  • Great playing and great sound but that is one ugly ass guitar.

  • the bassist looks like the dude from Road Warrior

  • Jodi Fisher! Never heard him playing with a band before.

  • They are white AND??????????

  • seems that the chords are taken from "there is no greater love"

  • beastly awesome

  • FUCK YEAH!

  • The tempo drops occasionally

  • this song is so freaking niceeeee! need to listen to more stuff like this!

  • this does not swing.

  • can anyone tell me what chord progression this song is based on?

  • Expert Village dropped my iq down 10 pts...ive regained them back since switching to free drum lessons.

  • Very good magnific (:

  • Nice, you use Rich's tecnique, and a tom combination like Krupa's one!

  • very impressive

  • I'm not usually a fan of Jazz, but i admit, i Love this piece! I play drums but this guy is awesome!

  • ME GUSTA!

  • I love how each instrument has a solo section...This is so inspiring

  • 1:54 reminds me of professor lupins classroom

  • very great dude

  • that guy drums like hell

  • Does it bother anyone else that he doesn't swing the eighth notes on the ride cymbal?

  • @lucasloud

He does, pretty slightly but its there.

  • @lucasloud it's common for swing to become straighter as it gets faster. at this speed he's swinging just fine.

  • great drums wow

  • 2:22 - 2:30 one of my favourite phrases in any piece anywhere

  • What's the name of the song? :)

  • how come musisions like you never make mitakes ? pleez tell me why

  • Jody Fischer on guitar! Yay!

  • such a clean ending

  • WHERE'S THE HEAD?!!

  • I like this and I,ve chosen this video as it,s "play along" to make some comments.

There is so much more to drumming than flams drags and paradiddles I,ve yet

to visit a tutorial that covers the aspect of backing soloists which mainly what

drumming is all about. We are not soloists in the main and so should concentrate

on enhancing the playing of the sax ,

trumpet or whatever. Believe me after 62 yrs.

of drumming the guys out front will thank you for it and you will be sort after.

    More later!

  • sick

  • Excellent guys. Swing it !

  • oh it's sam from burned notice

  • @lashon53 that is who he looksl ike.

  • Jared, are sheets for the drums on the site ? cant find it ..

  • So Jazz !!

  • Great job guys, that's a jam!

  • you can tell he's a great player. He's just having fun with the kit

  • omg guitar hero expert mode on

  • hey its jody fisher!

  • Yes! Fret-less Bass Guitar!

  • i think hes a good player just not a good teacher. awsome though.

  • @zzzzzushi Then you're obviously not a good student

  • Guys, I have a problem! The Mp3 minus drums is not complete! Check it out at their website. It stops after the 3rd trading or so. It doesn't play at outro at all. Does anyone know where I could get the corrected file?

  • Wow, all 4 of them are great musicians. Great clip.

I especially love Baba Elefante and his fantastic sound Fbass AC5. It is just the right tone for this song.

  • @NoPro32 your local drum shop should carry yamaha, if not guitar center, but if your like me you don't prefer corporate places to shop, also google five star drum shops to see if there is one near you, usually the best advice and the cheapest prices

  • Great feel by everyone. Good stuff...

  • sooo good....that high hat fill at 2:26 wasss aweesomemmee

  • Lovely!

  • Nice bass and guitar work too.

  • seems kind of unusual for someone playing traditional grip to have thier snare tilted down toward them like alot of match players do. I would think it would be harder to do rim shots that way, especially with the left hand.

  • lmao 1:55.

Sounded like something off 'Sing, Sing, Sing'.

  • shit this band and rythum section is hot. nice bass.

  • the intro sounds like Wes Montgomery's Impressions. Give it a listen.

  • swing you say?

  • wow the part where they traded fours really helped me out with a little concert i had to play today! thanks!

  • EXPERT VILLAGE PWNED

  • @Flaitesexy dumass village describes them better

  • I was a bit blue when I started watching. Not anymore.

    Thank god for music :)

  • Loved everything but the bass solo

  • nice session

  • That was awsome.

  • Man this studio sounds good considering they're all playing together live.

  • What are you using for the baseline.

  • this is awesome, but not really Jazz, more like Samba with Jazz feel.. although, I liiiike it a lot!

  • is that an electric banjo?

  • @allmetaliswelcome nop.. just a fancy guitar :p

  • Did he add in the base drum as well..?

  • your all talented.

  • come on... check out guys like George Kollias...

he plays waaaaaay faster than any jazz drummer, metal drummers win by miles.

  • @DKMoonwalker In terms of speed, yes. Jazz drummers have metal drummers beat time signature wise for sure.

And this a metal drummer speakin fyi.

  • @DKMoonwalker lol no way dude, only kollias' legs are faster, i would know being a big nile fan, but in terms of hand speed guys like buddy rich were much faster

  • @DKMoonwalker lol so faster means better ?

  • @ianidinuse 2 guys learn the same exact beat. 1 guy can play the beat 10 times in a minute, the other can play the beat 30 times in a minute, both playing the fastest they can. which drummer is better? obviously faster is better. if the ability to play something that sounds really good, but isnt hard, means you're the better musician, slash would probs be the worlds best guitarist.

  • @DKMoonwalker Jojo Mayer with one pedal is faster than any metal drummer

  • @AdamOuissellat umm i think u mean double bass drummers. Nicko McBrain from Iron Maiden is blazing fast and use 1 pedal because he feels thats how drumming started and thats how it should stay.

  • Comment removed

  • @goodnamepending watch?v=y9cjYcufbto&feature=related

  • @AdamOuissellat link isnt working and nicko is much faster than jojo, just look him up

  • @goodnamepending Ok sorry, type in 'Hands-foot rolls - Jojo Mayer lesson'. I checked out your guy but I couldn't find a video where he matches jojo.

  • hey nice job......and what ride is that im looking to get a new one for more lighter stuf like jazz.

  • wow this is good.

  • This is awesome

  • hey does anyone have any good jazz stuff for me to get started listening to?

  • you can start by listening to ArtBlakey...

  • dave brubeck for easy listening. get back to me if you need more fusion stuff

  • @HeadsAreRolling you can listen to the yellowjackets a great jazz fusion band. In the old stuff I can recomand you Miles Davis wich was a genius. So if you need more information send a request and I give you what you want.

  • right, i'm off to play some jazz beats

  • these guys rock. look at that fretless bass it sounds awesome. id jam with them

  • @MrDylanJG yeah boy!

  • These aren't jazz musicians are they....

  • i cant hear the bassdrum !! great stuff though !

  • probably using a light tap but otherwise hes not using it at all

  • @MrZol: In jazz you don't use the bass drum like you do in rock. in a rock beat you use the bass drum to keep time where as in jazz you use the hi-hat

  • this guy is certainly good, way better than me, but when trading fours I always tend to think the four bars of the "sing sing sing-esque" floor tom groove is overrated and pretty non musical in most situations

  • @THEspindoctor84 the whole point of trading is to LISTEN to the ideas given to you and then expanding on them. what's the point of trading, then, if you're just gonna play four bars of what's in your head. it's like someone's talking to you and you're just telling them something irrelevant.

  • I actually think that its fun to hear!, i like the soft quick drumming :P

  • many people think rock drumming is harder because rock drummers go over the top (cough cough neil peart) and have a million different drums but if you watch jazz drummers like buddy rich there's no-one else that can play that smooth or fast

  • @PJWTh3R41N so true, im a rock drummer, and theres nothing like a good jazz player. rock gets hard when it gets hard, but usually its not really that bad. jazz, another world. :)

  • @PJWTh3R41N

I agree I like a lot Jazz, I actually play tenor sax.

But I have to disagree in this one , various metal/ progressive rock drummers play that fast (not that smooth).

With this I'm not saying that I prefer Metal/Rock Drummers to Jazz ones. I love Buddy Rich , Gene Krupa , Max Roach and Lenny White.

I liked the video very nice performance.

Sorry if my english is incorrect.

  • @jumadi1990 Indeed!

  • What sizes and models are all the Sabian cymbals? I can only make out they are from the HHX line. Thanks.

  • poco swing,la figura del ride es like a samba.aprende antes de dar clases.feliz navidad.

  • Yes and if you are learning this is great to get your feel trying to copy Blakey will do your head in , like learning piano to Monk . these lessons are starters get the contex right.

how the hell is a starter drummer going to learn. Good video.

  • Maybe people should learn the way people have been learning for decades.

BY STUDYING GREAT MUSIC AND GREAT MUSICIANS.

Why would you study from someone you know sucks, when an Art Blakey record has all the wisdom you'll ever need.

If you can't handle studying good music then you should just not play music at all.

  • I disagree that an Art Blakey record has all the wisdom a musicina would however I am in concurrence with your first statement.

  • Haha, you're funny! Following your logic why the hell is there a need for drum instructors then?

MIKE MICHALKOW PROBABLY HAS MORE TALENT IN HIS PINKY THAN YOU DO PERIOD

Of course you listen to records to get ideas and learn from the greats, but only a pompous idiot would believe that you can completely learn a style of drums without any sort of instructor.

Plus how about you go and find a pro jazz track with the drums removed? Not so easy, this provides a great with something to jam to.

  • wow...

  • Blind leading the blind.

If you want to learn jazz dig on Mickey Roker or Art Blakey.

These lessons are cute and all, but he can't swing to save his life.

  • haha agreed

  • I think my favorite part of this site is the 'play along' section in the title~ if you can play along, I want to hire you!

  • WTF KEY IS THIS OMG I CANT FIGURE IT OUT

  • The song is in B flat.

  • It hought this was a drumless track? what the hell...

  • you can get the drumless track on the site

  • Jody Fisher!!!

  • what is the name of this song?

  • i want to play drums likethat lol

  • And that hi-hat work at 2:28 was fantastic too. All these guys are great instrumentalists.

  • I was smiling through this whole video, that was absolutely great. I've been a guitar player for quite a while and I'm just starting drums tomorrow, and this has given me a new inspiration for both the instruments. Jazz is so beautiful.

  • FUCK Mike Portnoy! Blake Richardson even owns him and he's half his age.

  • Fuckin' A.

  • nice melody..

  • haha.. nice!! i like it sooo much.. musician is a fun job.. u enjoy while working..

  • Gotta love all the kids running around saying Mike Portnoy is the best drumMa EvA when you have guys like this kicking his ass in almost every way possible. Same goes for Danny Carrey - seriously if you think Danny Carrey is better than this guy, you are either on drugs, have brain damage or just plain don't know drumming.

  • i agree XD idont think they know what they are saying XD :P

  • Haha Mike Portnoy ok lol.

  • Feel like I am in the lobby of a Holiday Inn

  • Elevator music.

  • it's jazz you retard

  • I'm ashamed you even said that.

  • alright. Let's hug it out. cool?

  • Elevator music is any music played in an elevator. I once played heavy metal in an elevator. Is it elevator music?

  • its just an expression

  • What are you replying to?

  • i was replying to what you were saying. calm down. its just an expression.

  • What was I saying? I don't remember.

  • well its in an elevator

    so i guess it counts

  • if that is swing then i'm elvis......and no i don't want another burger!!

  • Would you like a burger mister elvis?

  • lmao ...i have left the building

  • He sure keeps those solos swinging!

  • its a yamaha..dont know about the snare but im pretty sure that hes got coated ambassadores on the drums you can see..maybe an emperor on the snare

  • Pretty amazing. What kind of kit are you using? Does that snare come with the drums? And heads? That drumkit sounds pretty freaking amazing.

  • out of all them the bass player is the best

  • I guess they forgot to swing...

  • i think its cool, the interpretation

  • this is really cool. jazz amazes me

  • the beats at are awesome 1:55 .. great:)

  • what kind of guitar is that?

  • a Steinberger?

  • a bass...lolz

  • Very nice. Great to see Jody Fisher on guitar too!

    --Eric E.

  • Is there anyone other than me who LOVES snare buzz on their toms, like on this guy's high tom? I think it gives the drums more character, makes the whole set become one solid instrument.

  • i agree with that

  • these guys are great, bull sh*t free and ust having fun making music, wish me & my fellas were half as good.

  • way past cool mike

  • i lol it good mike

  • aweeeesome :)
