  • @itsdonny where on canon direct would I find the replacement piece?

  • @caseystu123 I just called their toll free number I think.

  • Going to try and replace the broken shoe on my YN-468 with the same shoe you used in this video, they look the same so ^^

  • How much did the part itself cost? I recently sent my flash to Canon to have the same thing fixed and they charged more than $100. I'm bookmarking this tute because those hot shoe mounts take a lot of abuse and mine's bound to need repair again.

  • @DebPix Saw the earlier post about the part costing just a few bucks. It figures.

  • @DebPix Deb, they're only $3.50 direct from canon. Sorry you spent so much to fix it.

  • Very good video review.... Here goes nothing... ill let you know how it goes man! lol

  • @WhatsTheTTV It's probably easier than you think.

  • hey mate, dont suppose you could help me, ive got a 580EXii. it has the 3 pin external power socket on the side, do u know what each pin is, ie +, -, ? Is the middle one just a locator? i want to connect an external battery to it, without buying the canon expensive CP-E4, any help would be great!

  • @jarrayda Yeah, I don't know off hand. You'll have to look at a diagram. Sorry.

  • You can buy a new plastic shoe direct from canon for only a few dollars.

  • @itsdonny Hi, I really find your video's informative. I was wondering if you have ever replaced the wide angle flash difuser? I snapped mine off last week. Canon want £150 to repair.

  • Hi Charlton,

I have not, but I can't imagine it would be all that difficult to do if you're a little mechanically inclined. See if you can download an exploded diagram of your flash to get a better feel for how complicated it might be. Then maybe you can make an instructional video too.

  • Hi I don't own a canon flash. but i have digital concept flash that just snapped off today. would you have any idea on where to get a mount for that? i can't find mounts at all on e.b.a.y. now the flash is useless.

  • I would contact the company directly.

  • Can you buy a mount anywhere, can't seem to found something on google, I really like both your videos. :)

  • I bought mine direct from Canon. Just give them a call. I think they cost about $3.50 USD.

  • Thank you, I will do. It seems better then paying the 150 dollar repair-bill. :)

  • Wow, I didn't know that was how much they charged to repair it. Take care.
