If lara gets "embedded" into a wall by a certain amount, the game considers this illegal, so she is placed on top of the wall. Embedding can be done by jumping up on the spot a few times next to the corner of a pillar, or by jumping at a wall with a slope. When lara lands, she falls forward a little bit, so she embeds into the wall enough to get zipped up.

Here is a very hard level. and it is very obstructive in the PS version because it is at the position in which savecrystal jumps.
