Have seen this movie 4 time now.I never ever like to watch a movie more than say,,,,twice but,,,,,this movie becaue of the exellent acting that these two men dish out make it sooo entertaining to see.The plot is an 8 but the acting holds this baby together so well.YOull never forget the ship launching part as it is a monterous peice of action that youll probably never see again simply because it is so realistic(altho it is not,,,it would cost millions to duplicate that 5 minute scene.

The second movie is supposed to take place on a train.Most people hate the clostrophobic confinement that a movie gives you when it is shot on a train.A ship would have been much much better to shoot a movie on simply because there is far more room on a ship.Too bad because it can utterly wreck a movie.

Downey Jr was perfect casting because Holmes was a coke fiend in the original books. A functional intelligent coke fiend with a sardonic wit. Didn't have to even see the film to know, ok that's perfect casting. The fact that him and Watson have a House thing going on is the icing on the cake... Since House is based on Holmes in a hospital (the name is even a pun)

I think this movie is just a more simplistic lighter maybe even livelier adaptation for the younger more Generic generation lol. Yeah I know thats not very fair is it. I dont know, I just think they should have either cast Jonny Depp or Hugh "House" Laurie in the role. Mainly because If you've ever saw Depp in that film "From Hell," he is basically doing Sherlock. And Well every time I look at Hugh he just is a spit for Sherlock.

As an avid Sherlock Holmes fan, while I was annoyed at a number of changes done to the characters and situations from the books, I was able to completely throw that stuff out the window and enjoy the movie on it's own terms and it's a LOT of fun! I certainly wouldn't mind seeing more, though it saddens me that it took making the series into an action adventure to get the general public interested in Sherlock again...

The real messed up thing was that on that District 9, Sherlock Holmes hell NOT even Avatar won best film of the year 2009 but the Hurt Locker did...pfft...that was as disappointing as when Twilight won best film in the MTV movie awards of 2009(Harry Potter was 2nd)

Downey rightfully deserved to received the Golden Globe for playing Sherlock. I'm a little disappointed that is he not being nominated for an Oscar this year because he potrayed the Sherlock Holmes I always wanted to see in a film.

this film portrays holmes more accurately than any of the previous versions. in doyle's books, holmes is a mopey, drug-addled loner who gets extremely depressed between cases. his room is a complete mess, though organized in a way he fully remembers. so ritchie didn't "pump it up a lot" - he actually made a more faithful version than anyone has.

I know, this prorobably will get many thumbs down, but this movie was not that good at all. When Guy Ritchie would have picked another setting, this yould be a decent movie by his standards. But make an action film with Sherlock Holmes? And these typical Guy Ritchie style elements like the sudden speed up and slow down? Also, this fighting scene at the beginning - who wasn't like "Yawn, seen it in Snatch already"?
