one of my favorite short pieces for violin and orchestra. I also like Christina Sinding's siute for violin and orchestra (opus 10). I have never ehard of this violinist. Isaac stern did a good rendition of Serenade Melancolique. Go Cardinals!
Max Kayser was First Chair for the Berlin Philharmonic (Germany) for many years - he also was a member of the Goebbels Trio and played extensively for RIAS. He traveled all over the world giving concerts and even played for some pieces for Disney Studios - I believe the movie was Sleeping Beauty but can't swear to that - would need to look it up. He was also my uncle.
Yes, we can find great interpreters in old records. They were not subject to modern audience requirements. This recording has a very well chosen tempo. (The playing in octaves suffered, but the emotional expression is marvelous).

wow, the lyrics in that really spoke to me. gotta appreciate the discipline required to make that sound as natural and instinctive as it did.

Hey it´s nice looking the shining surface of a vinyl record, it isn´t?
I love classical too. I´ll put something about it.
You´re a good classical records collector!!
Thanks.

Interesting interpretation! May sound weak/bland compared to modern versions, but it's musically convincing and heartfelt.
