I saw "Twister" about 5 times at the theater. Seeing those tornadoes on the big screen, man, it was terrifying and fun. Made me respect the wind, pun intended, even though it was make-believe.
@XxSunboundRxX, a career in storm chasing is just like weight loss...Results will vary. It takes a combo of luck, skill, strategy, & knowledge to be able to gain sustained success. If you want to chase tornados/severe storms for a living, I suggest you to get a degree in Meteorology, have patience, and a great deal of technology with you in order to safely chase storms. The primary source of income is through data and vdeo given to the media. IMO, I would do this as a hobby rather than a career.
@CubbieChris ya no I've been watching this movie since I was 2 or mabye 3......im now 16 and I've always wanted to storm chase but I've been told its a waste of time....if you don't mind i'd like your opinion on this profession to better help my decision about this career

I'm an annoying movie credit watcher, and there are very few movies that have a well done finish. Most endings limp into a fade out. This is a gem, and I'm not a contemporary music lover. The stringed instruments have the ability to duplicate the human voice IF played well. This performance is one of the very few to achieve a soprano vocal crescendo. Well done Van Halen... well done!
I want 'Respect the wind' ending theme of Twister be played at my funeral too. Oh, its such a beautiful theme! I love this incredible work of Van Halen.

So sorry Eddie Van Halen would fly away with his guitar on a twister, because this is the voice of the wind,we could call this a Raga if we lived in ancient India,a wind raga,i am sure we can call the wind by playing this
I heard this song for the first time watching Twister during the last few days of my pet rat's life... a few days later, he was gone, and I've never really been the same. The song always makes me think of my Poepoe... beautiful, wonderful, beyond words to describe. I bought the movie a few years back so that I could reminisce on such a good and yet tragic era in my life. For you, Poe!!
@JasmineXeniaa Of course not. Not only is it one of the greatest movies ever made, with one of the greatest soundtracks - that era of my life added special meaning to all of it, especially this song. When you hear something like this you can't help but wonder about life - pain, love, the best of times, the lowest of moments. This is six minutes of just... everything.

I will never look at the wind as if it is just something that is there ever since ok it might be small to those in the us we had an F2 in the uk about 5 years ago , it clocked around 130 MPH and took out tons of trees and caused massive damage to cars and buildings on the uk scale it was classed on the Torro scale as a T4 (Intense) and shortly as a T5 (Severe) and we still get them now but are classed in most cases no higher than F1's
einsteinboricua: this music attracts storms. after getting off of work today, i was about to lay down in my room for a nap when i heard thunder. i went out to look at the sky and a storm was definitely coming! wow, this is weird lol
i know, right? it amazes me how wind can be so dangerous sometimes. how could something as beautiful as a tornado be so deadly? i saw where oklahoma was having bad weather on the weather channel. hopefully, you're ok. lol some people are going to think we're nuts for saying tornadoes are beautiful.
@zepcrazyfre Van Halen is a hard rock band, but this is esentially an Eddie/Alex Van Halen project and isn't attributed to the entire band. I'd call this instrumental rock, plan and simple. It was recorded for the movie Twister.
Probably. I doubt any of these people even know what the federal reserve actually is. Or could even explain fractional lending, or have even read the patriot act. On and on. Half of them probably took the H1N1 vaccine. You poor sheep are just being led over a cliff to your own demise. Current price of gold $1,136. OUCH! Look out sheeple this one is gonna hurt. The next two years is gonna be a nightmare of biblical proportions. Anyway go back to sleep lil sheep.
Anyone know other epic songs like this other than comfortably numb and time by pink floyd?

The guitar actually reminds me a little bit of Ulrich Roth and Jeff Beck. "Cause We've Ended As Lovers".

einsteinboricua: this music attracts storms. after getting off of work today, i was about to lay down in my room for a nap when i heard thunder. i went out to look at the sky and a storm was definitely coming! wow, this is weird lol

i know, right? it amazes me how wind can be so dangerous sometimes. how could something as beautiful as a tornado be so deadly? i saw where oklahoma was having bad weather on the weather channel. hopefully, you're ok. lol some people are going to think we're nuts for saying tornadoes are beautiful.

Maybe this is a stupid question but music genre is this great song? It's keyboards and guitar I know but what specified genre is this?

@nnhs08 thank you! I thought it was rock ballad;
zepcrazyfre 1 year ago
@zepcrazyfre Van Halen is a hard rock band, but this is esentially an Eddie/Alex Van Halen project and isn't attributed to the entire band. I'd call this instrumental rock, plan and simple. It was recorded for the movie Twister.

I used to be afraid of this song because every time I watched the credits a strong thunderstorm would form and pound our region.
