Their oil cap says 5W-20 right on it, but they insist on using 10W -30. Do you think you know more than the guy who actually designed the motor? the extra viscosity is personal choice but the manufacturer (eg: honda, toyo) get better emission ratings for recommending a lower viscosity oil.

Whatever you can find cheapest that still gives you that warm, fuzzy feeling. Really, anything with an API SM rating is going to be a good engine oil, by definition, and easily capable of more than 3,000 miles.
