  • I live in calgary alberta canada, and this one time at my cabin an hour east of the city, we had this same amount of lighting. The thing was there was no thunder or rain whatsoever. it was a spectacular sight. the constant light at 2am.

  • yea we had a small lighting cloud over mobile before it was awesome!

  • Not even close to this lightning show in Norway, this was damn cool, loved it...

  • 1:19 scared the SHIT outta me!!!!!!!

    (turn your bolume UP!)

  • I remeber that storm

  • Wow!!! I'm moving there. But Florida, New Mexico have great storms, damn!

  • I love Florida thunderstorms. They occur every hour and last for like 15 minutes. The thing is, the sky isn't pitch black. I love thunderstorms with a bright sky. On the other hand, if the sky is pitch black, I'd be scared stiff. I have a "partial" phobia. Feel free to correct me if there's an actual term for that.

  • continuous lightning must get on peoples nerves!

  • lots of lightning

  • u live in holland?kool

  • Dont you just love a good thunderstorm. We dont really get good ones here in holland.

  • Great!! I've moved from England to Brisane in Australia and we get storms like this quite regularly and they last about 4 hours, you can watch the lightning for a good hour or so before the storm actually hits, brilliant!

  • im envious lol

  • gotta move to a proper state for stuff like that

  • beautiful

  • Thor was havin a party out there :D

  • Wish we had those here in Belgium.

Worst we had struck at about 50 metres and hit a pole at the railroad.

    I ran ... hehe

  • LOL.... i wish i was there.. i like those strange things

  • They are wonderful to watch if you're not afraid of them. Thanks for the comment!

  • @DrDiddle Im usually scared of the first bang. then its all pleasent from there :D

  • so do i ;)

  • I used to live in Queensland (Australia) and we always got thunderstorms like this during summer but now i've moved to Victoria and all we get is either 40+ degrees during summer or freezing weather during winter but it's still good lol XD

  • Good to hear from one of my favorite people! Love you blokes from Down Under. I didn't know Victoria was so chilly. Served with some of your SAS chaps in Vietnam and fell in love with your humor! :-)

  • @MsGrannySmith

Im moving to Queensland Cairns.. Im from Scotland, Love the Weather, The people and the lifetstyle.

We dont ever get thunderstorms like this in Scotland.. if we do its about 3-4 bits of thunder, one flash and thats it.. here its just cold and rainy lol.

Cant wait to move down under !!

  • we never have storms like this in england, i wish we did!!!

  • These showy storms are awesome to see, but my heart goes out to all the wild animals that have to endure them. It must be terrifying for those little critters. My dogs hate the storms and they're safe inside! :-)

  • ya. u guys need to come to kansas then if u think this is a thunderstorm. i live in the friggin tornado and thunderstorm isle. lol

  • Thanks, but these are enough for me. If you think thunderstorms in Kansas are tough, you ought to come to Minnesota in the winter and enjoy a real storm: 70+ mph winds, temps waaaaaay below zero and blinding snow. And by the way, we are in the same "tornado alley" as Kansas and Oklahoma...

  • looks like a horror movie!! :O!

  • Funny! Never thought of it like that! :-)

  • Wow...I'm so jealous...I love thunderstorms. I grew up in an area that is thunderstorm deprived (L.A.), and now in Seattle, which isn't much better for Thunderstorms.

  • Seattle - isn't that the land of rain? I would have thought you guys had lots of thunderstorms! :-)

  • Thanks for the kind comments and the great info! Hopefully, more to come.

  • A very good video, DrDiddle. 5/5

There are a few theories surrounding the frequency of lightning in individual thunderstorms, but I feel that the actual intensity and pace are related to the speed at which ice crystals are produced within a given storm. This, in turn, links to the inflow of the storm, corresponding to the amount of moisture/humidity available in the air for condensation.

Thanks for sharing the footage with us, my friend. Now I can't wait until next Spring-Summer.

    -Trav.

  • Continuous Lightning is just many thunderstorms that are either separate or linked, but as there is so many each gives its own lightning, so it seems as tho its none stop, this happens during the day but is less noticeable because light is obviously more visible during the night, so in a way its a big storm but in a way not, you can tell most are far away because you can not hear most or others with a deep continues rumble, some will be overhead which is the storm you are currently in

  • Thanks, professor, I didn't know that. But, I don't really care too much about the science - I just like the light show and rain sounds! Hope you enjoyed it, too!

  • did actually. yes, was awesome, just thought u you may want to know stuff about it, my bad lol :-)

  • I do love to learn new stuff and thanks again! Glad you enjoyed it, too! :-)

  • oh we where in alabama and it was like that for 4 houers. me and two other ppl where awake and thears a door next to the bed so kevin an chace where going to sleep when someone pokesd there head in and said yall run to the storm seller if u hear the sirens and the trees falling down it scared me so much im got up and puked. but it was my uncal he sleeps in a tralor in the woods. it scared the CRAP out of us lol.

  • Sounds like you guys had a tornado! Very scary things to go through. I like my storms that just make a lot of noise and throw some rain at me. I can do without all the destruction!

  • now that was continuous lightning. Great video! I posted a few from June of this year that I took in NJ, fair amount of lightning in that storm but not quite as frequent as yours though. Great job...have any more???

    Cheers!

  • Thanks for the kind comments. And yes, I just uploaded two new storms from this year. Hopefully, we'll get another one or two before summer is over.

  • Yea it does lol.

We get alot of pink/purple lightning here. (when we get them). Which isnt that ofen i might add.Thankfully. Except this summer on the 6th of july this year i thought it was the end of the world coming or something. And a few really bad ones after that too. NOT GOOD! lol.

I am terrified of storms yet i cant keep away. weird huh.

Oh yea i agree lol and i see now watching it agian.

I love your trash comment haha

You sound like a really funny guy Lol.

    (^.^)/""

    xx

  • I think I would have died! haha Nice storm though, Green lightning ?? wow.

Btw, you should do commentaries your very funny lol.

    x

  • Thanks, you're very kind. Green lightning is the best kind. Yellow is too scary and white is just too bright, don't you think? Actually, that green is from my Sony's "night shot" infrared night vision system. But it looks kinda eerie, doesn't it? :-)

  • that's insane!!

  • u shudda ben there!

  • dude i wish i had storms like that in maryland

  • I'm surprised you don't with all the ocean storms that come your way. If I remember Maryland has a few hot & humid days during the summer! Maybe your time will come to stand out in a lightning storm with a camera...

  • That's like how it was last night, by where I live. It was really neat!

  • It's kinda fun, isn't it? Hope u enjoyed it.

  • That's a great vid mate. I've never experienced a storm like that!

  • we had a thunderstorm like this last year in germany. one of the most powerful storms i've ever experienced...

  • u must have been very brave to go out during that O.O

  • you're very kind - most would probably think very stupid (and wet!)

  • lol nah kewl vid

  • scary O.o 5 stars

  • it did this storm where i live one time i was in the car and it ws continuous flashing for about an hour it ws scary !!!

  • Your username makes it look like you have babies - I hope they made it through okay. I know how much these loud storms can scare children and animals (and some adults!).

  • hahaa no i dont havee kids lol but thanks i think haha lol its jst a username lol random one haha! it ws scary though but it went eventually

  • Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

  • What a wicked storm! 5 stars, good video!

  • that was an awesome vid of that thunderstom. Did you ever lose power that night?

  • Incredibly, no. I turned off the computer and tv and waited for the blackout but it never came! My scared dogs sure appreciated that.

  • very scary, these are so rare in england i think, only experienced maybe 2, i do remember one though. it lasted for several hours and there was widespread flooding with the constant rumbling and flashing

    great vid

  • Thank you for sharing - good to hear from someone 'across the pond!' You might want to view (review?) the same video without my comments - it's just the sights and sounds of the storm with no talking! :-) Tom

  • Awesome frequent lightning you videotaped here..... very nice job....awesome too...! BTW....wanna check out these videos of mine....7/28/89, 6/26/02, 8/14/05 and 7/18/06? THOSE 4 Tstorm videos also have some prodiguous flashes of lightning and with real good thunder!!!! I got a good one here recently, from 4/3/09 too.

  • You've got some awesome storms recorded. Fun to watch. I never realized when I filmed this storm how popular this subject is. Isn't YouTube fun? The next big storm will find me & my camera standing out in the yard in the middle of the sound & fury dodging lightning bolts! :-)

  • I am terrified of thunder and lightning, I will almost have a heart attack driving through it having to get to work. :(

But I loved the green that it showed when the lightning came along. :)

  • last time we had a thunderstorm someone put there outdoor light on! danm it!!!!1 lol beutiful sights thougth =)

  • nice i love storms im just tht way they help me sleep LOL

  • Well, sweet dreams!

  • i was in the thunder storm my dad was driving through it

  • I'll bet that was exciting. My dogs sure didn't enjoy it!

  • i hate thunderstorms. it freaked me out. :P but i love the color of it. very beautiful yet fierce.

  • My dogs agree with you. You should have seen them when I went back inside - all four were huddled around my feet shivering under the computer desk! My fearsome foursome! They all got lots of hugs. :-)

  • WHOA...that's alot of lightning o_O

    AWESOME!

  • What a great storm! Fun to watch and listen to but I wouldn't want to be an animal out in it. Thanks for the video.

  • that's some seriously frequent lightning...awesome video and sound quality, thanks for sharing this.

  • Thanks - next time I'll shut up and just record the sounds! This storm lasted for well over an hour and I babbled all the way through!

  • haha no worries...im curious, whats your camcorder/audio setup?

  • It's simple: just the on-camera mic and I believe I shot in 16:9 (HD) mode with night vision. The camera is a Sony HDR-HC1. It's a wonderful videocam, though getting a little old by today's HD standards.

  • very cool, figured it was a sony because of the night shot, I just bought a New HD cam for my Storm chasing next year canon hf-10, once again thanks.

  • Beautiful camera - good luck with it. I look forward to seeing some of your chasing results!
