  • Wunderbar!!! How are the studies? Been away good to see you again!

  • Wunderbar!!!

  • Likey!

  • Would you mary me?

  • You're very intriguing. Question: do I hear an iensy tiensy little bit of a Dutch accent buried in there somewhere?

  • @a1mint I have a video dedicated to explaining my accent, if you're interested, hehe :) No Dutch or German in there ^^

  • George Orwell said, "Writing a book is a horrible exhausting struggle, like a long bout with some painful illness, one would never undertake such a thing if one were not driven by some demon one could niether resist nor fully comprehend". Good luck with your demon! LOL!

  • Jennifer... well...thanks to this video I'm right in the middle of this year's NaNoWriMo... :)

I joined up with three days delay so I'm a bit behind schedule, but I hope to catch up by the end of this week... so far I'm 4.157 into my novel, and having a lot of fun...

Your advices here, by the way, have been rather useful, so thank you for them and for bringing this event to my attention... I might even survive it... ;)

Best wishes for you, you studies and your job Jennifer.

  • So will you be taking up smoking and drinking while locked away in a hotel room? Ha,ha! Good luck!

  • NaNoWriMo... I can't think of anything nice to say about it

  • this is my first year of nanowrimo. my username is sammieseagull. any advice gratefully received

  • @sammieseagull Welcome to the insanity, Sammie! :>) Probably the best advice for a NaNo-N00b is Jennifer's: make your wordcount every day. Some days, it can be rough to write all 1667 words, but falling too far behind and knowing that you need to write 5000 or 10,000 words in one day to catch up is even rougher. And MY best advice for any NaNo-newcomer is this: DO NOT EDIT. At all. Write sloppy, write quick, and let your first draft suck. They always do anyway, so embrace it! Good luck!

  • @ChannelJohnIsOn Thanks JOhn. I've been writing like mad to be sure to get my 1667 words a day. It really IS hard work isnt it? Thanks for the awesome advice, I sooooooooooooooo appreciate it!!!!

  • We'll miss you at NaNo this year, Jen. (=

  • the website won't load. :(

  • Hey its Nessa! I'm going to log in to my NaNo account as soon as i can remember my password is lol. and I'll definitely add you. Still dont know exactly what I'll do but as soon as my finger touch the keyboard it will come to me. <3

  • @raven, sidenote, apparently the site is doing massive maintenance, not surprising .

  • I've had several story ideas buzzing around for a while, but have yet to commit to anything. I think I might join in. :)

  • You know what..... you've inspired me to do this. I saw your video for NaNoWriMo last year, and thought it sounded interesting, but never actually got to it. But it sounds absolutely thrilling to write a bunch of unedited crap just for the joy of writing itself. I'm going to sign up now!

  • are u just 23 yrs old??????? i shud do all these fun writing as well, and im a year older!

  • Hi Jen. You are a creative inspiration to all of us. You would be surprised how many people are watching your channel, and receive your positive influences. So this video was a wonderful service to inspire many would-be writers to give it a try. We all thank-you! Your passion for writing was so evident in this video, it warmed my heart to watch it! Brian. A seed once planted must sprout one day. Maybe not his year, but the next, or the next. The seed of the Writer is bursting inside of you.

  • I'm already writing 50,000 words and have two weeks left to get it finished. Writing a World of Warcraft magazine. If you need any help with your edit let me know...

  • You know what I might just have a go!

  • Did I see you in the Book Readings scene in the movie "Hereafter"?

  • good luck . i could never do that due to my short attention span.. um ... i want a cookie so i will finish this comment later.

  • After missing it two years in a row, I can finally say that im participating in nanowrimo this year! It was really difficult deciding which book idea I was actually going to develop. Harder than it perhaps should have been.

Ive added you as a friend.

  • Sounds like fun-too bad I'm talentless. Looking forward to reading your story, though.

  • Last year was the first time I'd heard about NaNoWriMo. I recall watching your video. This year, I'm planning to participate and I just made a video on it too! A year ago, I wouldn't have expected to be participating but youtube videos like yours helped inspire me. Its great you made a video for it this year even though you can't partake. Time is definitely a factor! Good luck with your editing!

Btw, your hair looks nice all lengths!

  • i always love your videos your eyes are so radiant i hope you put out more soon i love them

  • Yay for more videos!

One useful tool for writing under pressure is 'Write or Die' where you set a word count and a time limit. The tool has different levels of prompts, from a pop-up box, to an annoying noise, to the ultimate, which starts to delete your work if you stop for too long! Worth a look for people who tend to over think things and just need a stream of consciousness to get going.

(PS - your hair looks cool!)

  • @zebidee55 Hi Zeb. Gosh! That sounds intense. Haha. Sort of like a Nazi Interrogation Writer's Camp. "We have ways to make you write!" Write! Write again, you sniveling pig! You don't want "Mr. Thingy" to shock you again, do you? -I didn't think so!" Haha! Brian.

  • @LoveMattersMost Unsurprisingly, Germany is in second place on the worldwide Word Count Scoreboard. How's that for "motivation"? (c;

  • @AericWinter Hi Andreas! Thanks for taking my Nazi comment in good humor! I was afraid I'd just lost a few of my German friends! Oh no! : ( I'm not surprised Germany is in second place! It's a land of scholars, writers, musicians, and scientists. They wouldn't even issue me a passport for a weekend visit! I admire writers. In fact the only "skeleton" in my closet is my hidden desire to be one! Oh wait, looking around my closet-something else!-Hey! It's lady Gaga! How'd you get in my closet?

  • @LoveMattersMost Hahaha, the whole Nazi thing is *so* 1943. (c;

As for the literary skeleton in your closet, that is exactly the reason NaNoWriMo was created. Please tell me you're taking part this year, my friend.

  • @AericWinter Andreas, I am touched (truly) by your invitation and urging to join the NaNos' this year I feel a novel is too much to attempt at my present skill level. Much like running a Marathon after first starting to jog, but I won't weenie-out completely. I will try to write at least one readable short story this month. My first baby-step to fulfilling a dream of being a writer! : ) What will you do with your Novel? Will you make a video discussing it and reading excerpts? Yes! Please!

  • @LoveMattersMost Heh, the way it's going right now, I think a video with excerpts from my NaNo novel would be flagged for poor style. But after editing in December... who knows? In any case, I'm writing in German. Sorry.

  • Interesting. Never heard of that. Thumbs up! :)

  • Oh god, I did Nanowrimo for five years. Of course I failed a few years at the end of highschool, although now that I'm free I hope to get back into winning. But I think the thing I like the most is the people that come together, even if it's just throwing around ideas, I'd love to keep people around like that all the time.
