No problems at all. Ignore forums generally speaking... only people with problems generally post things there so it "appears" something is a bigger problem that it really is. The transmission is just fine. If you went by those forums I would think every 2011 5.0 is stuck with a dropped tranny.
great video!! I've been planning on buying a 5.0. I just wanted to ask if you have had any problems with the 6 speed manual transmission? I've been reading on one of the Ford Mustang forums that it's becoming a wide spread problem with the manual transmission. Is that true? Thank you!
let me know next time you guys are out with the mustang group. I'd like to hook up with actual track guys as apposed to the "bling" type guys. I've been to a couple local "get together's" and they all seem to be interested in mods, but none of them track. One person from our local bmwcca just bought a 5.0 and we'll be tracking together at the bmw and alfa days. my username at the pugetsound bmw boards is brycerichert as well. hope to meet you guys!
BMWCCA Oregon and Puget Sound, and Puget Sound Alfa club. That was my first day with that car... I'll post some more recent vids; I've finally tamed it. I'm getting a new suspension put in this Monday but I don't think there are any track days we can get up here until April! yikes.. it's the Pacific NW.. we have a very short season here unfortunately.
@brycerichert--BTW, congratulations on the new ride. Short season, I know, I live here too. In fact just joined the BMWCCA this year. Only had one lapping day with them so far, and appreciate those great instructors. Maybe I'll see your Kona pony at a future event. --You may know this already: The Porsche club is affiliated, and they seem to run car control clinics all winter long. Not exactly a track day, but good practice anyhow, and more fun than any day at work :)
@brycerichert Yes, I run with a group of friends that met via StangNation. We've dubbed ourselves The Midnight Runners. Our leader also commented below. :)
supposedly, if we have a track off event, and the car goes completely down, the windows will be open for assistance from track hands. Why couldn't they just break the windows to come in? I don't know... but they want both sides open for most clubs we drive with.. in fact, unless it's raining, I can't recall a club that doesn't require it.
@zeelastman correct, but still needs more brakes than the Brembos. Other than that, the cars' suspension doesn't really need too much input for track work if you quickly learn the geometry, like any other care really. I'd say it's a great car... better than my bmw (but don't tell the club!) :-)
@brycerichert iv been wanting a sporty car for a long time, i was always set on an audi s4 or possibly a g37x (canadian winters). But after all the great things iv heard about this mustang i dunno. I think i might be looking at a ford in the end and maybe buy a beater for the winters.
What gears does this car have and do you have the brembo brakes package.

Great driving. I love the video setup. I'm running VIR in a couple weeks in my '11 GT and I'll use a Sony HDRCX130 off a headrest mount.

They make us run with the windows down.. .it's a rule.

@brycerichert For what reason would they make you race with the windows open?
