get so hot from extreme use. I've felt the back when I had the bass up for a little over 5 minutes, and it gets pretty warm. The vibration from the bass on to the amp isn't very good either. Babying this thing won't hurt in the long run. The "Klipsch ProMedia ULTRA 5.1" bass-box is pretty rare from what I've learned on-line. I could'nt, until this video, even find it. I just want it to last for along time, the bass is so clean. And there so many uses for this little box.
I have the same "Klipsch ProMedia ULTRA 5.1" bass-box. I got mine used without the smaller speakers. On top of that, one of the pins for the controller was bent over touching one of the other pins. So that burnt the output card's diodes. I will look into replacing that. Also, putting a fan inside the box would be an improvement, but taking the amp out of the back would be better. I want to have or make a plate for the back to cover the back up. Then make a cabinet for the amp so the amp won't-
i bought mine brand new in 2001, and still working strong, no need for the cooling fan, they have never failed, i payed $399 when they were new. The only problem is the volume control is very touchy, you cant just 'spin' it, you have to move it slow. other than that, i hope you have no neighbors, because your about to get REALLY NOISY!!! For a sound card get the xfi titanium fatality series sound card. Sounds amazing!!
I bought the Klipsch ProMedia ULTRA 5.1 set. Worth the investment? Should be here in under 2 weeks. I'll be installing a custom cooling fan in the sub and they're apparently in excellent condition w/ all cords/hook ups provided. $260 total with the cooling and shipping.
Got the Logitech z5500 only has 1 10' sub. The promedia 5.1 has 2 8's equaling 16' totalThe only good thing is that Z5500 has 5 more watts of power, but I'd rather have 6 more inches of sub than 5 extra watts, since I can probably out bump your system.
if it has 2 8 inch subs the amps shit because 5.1 the . 1 refers to how many out puts it has for subs and if it only is a 5.1 its a bodge amp on a 5.2 system and dont come back to me wit this oh yh but its better than logitech crap cause i dont have logitech
Dude, even if it does have 1 amp, it STILL does have 2 woofers.............and I bet you any money that they bump louderthan a z5500, even if it does have 1 amp
hey at least you still have sound from your 5.1's I bought mine new about 6 or 7 years ago. they were the best sounding computer speakers ever, then one tragic day they stopped working and I had to send them in for repair. klipsch charged me like 90 bucks or so to fix the amp. I got them back and they worked for only one day then they went out again. So many people had the same problem that I did... its too bad klipsch never really fixed the problem and took care of their customers.
I had the same problem with my sub dying on my 5.1 promedia ultras. I never bothered to send it off to get fixed after vreading on Klipsch's forums about people still having the same problem after it is fixed. I hate they discontinued them and fixed the problem with an upgraded sub amp. I wonder if I could get another brand sub that would work with the speakers?
The same thing happened to me. My ProMedia 5.1 speakers worked for a year and then died. They weren't cheap in price either. I loved the sound they made when they were working though. Would you happen to know if the problem was corrected? I want to buy myself the ProMedia Ultra 5.1 speakers, but my previous experience with a Klipsch product is a hangup for me.
