people help me out please, there is a European group (i think) that also does instrumental music that is avante garde like T.D. and i used to have them in my old playlists but i forgot the name. they were named after a galaxy, something like M31 or similar does anyne know who they are? thanks.
@kennywowie You are correct. Before computers, one way to make cartoons was to separate the story to many different glass plates. Some were changing faster than the others.
Fab, it’s just perfect. Haven't heard that track for yonks, got it on vinyl, got to dig it out! I mailed the link to my daughter half was through viewing and said ‘wait for the spinach’! Thanks to whoever put it up, best 10 mins viewing for a long time!
I dont think its a bad video at all.. sync wasnt perfect but it was still bloody great to watch, i love these ol cartoons because they are so refreshingly surreal and devoid of all the sexual iinnuendo and violence tolday. Its pity this wasnt the benchmark for most of the shite put up here.
thanks to uploader ( please dont stop making these )
it works because it'l like when you are having E, and you started out your trip waiting for the effects of the E while watching something silly. As soon as you start feeling something you put on spacy music like this and the silly cartoon stays without sound. Well that how we did it anyway :p
But it DOES kinda go together. Certain parts where the music changes direction it matches the change of events in the Popeye. Case in point, beginning when birdflies, 0:50, 1:21, 5:33 are just a few,,,,good job!
@LorcanHurley Easy to make? Boring? You can't be serious...... If you are then.. well no comment this song doesn't deserve name calling on it's video :)
this is beautiful, it sounds almost like music from the N64 game Glover, check out its soundtrack if you like Tangerine Dream, I think you will like it a lot. Especially the Atlantis songs.
DAE feel like this is a profound tale with Popeye as the Responsible Everyman and Olive Oyl as The Oppressed and the villain as The Opressors and the guy videotaping the duck as The Media?
Ha I'm like 17, so maybe my opinion is a little skewed, but it seems like tangerine dream's music was WAY ahead of their time. This sounds like some modern day techno/rock/pop
True, the cartoon and music weren't meant to go together. Nonetheless Islanderview, I think this is an excellent video choice for this track. The connection can be interpreted in many different ways, eh I have my own I won't bother to explain. Tangerine Dream is amazing, this is one of their best songs.
I have to disagree that this was a bad match also. I found it an interesting intuitive interpretation. It had all the important archetypes involved. good, evil, sex, and all that JAZZ!
I think it's inspired stuff, myself. Think outside the box, people; this is Tangerine Dream we're talking about here! Their music with a classic Popeye cartoon really isn't all that far out in the realm of TD. I think it works wonderfully together, and many of the scenes sinc amazingly well with the music.
ciscotie is so wrong, that´s an inspired idea, setting this song to popeye on sindbads island - the barren landscape, the surreal slapstick to this song is just awesome! i love it!
@Islanderview Considering the cartoon and the music were never meant to go together to begin with, I think they sync quite well, actually. Plus, a Popeye cartoon backing TD's music is inspired from the get go. I disagree with you completely. You may not have known what you were thinking, but you did good anyhow.
Well this is uplifting.

how DID they get that 3D effect with the scenery? Multiple plates being moved in front of the camera? It has always baffled me.
