I agree with the comments before me! It is, however, important to keep in mind that most people upload to youtube for family and friends and for fun. I have uploaded my take on the "o what a noble mind..." monologue if anyone would like to see it! :) The costumes look great and the video quality is excellent! :)
@AnnieDancingPrincess Actually, a soliloquy is to be delivered to the audience, not to be spoken to oneself. Teachers often it is to oneself because the character is alone on stage, but this completely ignores the intimate relationship between spectacle and spectator, actor and audience in Shakespeare's dramatic technique. It's called playing out, and it's not just for asides. Problem is this actor lacks vocal variety and is merely "painting the lines" with a general emotion instead of acting.
It's so wierd see this done in an American accent

I hate that so many directors cling to the idea that Hamlet needs to be a the prettiest boy at the audition.

I love Hamlet in this scene, but Ophelia is too forceful. Lovely acting, but it didn't seem like Ophelia to me.

why is he talking to the camera? and his Shakespeare voice?
SomeKnowMeAsWesto 1 year ago
@SomeKnowMeAsWesto It's a soliloquy...he should be talking to himself. I don't think he should be looking at the camera or the audience.
