Photographers, Artist in all, Truly own their craft, when learning from those like Steve McCurry, or even Ansel Adams, who took Photographs, but caprured so much more. Thank you for your inspiring me, an Artist.
@AntiIgnorantDimwit It's difficult now, because of stock agencies. But if someone wants to get there they should focus on something local, something that one can work on for a period of years, where repeated access isn't difficult. Trying to fly to some exotic place in hopes of becoming a magnum or NG photographer isn't likely to work. Bust tail on a local issue and develop a strong portfolio and the doors might budge a little.
Hello everyone. I know alot of you will stop reading right NOW, but that's OK, because I know if you have an open mind you'll listen. I've always wanted to be a photographer and now I finally have a digital SLR. I started a website, hoping people would naturally look at my pictures, but now I see that's now how the internet works! :) I'm not forcing you at all, but if you'd like to check out my pictures, I have alot of pride in them. 2:58 I was shocked and stunned at this image: a black, burned corpse with a destroyed tank... I stopped the video, look closer for some time, and realized how war can be suck like this...
I could care less about his camera... I want his eyes! I'm reminded of a story told by the great classical guitarist, John Williams, he said, a fan came up to him after a performance as said, "I would give anything to play the guitar like you." Williams responded by saying, "Would you give eight hours a day for ten years?" I think to a great extent the same story would apply here, the camera is incidental, one has to put in the time, lots of time, many exposures, before one can see like SM.
@paintingwithlight totally agree. Makes me laff when someone sees one of my photos and say "I gotta get a camera like that"..... the mother-in-law said it once..... We went to her house for a Sunday meal, after the meal was finished I said "that meal was lovely..... I gotta get me one of those gas stoves" it was lost on her. But I knew what I meant ;)
@RandomKiddStuff - My very thoughts. Not the easy way to shoot photojournalism. I wonder how much he shoots with this camera. I'd go with the Leica M9.
@RandomKiddStuff Yea, after many years of doing what he does, he has earned a great camera. However a camera does not make the photographer, its Life Experiences,The Eye, The Vision.
@sandy8h oops ! the first song is : The whisperer - Thomas Newman , the second song is from the movie Blood Diamond, don't know exactly the song of it.. the third song is seventh heaven - Dreamcatcher ( my favourite! ) and the last song is again from the movie Blood Diamond :)
This is beautifully put together. I love this. His photographs are so deep, mesmerizing, real, eye opening, breath taking, heart breaking, unbelievable, inspirational. He is one of the reasons why I want to work as a humanitarian in so many of these countries that he has photographed, because he shows the humanity and inhumanity of this world.
And may ask what song/music you used? I love it just as much.
Brought a tear to my eye. Steve is an inspiration.

@paintingwithlight See with your own eyes. Those are the only ones you will ever have.

@MistahWagwan Yes... This is obvious. My point was to those who say, "I want his camera..." or some similar comment.

@RandomKiddStuff So what ? hassleblads are overrated.
MistahWagwan 3 weeks ago
@MistahWagwan Yeah, I know. I was referring to the outrageousness of this fact. Hasselblads are freakin' pricy.
