  • is wayne dedrick in this video

  • this is sangin ! do u hear me !

  • This is my first time hearing this group. I enjoyed both clips. They sound great. Lead singer was awesome!

  • What year did "Just Faith" come out? Camp Meeting was around 1959 with an illustration of a big tent on the front. We use to get these sides direct from Peacock saying " not for sale" to plug on our broadcast on W.I.L.D.

  • @revhcrayton Was released in 1957

  • @revhcrayton @gospellin i have all recordings from paul arnold with the originals and i have live video concert recordings with originals..

  • I use to their first album: Camp Meeting

  • @revhcrayton Their 1st album was titled Just Faith

  • I'm a native daytonian & had a car record player. they played the record upside down.

You bought them at Maxie's Sunoco station on Germantown St. 1965 this was.

  • sound of heaven!

  • The Gospelaires were very innovative. Their performances were energetic and often filled with high 1st and 2nd tenor parts. Their signature song, "When I Get In Glory" was a unique take of on the nursery rhyme, "Old McDonald Had a Farm". But you better believe they were smoking when they sang this song.

  • Would you be interested in doing a radio program honoring my father the late paul arnold in Feb. with Bob Marovich of WLUW-FM Gospel memories. if so let me know email me at khadijahali97@yahoo.com To: Gospellin

  • Needed some inspiration on a Fri. morning, this one always does it for me. The video is shaky but the power of the performance comes through. Amen brothers

  • I'm going to bring the 'pomp' back!! Oh yes!!!

  • 3girlzz yeah i have that album. l would like to post music on you tube but have no clue of how to do it. lf anyone care to teach or tell me how i would appreciate it thank you.

  • I love viewing these videos. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to witness quartet and small choir singing of this era. I'm 53 yrs old and I've waited a long time to see hear and feel gospel music this way again. My dad comes from the quartet era, (The Brooklyn Skywys.) Me and my family could hardly wait for my dad's group to be scheduled on the "program" @ Washington Temple. This brings back so many memories. Thank u.

  • Does anyone remember the twilights of Brooklyn, and also the South Land Singers?

  • @Arbed225 Who was your Dad in the Skyways? My Dad booked them with Johhny Peoples. He was the first to bring them to Boston. We had them many times. The best concert was with the Hightower Brothers around 1962.

  • @revhcrayton My dad is (he's still living) Levern Robinson from the Skyways. He better known as "Vaughn or Vern" He is one of the original organizers of the group. He sang tenor and baritone. Also played bass and guitar. But back in 1962, I believe he sang tenor most of the time.

  • @Arbed225 Was he the light skinned man with red hair? And I believed he had a daughter who also played bass There was another short brother who also played bass and sang lead behind Peoples. Thay all know my Dad Rev Huston Crayton Sr. I remember how impressed I was when they got a contract with Peacock.I miss them . They were good. They could sing with the best, In 1962 they came to town with royal purple suits and white shoe!

  • @revhcrayton . Yes. my dad , Vaughn, had slightly reddish hair back then. I am his daughter I do play bass. The other short guy who played bass and sang lead is Willie Johnson.

  • @Arbed225 Yes Willie liked to dance when he played. I remember when you came to Boston and played at Full Gospel in Doechester. I played Bass then.I was impressed with your playing. Very Professional. The Skyways alway had a professional sound and poise. They could oprn big shows or come behind the best and still put it over.I wish they would put some of their Peacock stuff on youtube.Give my regards to your dad and willie and the rest. They had a little thin guitar player who had a nice touch.

  • @revhcrayton : Thank u for the kind words about the Skyways. I will relay them to my dad. He will appreciate it. Yes Wille Johnson would dance and praise the Lord all afternoon. The slim guitar player was Sam Edwards. He went home to be with the Lord about 7 years ago. I still play bass.

  • @Arbed225 I also know Fhilip Johnson and Keith. We booked them in Boston on the 60's and 70'. Spiritual Voices. We were the Crayton Singers. We never went as far as the Skyways and Spiritual Voices. My Dad booked The Gospel Giants, The Singingaires, Big Dan, The Heavyweights FREQUENTLY, My dad and Jimmy Early Byrd were the Premeir Gospel Promoters in Boston 1957- 1973 We fed the Gospel Groups when they were booked at our house including Candy Staton and The Gospel Jewels, Souls Seekers of NJ

  • I am grateful and honored for all the reply's and responses to this Sensational Group. I have doing a lot of research on the History I started this search right after my father died. The Gospelairs were not only famous for their music, they were the Topp Quartet of their time. They were forerunnhers and pioneers in the music industry. Singing their way through the "Chittlin Circuit and all over the world. Be blessed.

  • Wow! I remember a family group in my church singing, "Joy" around 1970. I was 10 years old. I was googling their song, "Wonderful Jesus" as it just popped in my mind just now after all these years! I didn't find "Wonderful Jesus" (great song), but was really happy to see this upload. The message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, in word or in song, lives on, for it endures forever (Isaiah 40:8)!

  • sang, sang, sang, whew!!

  • Bob Washington had a more visceral or crude style like Julius Cheeks which worked well in 50's Gospel. Paul was a lot smoother and more versatile.Their best song with Paul was "When I Get in Glory".It was very innovative for the time,an up tempo Gospel.I had it on a Peacock 45.I was playing it in my dad's car record player, forgot and left it on the seat and it warped. Anybody remember car record players? The year was 1965.I was 16 ,just got my license.I drove my dad's 1962 Cadillac Coupe D......

  • You've got me on this one/ I don't remember any car record players , maybe someone else will

  • That was before the 4 track and then 8 track players which hung around much longer, the cassette, now Cd's.I hardly use my CD player. I use my mp3. ipod and sattelite radio. What next.? I wish my father was alive to witness Youtube and the wonders of the computer!

  • I thought the song was called JOY

  • Thank you it has been corrected
