the coil is. the only real deal is the magnus closingf the 4 straight outta the packet. i have never seen nobody else do it
very good point, but the COC's are so heavy duty I dont think they'd wear down too easily. I mean, maybe after like 5-10 years, but who knows. I guess it would really depend on how strong the guy closing it is
Closing the #2 is always something to be proud of. I understand that we all wanna shoot for closing the #3 and then the #4, but closing the #2 is huge. I took that gripper around Penn State before, NOBODY even came within a country mile of closing it. Actually, the best try on the #1 was getting it down to 1/8", so that was a huge accomplishment. I just now am closing the #2 after years of working for it (injuries set me back). But now I'm making great progress bursts, so #3, here I come!
Have you considered an ivanko Vise gripper? Microloading it with elastic bands make your strength gains seem almost effortless. That's how I moved from the 1.5 to the 2.
That last mm is always the worst, you have no idea how long that last mm dogged me with the Ironmind #2. I'd reccomend getting a BeefBuilder Super Advanced and BeefBuilder Master, both are good 'tweeners that helped me close the Ironmind #2. The SA is about 155 lbs or a 1.3 and the BBM is about 185 lbs or a 1.8. I bought enough grippers that I can incrimentally climb up the ladder towards the #3 and eventually the #4. Right now, all I'm doing with the high up grippers is chest crushing them.
2 is still something to be proud of, no "normal" person can close the 2.... it requires gripper training, but some beasts can close them first time, just not many :p

Yeah, its a shit language. Its called "Dutch".
It was almost made extinct during world war 2 but unfortunately the Germans were unreliable and allowed some of these "Dutch" people to survive.
And now the world is cursed with this shitty language called "Dutch" and every time I hear it I want to clear my throat and eat my own diahorea. Its that bad.
I don't think it's a matter of build-quality, though. It's more of a matter of finish-quality. For instance, the HG's have a little glue residue on the top of the handles thats not cleaned up, but that doesn't bother me. As for build quality, I'd say they are pretty much even, if for maybe a little more seasoning variance. One website said they prefered the HG's knurling compared to the CoCs, and even said that they are %95
of the quality CoC. Then there's the cost issue...
...You can get a full set of 6 HG's for only $60 and free shipping off ebay, while CoC's cost at least $20 each, and the HG's have a lifetime warranty, yadayada. They're both GREAT grippers, but you've got the history and fame of CoC's, while the HG's are %95 as good, but are much easier on the wallet.
You have got to be kidding me. Dont even try to compare the hg's with CoC. I did the mistake to start with the hg's and then i had to buy CoC. Hg grippers are verry bad quality i know from personal experience i destroyed 3 grippers so far and my coc grippers are as good as new. The training that coc grippers give you is world class.
Nope, I'm not kidding. I own 6 of them, and I've never had a single problem any with them. The springs have hardly seasoned at all, knurling is good(a little smooth on the 100, but you don't exactly need knurling that feels like 60-grit sand-paper on that one;), and if a spring breaks, there's a lifetime warranty on them. And I'm not saying CoC's aren't world class grippers, but there's no problem w/ HG's. And as for the best quality grippers, Beef Builders are the best you can get.
awesome man! Strong close!
