  • @alucard767blb

Lady Gaga and Rush definitely aren't in the same category... Rush is musically intensive, progressive rock, Lady Gaga is pop. That doesn't mean that Lady Gaga isn't talented.

  • epic man-just epic

  • So Phucking There . I have the original Vinyl biotches in freaking prestine condtion. O and yes also have so Lady Gaga because " I was Born that Way " got my life and loving it . Can you say the same Biotch Haters .... jusayin

  • i want this tat

  • geddy just funnin

  • pert and niel hello

  • hows it going eay lol

  • Hey justinp5960 it's youtube. There is a time limit on posts. Deal with it. remember 8 tracks? We dealt with it. I'm SICK of the haters. Free music for your ears and your bitching. Don't like it, buy it on i tunes.

  • is geddy jesus brother

  • *Facepalm* if you wanted to put it into parts, you should of stopped each at the time the music paused. Instead of ending them at random times.

  • i heard you and your music does a lot for me!

  • The forces against artistry in music: 1) The youth has a high percentage that look for a single song that they like. It's about getting a "hit". So the indusdrty funds and promotes the geared toward "single" success and does little for the arstist that focuses on a great album .RUSH's 2112 is a perfect example of some of the very best of what we can enjoy when artists are allowed to pursue the very best of what they are capable,

  • omg, you dont cut a song off in the middle.arrggh. just listened to part one. the smexybiatch should be ASHAMED. you dont get out of the car in the middle of a classic and you dont turn off a classic until it has finished, why the hell would you chop up 2112 on you tube????????? POSER! Lame! You obviously don't have the music in your blood.

  • @the48carRox amen to that

  • @the48carRox Obviously you never listened to an 8 track tape....LOL

  • @the48carRox u cant post a 30 minute video moron

  • omg, you dont cut a song off in the middle.arrggh. just listened to part one. the smexybiatch should be ASHAMED. you dont get out of the car in the middle of a classic and you dont turn off a classic until it has finished, why the hell would you chop up 2112 on you tube????????? • u cant understand how much i love u for posting this.. this is my fckin life :D

  • @Rocker9514 Just listen to yourself, you twat. "me too and the narration is amazing and makes it so much cooler" arf arf arf, you really are a mindless knob,of the first order. hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

  • Geez this song just rocks my world I hope I live to 100 I will still listen to rush.

  • tuned my gweeter to that tune 4 years!

  • no one beats rush. rush=greatest band ever

  • I believe that there is hope in music of today just look around Tool, Arcade Fire, The Temper Trap music that might be not well know like lady shit gaga but damn good music is good.

  • i wanna hear coheed and cambria cover this song. two amazing bands

  • Rush is definitely great, but I think there are better, such as:

    Coheed and Cambria

    Sonata Arctica.

  • @StalinWalrus lulz. Emo shite versus a band with three of the best rock musicians ever.

  • @daeliax... Neither of those Bands Are Emo bands. One is finnish Power Metal and the other ProgRock I guess... Neither goes about dancing around in black outfits like Goths... such as MCR..

  • @StalinWalrus comparing Rush to Coheed and Cambria is the last thing I'd do. lol They cannot be compared. They are not even similar music wise.

  • the truth is though that in america the youth plays music more for the image than for the music. take the whole screamo/hardcore genre. these artists play the same tune every time. where are the virtuosos of my generation? where are the musicians who truly seek to push the boundaries of sound? Am I the only one? I'm not trying to cast judgement, but come on, be creative! some band needs to become the RUSH of our generation!!

  • i love these guys, they have an influence in the music i write

  • @JonnyMr3330 it just sounded racist and btw i am canadian but i think obama is great but let's not get into an argument just enjoy the music

  • @1KevinsFamousChili1 nah, fuck obama. hes just another puppet, like the other presidents.

  • @JonnyMr3330 i'm not sure but that sounded racist

  • @JonnyMr3330 hahaha best comment!

  • Omg I love how Alex just easily changes the tempo at 4:36!!!

    RUSH FOREVER!!! <3

  • I've said it before and I'll say it again..... one of the greatest albums of all times!

Man, I have no idea of how many times I listened to side one of this album.

Still can't get enough of it all these decades later!

  • thank you father for bringing me up with this amazing music!

  • I love Rush AND Lady Gaga.

Both artists can exist perfectly fine separately, since they both have talent.

What we need to stop doing is forcing people apart because of their music taste, and try to find an artist that can bring brilliant music like this, back to popularity.

  • @evanescent95 I wouldn't sit through a lady Gaga song on a bet, but you are right.

I listen to this, black sabbath, Pink Floyd, Judas, Queen and on and on, but I also listen to country. Old country that I also grew up with from the late 60's and 70's as well as some new country.

Lots of good music out there if a person listens to it.

Lots of bad music also, but just because someone like you listens to Gaga, doesn't mean that you haven't got musical taste.

  • @evanescent95 Nicely said.

  • @evanescent95

I'm sorry, but did you just put RUSH and Lady fukcing no talent GAga in the same category... for shame, for shame.

  • @evanescent95 ladygaga sucks

  • this was my favorite album!! and group!

  • Would this song happen to be based on Anthem, perhaps? Hm...

  • my mom is the biggest Rush fan I know. every time i get into that woman's car, there is some Rush song playing and I can't help but rock out with her! we have a little too much fun with it, but whatever! it's Rush and they rock and we love to rock out to good 80s music! even though the 80s weren't the best era of music, there was a chunk of it that was amazing and that is the chunk i love to listen to!

  • @FullmetalEnvy2007 your mom has great taste in music!rush kicks ass!!the 80`s was an awsome era for metal!try armored saint can you deliver

  • calm seas... glentler machine gun hand ,Lol

  • this is just fucking brilliant, i am 14 again

  • My older brother had 2112 on 8 track. Remember jammin to this in the basement. Going to see Rush next Friday in Cleveland, hope to see ya there. Thanks for posting this classic!

  • 11 people need to be killed........

  • i'd like to thank my dad for introducing this music to me at a young age, modern music sucks! long live RUSH! (by the way im 12)

  • @kikoking98 I'm 14, I'm with you all the way. I think we were born in the wrong decade.

  • To anyone saying that today's music is absolute shit, and that there's nothing left: don't give up hope. There's a shitton of great music being released every day. You just have to look for it, like you always have. Yes, the mainstream sucks. It's sucked for 42 years. Trust me, there's shit music in every generation. You've just got to trawl through the shit to find the gold. And the gold is worth it every time.

  • @Lud0la ME TOO! my dad loves this music and now i do and i have always wished i could travel back to this :( todays music sucks big hairy ape balls

  • This album is probably diamond status (10,000,000+ copies sold) by now. You know what I mean, you know what I mean? HA!HA!HA!HA!HA!HA!

  • AND GIVE MUSIC!

  • this is why i play guitar

  • guys dont mention pop stars name your in the presence of a legendary band

    have some respect guys

  • Prog Rock is the most underrated genre of music ever why are these guy not in the R&R hall of fame

  • @nivekasd They don't fit the plan

  • @khakivideos sometimes they make it through. Pink Floyd did. And so did Genesis for a while (but only AFTER they stopped being prog rock.) some zeppelin stuff is prog rockish. their most famous song Stairway to Heaven is a perfect example. Muse, IMO the BEST prog rock band ever to exist on planet earth just won a grammy. unfortunately though the Lady Gagas and Justin Beibers and Chris Browns of the world will sell immorality and sex, so they get more famous since they do fit "the plan"

  • @Porojukaha I would think Beaver (Bieber, whatever) would sell over morality. He's like Donny Osmond or Pat Boone. (This is a grave insult for those who don't know what I'm talking about). I'm not sure if Muse fits the definition of prog though. They're not bad, but I don't consider them progressive.

  • One of the greatest songs of all time!!

Along with one of the greatest bands of all time!!

  • *cream*

  • GH and RB are fun games, but it pisses me off when i go to songs like this and see a shitload of "This song is in Guitar Hero!" comments.

  • @MrFrankCalzone you should be happy, not pissed. I don't get why so many people hate on guitar hero. It gets the band and genre's names out there to the kids who need to hear it!! Rock and metal needs all the help it can get right now.

  • The most under rated band, period! best on the planet...

  • Write the lyrics on sheets of paper and you have a story book. Damn, Rush is amazing and Neil Peart is brilliant.

  • Has anyone who is an artist thought about maybe making an animated movie about this song?

  • One of the best pieces of rock music period. Super creative, intelligent, and great musicianship. Never to be topped. When you listen to the message they might have called it 2012.

  • I'm 16 years old. But I hate todays music.

I wish I could travel back in time when this kind of music was played.

I love music like this(the real music) and that's becuse of my dad.

    Thank you!

  • @Lud0la Don't worry about time travel. Pick up and guitar and fix it.

  • @bondking501 Just need to learn how to play the guitar :P

  • @Lud0la thats awesome

  • Comment removed

  • @Lud0la Same with my dad. I think some of todays music is okay but the stuff back in the 70's and 80's is the real meaningful music.

  • @123wickedsweet dont forget about the 60's :D

  • @123wickedsweet Yeah! Best of all time!

  • @Lud0la Theres good music today. You just have to look for it. Go listen to Mutemath i promise you will like them. Try Muse too. Their more obscure stuff. Its like modern day Rush. You might also like Dream Theater, Theres also tons of other great guitarists still making things today. like Joe Satriani. He even started a new band recently. Theres lots of great indie music out there too, like Scissors for Lefty. You just have to look harder these days.

  • @Porojukaha I know. I love Muse and Joe Satriani. I love all music in this kind of Genre. All kind of rock...like glam and classic. That's what I meant.

  • @Lud0la you should try dream theater, they are relativley new but still really good

  • @Lud0la Don't think that you're the first to make this statement. I hear so many people preach the same tune "I hate today's music." I'm fifteen. Okay yeah, I can never live the moment when this album hit the shelves or I can't see the rise and fall of Rock N' Roll and Heavy Metal first hand. It is a tragedy. But think of the time line of music like getting stoned. You do it every day and it will suck after a month. But if you wait a month between joints every time will feel great. Scale it up!

  • @GuitarArmy95 makes sence haha

  • @Lud0la Not all of todays music is bad, you just gotta look around for the good stuff a bit more. It's not like the ability to write music was lost in time. Dream Theater, Tool, Porcupine Tree and Radiohead are all somewhat new-ish (Early ninties formed, peaking in the 20's) but all brilliant bands.

  • @WeedKrop More importantly, never before has anybody had as much access to music as we do now. Nowadays you can find anything on the internet. Good or bad. Which is why a lot of old bands like Rush are picking up larger audiences than they've ever had.

  • @UnDead483 Agreed. That's what makes it so accessible. There IS good music out there.

  • @WeedKrop Yeah I know! But it's all based on music back in time! ;)

  • @WeedKrop well yah thats ture but idk if anyone can truly be like rush if you get what i mean

  • @WeedKrop wut the fuck u talkin bout i mean there is good music 2day but not that shit ha ha try fuckin slipknot bitch none of that poser stoner fuckin bullshit

  • @miniriver What you on about? The guys I was talking about are all amazing modern artists. Not stoners. Slipknot are talentless dipshits. They're the stoners.

  • @WeedKrop In a sense, it was. All the greatest writers and artists came out to play the music of their generation. Although there are musicians that play this style now, there aren't going to be many musical geniuses expressing their talent anymore because it isn't the popular style. Writers like Neil Pert won't start writing like that anymore. The style is dead unless we get lucky and it comes back into style.

  • @WeedKrop You forgot Muse x.x

  • @WeedKrop Lost me at Tool. But Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foo Fighters, brilliant.

  • @ekimr90 Why did I lose you at Tool? Do you not like Tool? They're an amazing band.

Can't say I care much for those two bands honestly

  • @WeedKrop finally someone who thinks like i do. There's good and bad music in every era music. you gotta look for it. I will say that most of the music today is pretty sad though (bieber, lady gaga, ect.... just makes me want to vomit sometimes lol).

  • @Lud0la It was a wild and Beautiful Time

  • @workinprogress101 Totally agree!

  • @Lud0la Agree Olli Ollas trolololol

  • @Starfelt94 lololol toraol o:D

  • @Lud0la they still are touring. . .

  • @Lud0la no truer words have ever been spoken me too

  • @ottman714 Thank you!

  • @Lud0la

i'm 17 and i totally agree with you

thank god my parents are rockers!

  • @CurlyheadRockergirl haha rock on!

  • @Lud0la My dad saw Rush in 1976 right when 2112 was released. They played a roller rink in a Chicago suburb and tickets were $5.00 ! Such humble beginnings....

  • @zkxv Awesome!

  • @Lud0la your father must love you so much!

  • @unclefungus Yes he does ;)

  • @Lud0la Yeah most of todays music is truly trash, but there are a few groups/acts that have real potential. Queens of the Stone Age, Kings of Leon and their ilk still give me hope. I was raised on Rush, Alice Cooper, Cheap Trick, Frank Zappa, Three Dog Night, David Bowie, AC/DC. Don't give up man, the magic is still there, go out there and make it your own.

  • @JtotheD1 Queens of stone age and kings of leon (y)

Frank Zappa and AC/DC is my dads favorites!

  • @Lud0la I'm exactly like you, everything you just said, except for one thing.

    I'm 12. :D

  • @jerrythepotato1919 hahaha I love to hear that ;)

  • @Lud0la I wish all the 16 years old guys were like you!the world will be better!

  • @TheNodel I'm glad to hear that! Thank you my man. Yeah it would be...

  • @Lud0la I agree w/ Lud0la, there's plenty of good stuff out there. People make a lot of comments like this, but if you look hard enough you'll find it-just not in the mainstream.

  • @FatmanCaufield Yeah I know. But it's in the same genre.. I mean music like Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga if u know what I mean ;)

  • @Lud0la shut up...theres still "real music." you just have to find it.

  • @thychaos read the other comments please.. I mean music like Bieber and Gag is bad... KOM IN I MATCHEN!

  • @Lud0la I agree completely. but i still like eminem because his songs are all about his life and that is what i like

  • @Randomguy547 eminem is awesome ;)

  • the sleep is stil in my eye the dream is still in my head

  • this song is amazing

for a long time i thought moving pictures and a handfull of songs from other albums were there best. during that time i never heard the rest of the song after the temples of syrinx

  • well, i am not a racist, but for the guy who said that this came out "before the jews and niggers ran the music" i am sorry to say but pretty much a lot of jews were already running the music industry at this point in the seventies. sorry.

  • @FoundationAndEmpire1 Lol funny thing about that is that Getty Lee is actually a Jew himself, and his parents are actually Holocaust survivors. So they idiot who made that comment, is just a ignorant cunt that has no fucking clue what hes talking about. Which is what most Anti-Semitic people are like.

  • This old rock and roller named Louie I used to work with introduced me to Rush. We'd take a trip to bangkok and jam to Hemispheres. I'm forever grateful for that.

  • That sure brings me back... :)

    Thanks...

  • the children of the Sun have arrived!

No album has ever used such a wicked storyline and if you DON"T like it then i feel sorry for you.The rest of us RUSH fans will enjoy and never tire of hearing it.

  • As if a guitar that hass been lost for years is still perfectly in tune.

  • @karmabiscuits Apparently you don't have a good ear, otherwise you would have heard him tuning it. It's quite clear.

  • @Jitpring But how did he know what tuning it had to be in if he's never seen it before? o_O

  • @Jitpring And the first time you hear the strings they are in tune.

  • @karmabiscuits Absolutely false. Your ear needs some serious training.

  • @Jitpring The first 3 notes you hear are g b and e all on their own separate strings. Listen closer.

I do know what I'm talking about.

  • Each within himself, altogether, by themselves, in perfection.

  • An all time fave... Not sure about later comments... there is them & us in everything... the work place, local politics, religion & race.

Seems to be that this tune has triggered emmotions in people with similar basic concerns about how it all works these days....

It is the easiest thing in the world to critisise somebody else!

Not so simple to change it.

  • forget about your silly whim, it doesn't fit the plan.

    Fuckin' awesone.

  • Ten people want us to forget about our silly whim. It doesn't fit the plan.

  • there a guy on here that does rush songs on a ukelele. he is actualy pretty good

  • If you listen closely while having an eargasm, you can hear you eardrums cumming.

  • I don't believe in 2012, just 2112.

  • it's nothing new, just a waste of time...

  • Justin Bieber made 10 accounts and clicked dislike on this song :)

  • RUSH---"2112"

  • to everyone saying "oh geddy lee is a jew blah blah blah" STFU!!!. beyondneptune is just talkin bout the producers and record companys not the musicians, although i dont agree with him

  • to who ever disliked go fuck yourself.

  • In the novel it's a light bulb, on the album a guitar. So cool.

  • 1:54 IS WHEN THE BEST PART COMES UP

  • I first heard this album over thirty years ago when I stole it out of my brothers bedroom along with his Queen albums. I was about eleven and my friends thought me a rather strange little girl as they were listening to the Bay City Rollers and the Osmonds. This is the first time in about 25 years that I have listened to it and it is still as powerful (although I have always thought that in 'discovery' the words 'it's got wires that vibrate' sound like Kermit the frog is singing them!)

  • @MsDiamonddust You must've been one bad ass eleven year old. I'm twenty two and this album/masterpiece is one of the greatest things my ears have ever had the honor of hearing. Mind you I mostly listen to Deathcore/Heavy metal so that say something.

  • @o0L3G3ND0o Thank you that's quite a compliment. Unfortunately my other albums of choice at that time were slightly less credible i.e "Bat Out of Hell" - Meat Loaf, "Eye in the sky" - The Alan Parsons Project, "Warrior" - Scandal and lots of Billy Joel.

  • @Chocl8215

Well, Discovery is a magic guitar!! :D

  • Let's raise the bar on this discussion. I'm an American old fart (46) who thinks this dystopian prediction has foreshadowings for US right now: 101 years early.

HINT: Obama and his cohort are the priests!
