  • Minimoog's rule... I have three of them...;c)

  • @noddyspuncture I love minimoogs as well! would love to have a model d one of these days.

    Take care,

    Jareth

  • Sounds great and I liked your music. How did get to be so good at synth restoration? I doubt Moog or some of these guys who have fixed high-end analog synths for years or decades could do the work you are doing. I am very impressed.

  • @Franzko787 Thank you very much! Well, I have always worked on things since I was very little. I guess repairing things just come natural. I majored in electronics in college which was a big help when it came to synthesizers.

Thank you again and take care,

    Jareth

  • @synthpro

Great. Most professional repair guys with good skills hear the words "Polymoog" and run away. Great job and beautiful restoration. It is even cooler because ithe Polymoog (and Minimoog) were key tools to Gary Numan's best work. Take care. Keep playing and fixing. :-)

  • @Franzko787 Well, I can see why most people would not want to work on one of these. The biggest problems with the polymoog is that there were so many changes to the circuits throughout production. Oh yes, it is very cool to think about the polymoog and minimoog being key tools for Gary Numan. His music just would have not sounded the same without them both.

    Thanks,

    Jareth

  • PERFECT SOUND & WONDERFUL TUNE, KEYBOARD SOUNDS JUST LIKE THE EFFECTS GARY NUMAN USES BUT THEN AGAIN IT'S THE POLLY MOOG, I'D STILL LOVE ONE OF THESE OR IF THERE'S SOFTWARE WITH EXACT SAME SOUNDS WHICH WOULD BE CHEAPER I'D THINK THOUGH THE GOOD OLD JUNO G HAS A FEW G NMN SOUNDS LIKE THE COM PAD. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK J YOU REALLY ARE CHURNING OUT SOME FABULUS STUFF!

  • @bestrickie2 Thank you very much Rich!

  • Wow!! Great video :0) vox humana is always the sound everyone uses. No wonder! Its like a Numan demo that never was! your song.... is fantastic. Thanx for sharing!

  • @muzikman2008 Thank you very much and your welcome. If you like this track feel free to check out my album. The details are on my youtube channel.

    Take care,

    Jareth

  • From prev. That synth had a name like Compton or Clarion...wait maybe that's it. Ahhhh' help me with this (LOL)!

  • What is the name of that little drum synth that had 8 knobs on the top and one on the side- it was black and clipped on the drum's head. It was called the 'minisynth D7 ' or something like that. I had lots of shematics on my old computer of it. There was a D8 too, but I can't find any of this info. Did find the Soundlab Mini-synth that looks pretty cool.

Actually an organ player, but also love analog synths. Have Wurlitzer 625t w/ Orbit monophonic analog synth on board. Paid only $100! Get one

  • Wow, where is here the repeat button? The vox humana is an incredible cool sound, I want to have the 280A Polymoog :-P

  • @thevoiceofpolymoog Oh yes, there is nothing like the Vox Humana preset! I would like to find a 203a.

I really like your polymoog video and thanks for checking out my work as well.

    Take care,

    Jareth

  • It was scary... black smoke started coming out through the unit, I shut it down immediately, opened the doors and windows, and was getting ready to drag it out into the back yard if it didn't stop. Fortunately, it did, and in about 15 minutes most of the smell was gone. It wouldn't work after that. I sold it back to the guy that I bought it from, he said he turned it on, and it worked great. To this day, I don't know what the heck happened, or how it could have worked for him.

  • @peterkadar That is very strange. I am glad you did not have to drag the poly out side, that would have been a job!

  • Hi Jareth BRILLIANT tune as I say. Long time no hear. I getting used to the good old Juno SLOWELY but surely. I just finished a CD of me singing & playing a load of old classics like Both Sides Now, We'll Meet Again/White Cliffs Of Dover, Leaving On A Jet Plane & others. I've sent some folk MP3s of these. I think I got your email address so I post them on. Oh, I've done a cover of Amarillo using my own harmony & a vocoder. I still LUV these sounds your using on this BRILLIANT track from Rich.

  • Hi, thanks for the info MY WORD that aint cheep that is well over 10 grand if I'm reading the number correctly & I wouldn't need a flight case as I would use the moog at home. Do you know if there's a way I could down load the sounds or even get software that I could use via my SH-201 synth in order to use the sounds that way? Cheers & keep up the good work from Rich

  • @bestrickie2 That does not sound right at all. I used a converter to figure out how much it would be in pounds, but it may have been wrong. I know a pound is worth more than an american dollar so I would figure it would be a lower number. I am not sure where you could go to get some sounds, but I know they are some out there.

    Take care,

    Jareth

  • Hi, Thanks for the info. How much is that in English money? It still aint cheep & I would be a little reluctant to buy something of ebay as I'd rather see what I'm buying first. Shame as I say we don't love nearer as I know you'd know if a used synth such as the moog is working fully. The Juno G has one of the very sounds like the moog which G Nmn uses but it hasn't come down in price yet. Again that tune you've done is AWESOME! Keep up the hard work & I sure the moog is well on the mend. Cheers

  • @bestrickie2 Your welcome. it would be about £1033.91. This one looks real good. it even has a heavy duty case that it comes in. and free shipping. It is also has a good serial number. any polymoog below 3000 was trouble, but this one is SN 3903. I will send you a link. If you got this synth you would have Garys sound for sure.

thanks for the comment and I will talk to you soon.

    Jareth

  • Hi As I say AWESOME & all other words I used to speak well of your hard work on that BRILLIANT tune & indeed profound work on the moog. I wish we lived near on another as I'd love to meet you & I wish to get my hands on a p moog. Do you know where I could get one going fairly cheep, in good working condition. I would be happy to look at one with you if you were near by as I know you have such knowledge & you'd know if there were anything wrong before I bought it. Cheers

  • @bestrickie2 Thank you very much!

There is one on ebay now, but it will set you back $1500.00. It does not work, but I would be more than happy to fix it. It is the 203a synth model ( which I wish I had).

    Thanks again and take care,

    Jareth

  • @synthpro Hi Jareth

Oh I didn't know you were looking for a 203a. I was offered one 2 weeks ago for €650 in working condition. That would be around $820, perhaps i should've bought it anyway.

  • WELL what can I say? BRILLIANT, AWESOME, AMAZING, EXLNT, COOL is the LEAST I can say. Is the moog restoration complete? I'll say again you know your stuff & them sounds are BANG ON Gary Numans FANTASTIC sounds & what a WONDERFUL compsition there, keep up the HARD work. I been working on stuff like recording a track using sampled drum loops, voices & my vocader to add lyrics & I working on other stuff. Cheers 100 out of 10 for your HUGE talent!

  • This is one fine tribute video/composition!!! And all the hard work and patience you have put into this is really inspiring...! And you know what else? I think a Polymoog just flew by a Jupiter 8 at the top of my Wish list...! :)

  • @Sjobeck7 Thank you very much! It did take some patience. This is one of those synths that is like no other I have ever played or worked on. The hardest part for me on this project was knowing that some of the electronic components are rare and all it takes is one wrong move for them to go bad, but it was worth the risk.

    Thanks again and take care,

    Jareth

  • Great tune!!

I had an original Polymoog, and I miss it dearly... even though it caught fire in my parent's basement. I'd love to play one of these someday.

  • Thank you!

Oh man, I hate to hear yours ended in fire! They are fun to play. Maybe you will find you another one soon.

    Thanks for watching!

  • What happened, man?!

  • Brilliant!!!

  • Thank you!

  • Excellent work, looks great, sounds great!

  • Thank you!

  • J, thats a beautiful composition, total 280! Love the video too, well done my friend. I've just played this to my 280 to show her your progress! It cane be done !!!!

  • Thank you!

Maybe she will straighten up soon.

  • How many hours of diagnosis and repair?

I did not realize you had performed the restoration yourself Jareth. An old friend I recently found on facebook might still have his 203a. Will get back to you if he does. never know till ya ask.

  • It took about a week to diagnose most of the problems. I worked a total of 3 months to get it back in shape. Some days I took a break on the electronics part and worked on cosmetics. There were a lot of long nights with my soldering gun, but it was worth it.

That would be great if you could see if your friend still has his 203a, I appreciate that!

    Take care,

    Jareth

  • ok, So you like fixin old 70's and early 80's key boards. let me hear you make some Drum and bass with your stuff dude..lol or some freaky tracey stuff you got the stuff lets get CRACKIN!! lol :D BTW cool vid and tune!!

  • I will see what I can do. I have played around with freaky tracey stuff before, but have never used much of it.

    Thanks!

  • Back in 1991 when I bought 2 model 203's from Oklahoma, I had to pick them up from the freight company. One was in a flight case, the other all bubble wrapped. Both of them needed major attention from the get go. I never got them 100%. Eventually they died. Running my Lambda through a Little Phatty is close.

  • They are a challenge to fix. I wish I could find a 203a . That sounds like your LP and lambda would work good. That moog filter makes a world of difference.

    Thanks for watching!

  • Nice video J,

Do me a favor and email me and tell me about how you managed to aquire that thing.

    E

  • Dude...you looked like a kid on Christmas morning when you were opening that box ;) I hope I get a package like that for Christmas!

    Cool video & tune!

    *****

    64m >:-)

  • What that is...that is what I call Moog Purgatory at its most symptomatic. It is the transition stage (that you go through mentally and physically when you order/ receive a Moog package) to Moog heaven.

    Eric

    Rhythmicons

  • Lol :) I want to make that transition some day! ;)

  • That is what it was, nicely put!

  • Or when you receive any package containing a vintage analog synthesizer!

  • That is how I felt. I can't even describe the excitement that I was feeling. I knew it was going to need a lot of work, but I was still happy that I had accomplished the goal of getting a polymoog.

Thanks for watching and take care.

    Jareth

  • Thats a great bit of music you have made really enjoyed it.Love the vid too.

  • Thank you! I thought it would be nice to show how the poly looked while it was in parts. How is your Arp doing?

  • Hi,the ARP is still in bits at the moment,I'm slowly replacing components as and when I find them to be defective.

Will post a vid of it if I ever get it going :-)

  • Great!

  • Thank you!

  • Your Polymoog looks great and you make it sound great. Thanks for sharing it.

  • Thanks, I appreciate the comment!

    Take care,

    Jareth

  • lovely sound buddie

  • Thanks!

  • Great tune.

  • Thank you!

  • Wow, what a crazy keyboard. I like the distorted sounds!

  • Thanks! The distorted sound came from my Little Phatty. I did not even have to use any effects to get that sound.

  • That Poly has the happiest home any vintage keyboard could hope for. Love the crunchy tune. Reminds me of a cross between something you'd hear between replicas and pleasure principal. Great work.

  • Thank you! I was so happy to hear the poly after the restoration.
