No need to defend yourself, hitting a fish directly on the cortex (top of the head) will kill it instantly (if hit with a blunt object hard), this is considered the most humane way without spoiling the meat.

Yes. We were children. And we were excited to kill our first fish. If at first you don't succeed.. whack again. I can understand why youd be disgruntled. This movie, without being there, comes across as inhumane, unjustified, cruel, sick and even a little juvenile. By no means do I excuse the horror this little blip might have caused but I assure you, it was done with the utmost of innocence. That whole day became an epic adventure of catching, and killing, and eating our first fish.
The killing was done as humanely as we knew how at the time. Obviously, we wouldn't do it this way again. But quite honestly didn't know better.
I put this movie online not taking into consideration how it would come across. I am sorry for any, if not all, the unpleasant things you must have experienced as you watched it. I WILL take it off if it bothers you. Its not worth the contention.
Oh, by the way, since you emphatically expressed the desire for me to "grow up"...
I think you'd be satisfied in knowing I HAVE grown up. I'm also very proud to say I have learned, through several fishing experiences, to end the fish with compassion.
