Interesting! I was cracking up after the first 2-1/2 minutes cuz you were telling so much about what you were gonna do & I was thinking to myself, "OK, get on with it now man! I want to hear the tunes!!" hahahaha
I'd love to see you play the pipes some day; maybe at the next games! It was nice meeting you last nite at "the pub". Take care. Let's stay in touch.
the piper who won the victoria cross at dargi was piper gerorge finletter of the gordon highlanders he won it cause on the charge up the hill he got shot in both ankles and to keep the moral of the troops and the fighting spirit he got propped up against a rock and kept playing legend has it he played cock o the north the regiment quick march of the gordon highlanders but the facts of the tune played are a bit hazzy you can find out more about george at the gordon highlanders museum in aberdeen
Thanks for posting, I know the details having read about them quite recently. It was interesting that the piper's version of which tune was played differed from the official account at the time. He stated that he played Cock O' the North because it's tempo was fast and fit the pace of the charge. It's quite amazing to imagine this guy shot in both feet thinking about a suitably fast tune to play for the charge he'd just been wounded in.
Yea I saw that vid recently. You do a good job and I like your vids. One small suggestion, you could work on your posture, you seem slightly hunched over your pipes when playing. On Castle Dangerous; I noticed that you don't go straight from a D to a double D when repeating the first measure but throw in a quick low A or something, I think it works well but is that the correct setting? I'm always eager to learn so thanks in advance for your answer.
oh yea my posture! Iv'e always had people comment on that when I was taking lessons, in the band, and in competition. I don't know what my problem is really. Do you think my blowstick might be too short? As far as the low A thing goes I just liked it that way so I played it that way however my sheetmusic says to play it the way you played it.
Stand upright when you're playing with your head facing forward and see if your blowpipe reaches. I don't think that's the problem, you're just not standing upright, it should be easy to fix and easy to tell if the blowpipe is short.
stop talking and play already

P.S. Technically I didn't repeat the first measure so I cheated ;-) but that is how I play it when repeating.
