This is wrong. An officer does not need "probable cause" to detain you. He only needs the lower standard of "reasonable suspicion" for a detention. But keep in mind that it might piss them off. And many cops believe that they can make you shut off your camera. That simply IS NOT TRUE.

There are plenty of lawyers who take advantage of people. But that doesn't apply in this case. These attorneys are public defenders who work for the County, not high-paid private lawyers. They take the cases of people who cannot afford attorneys. Their caseload is assigned to them by the County. They would receive no benefit from telling people the wrong information because chances are very slim that they'll end up defending any of those people.

Well, I looked it up and your right, my apologies to you. I've never heard it descrbed as "Utopia", that blew my mind!

I also agree the "war on drugs" is a joke. Its all about the money, but thats not to say I'm for drug use, I think weed should be legal but none of the 'hard drugs'. They can really destroy lives, I know, I've seen it.

I still have to disagree on your other point. You cannot punish someone for doing something worth punishing if there is not laws on the books making it illegal before they do the act. Its sad that the few, can ruin things for he many, but how else can we deal with it? Its life.

let me explain my other point better, heres a simple example. in a free society a man driving at night would be able to drive without his lights on, however if he damaged anything or hurt anyone, would bear full responsibility. Now most of us wouldn't be dumb enough to try but free to do so if desired.

Or take your example of firing a gun, most of us wouldn't try, but freedom means if i really felt it was necessary i could build a range in my back yard, being responsible for whatever happened

Your forgetting your responsibility to your fellow man. Its just a matter of time before he WILL get someone killed driving without lights. He might be held accountable for it yet the dead person is still dead, what if it was your loved one?

And how would you like it it your neighbor was allowed to biuld a shooting range, would you want to hear gun fire all day? What if a stray bullet kills you while sitting in your kithcen?

no i absolutely agree with that, we do have a responsibility, but saying that is 'governments' job to regulate is to say we can't make that decision on our own, and is actually a pretty new idea. Your right, some people can't, but really its a very small minority. your thinking though stems from gov being inherently good when really it can only ever be a coercive monopoly. which in every instance they will twist good intentions into a power and money grab.

The difference between your example and personal drug use is that your example of reckless driving and irresponsible gun use puts everyone else in danger. In effect you are putting others right to life in danger. That is why laws exist against things of this nature. Do you believe the government has a right to tell you what to do with your own body? If so to what extent? If you don't have full ownership and decision making responsibility for your own body what else would you have us give up?

You make a great argument about personal drug use & should the gov't control what we do to our own bodys. I don't know.

My fear is the effect it would have on society as a whole. So many addicts are unable/unwilling to work, have mental health issues, are on public assitance, have broken homes & are homeless, lives destroyed and cost us billions in health care bills

Also, Denmark OR Sweden,(I'm not sure which)tried semi-legalization of hard drugs & it didn't work out.

The thought was to give only present addicts free narcotics(which cost nearly nothing)until they died off, but not non-drug users, in an effort to eliminate drug dealers and drug users. It didn't work for some reason(been years since I read about it) and the drug dealers simply turned to burglary robbery & hold-ups. Check it out.

I don't have all the anwers. I just know drugs destroy lives.

You see my arguement is based on the ordinary reasonable prudent person who possess the degree of personal responsibility not to become an addict in the first place. Of course legalization for drugs for addicts only won't work bc any substance abuser, drug addicts and alcoholics alike, have already displayed deviant behavior and in that case should be in rehab not jail. My point is if responsibility were taught from a young age then govt interference isn't neccessary and adults can live free...

Good advice-Go CopWatch! However, in West Virginia, they'll just make it up and lie about it on the stand. You can scream you don't consent to a search, you want an attorney and the search continues and the questions keep coming. They will write your statement for you and get angry when you won't sign it or admit on tape that it is correct. West Virginia is the Banana Republic of the U.S. They'll use the made up info to lie to a judge to get a warrant. Video and Audio Tape everything!
