Fountains of Wayne is one of the BEST and least appreciated bands of the last decade. I literally wore this CD out, back in the day. It irritates me that Katy Perry covered this song, but maybe, just maybe, her rendition will cause more people to look into the origin of the song, and reacquaint themselves (or learn) about FOW...thus causing a "rebirth". I saw FOW in '03 and they were amazing live. These guys are TRUE musicians, in every sense of the word

@americangraffiti101 I was listening to a Katy Perry playlist and almost fell out of my chair when this song came up. I've had FOW's version on my computer since probably 2006. I figured 'well, everyone knows that it's a cover' - NOT. Someone on Wikipedia even had the temerity to claim that "It is one of three tracks from the album written solely by Perry" - which someone in the Talk page pointed out was wrong since August 2009(!), but no one even bothered changing it until I did today.

"Foutains of Wayne" is/was a shop in Wayne, NJ. So I'd assume that they're referring to Hackensack, NJ.

I believe one of them grew up in Montclair, NJ too... I forget which one.

Folks, this is an FOW original. They wrote it and their studio version is impeccable and a little masterpiece. The ingenue did a nice job with it, and I'm glad Katy Perry gave it some attention, but enough raving about the cover artist. The guys in FOW are song writers above all, and damn good ones.
