on enemy ships can you go into free roam and see them walking around? also if you attack them will thare be survivors in the water and dead bodies floating in the water?

@werewolf22411 Yes you can see the people walking around on enemy ships and yes you can free roam and get close to the ships.

There are no bodies or people in the water although you do see them jump ship sometimes and land in the water the only thing left after a ship has gone down is bits of wood and boxes from the ship.

@01PERKSY011 It would class more as a simulator than game, you control the captain of a German U-Boat in first person. You give orders, you chat with the crew to help keep up morale, you blow up ships and shoot down airoplanes, that sort of thing.

I probably play it wrong, because Iam chasing for ghost ships for hours (or if I use time compression and get sunk almost immediately). And can you tell me how long can be submarine under water until battery is empty and level of CO2 become dangerous?

@SlyDessertFox Destroyers are smaller compared to merchant ships, their draft is lesser etc. They get huge damage compared to merchants and go down quickly.

@xprinceofspainx You can, but theres every chance you might get torpedo bombed by a plane passing by or run into an armed task force and get blown to pieces, unless you are submerged you might run out of oxygen or the batteries powering your electric motors might go flat and youd end up at the bottom of the ocean, doing more nothing.

The graphics look pretty good, I like the ocean waves....really well made.

Personally id give this game an 8.5 at least.

My guess as to the reason behind the 5/10 score on gamespot is the Ubisoft DRM.

@dima9944 If your a console kid you might prefer to play something like Little big Planet or Street Fighter.

The Silent Hunter series are a thinking mans type of game, more of a simulator than a game really. You only get these types of games on PC they are too confusing and too boring for console gamers.

So i supposed it depends who you are and what type of thing your into. Some people like strategy and realism, others like playing games that don't require too much level of intelligence.

@ArmyDogtag6 You can get both for pretty cheap now. IMO, IV is the better SIM but V is the better GAME. Most SH III vets prefered SH IV to this newer one but I think a lot of that was due to the steeper system requirements required for SH V compared to SH III & IV.

SH IV = £5.91 (amazon. co. uk) $8.44 (Amazon. com)

@Coiil1 I cant really help you because I dont know what laptop you have, google "can you run it" click on the first result which will take you to system requirements lab. Type 'Silent Hunter 5' into the search box and click on the button that says 'can you run run it'. It will install a java app that will analyse your system specs and tell you weather your laptop is up to the task.

there is not a lot difference with a laptop or a desktop. 2 rules: a good pc with good component and keep it cold very cold!! =)
