  • one of my favorite short pieces for violin and orchestra. I also like Christina Sinding's siute for violin and orchestra (opus 10). I have never ehard of this violinist. Isaac stern did a good rendition of Serenade Melancolique. Go Cardinals!

  • Max Kayser was First Chair for the Berlin Philharmonic (Germany) for many years - he also was a member of the Goebbels Trio and played extensively for RIAS. He traveled all over the world giving concerts and even played for some pieces for Disney Studios - I believe the movie was Sleeping Beauty but can't swear to that - would need to look it up. He was also my uncle.

  • Yes, we can find great interpreters in old records. They were not subject to modern audience requirements. This recording has a very well chosen tempo. (The playing in octaves suffered, but the emotional expression is marvelous).

  • wow, the lyrics in that really spoke to me. gotta appreciate the discipline required to make that sound as natural and instinctive as it did.

  • thx alot for sharing this. it's great =)

  • Very involved performance, actually one of the best I heard so far! Wonderful discovery. Thanks for posting it!

  • Hey it´s nice looking the shining surface of a vinyl record, it isn´t?

I love classical too. I´ll put something about it.

You´re a good classical records collector!!

    Thanks.

  • Interesting interpretation! May sound weak/bland compared to modern versions, but it's musically convincing and heartfelt.
