  • can you connect it to a new hornby controller

  • @intercity24 Is the pope catholic?? Lol.

  • if you want to operate two or more light signals, would you need another controler?

  • @theguy40267 No, if you follow the supplied instruction sheet that comes with the signal, it shows you how. Just plug the yellow on - on switch into the 1st switch. Only one comon return wire needed.

  • Is the signal sold seperatly from the controller ir does it come together?

  • Take it you've not looked on Hornby's website??

  • thanks man. life saver

  • @fdtyure Your welcome :-)

  • thank u you are a savage lad for help

  • @ciarang8235 Your welcome :-)

  • hi ay, im thinking of using the hornby SkaleLighting

( have ye seen it ) i think you prob have, what i want to know could i rig up a signal lights wires into a hornby 2 pin plug then plug it into the 12 way power strip to work, ?? i want to do the same with yard lights , street lights , etc etc, it looks straight forward and very easy, just want to know if you think it would work before a buy the gear, its what im going to use for inside railway cottages, signal boxes etc, thanks , hugh

  • @wattass7 The Hornby Signal light keep it separate from the interior lighting, wiring. But you can run both sets of wire back to the accesory connection AC outlet on the controller.Cheers.

  • Where do I get a brown wire? I didn't get one?

  • @VideoGr8Editing Is it missing?? Try your model shop, Hornby, or the like of Maplins etc.

  • @VideoGr8Editing same here

  • @jmsschooner Any model shop, or electronics type shop. Also try Hornby, or the various suppliers of Hornby spare parts.

  • It's actually the green wire that connects to the controller. I have taken the bottom off the signal and it reveals that the green powers the whole signal up. It's the red and black wire that needs to go to the controller.

  • @MrHeadsocket Actually it's the black wire NOT green!! As wired up per Hornby's instructions sheet & as used on mine & several freinds previous layouts, for many years. As seen on the side of the switch, two coloured dots for help & ease of wiring up: Green wire to green dot, Red wire to red dot. The two wires that connect to the controller are the black & brown (not red), brown wire being the common return. I've also had the under side removed.

  • you know the lights would be even better if they were automaticly activated by trains, although i dont know of anything that does that yet. anyway, i would like to ask you if it is posible to control lights/points with the ON-ON swich on a DCC setup, instead of buying so many of those accesory box things. If it is possible, where do you plug the brown wire to?

  • @scotplane I think on the Hornby Select & Elite DCC controllers, you can connect up the same as shown here (instead of using the accessory decoders). Look where it say's AUX power, on the right hand side on the back of both units. Not sure about other DCC systems, but i'm sure many will have a similar set up for the AUX Power outlet. The brown wire as shown here & per instructions supplied with the signal etc. Cheers.

  • quick question when you have 3 switches do you still need only one brown wire

  • @jaannetts16 Yes, only one brown wire needed, as the switches all connect together as you know. cheers.

  • @ay76 I don't have a brown wire. Where can I get one? Your video was great! Very informative!

  • @VideoGr8Editing Contact Hornby or east kent model spares, or your local model shop. Cheers.

  • @ay76 Thank you so much. I have got the signal working now and really love it! I also want to say I adore your videos for being so informative and clear. Thanks again,

    VideoGr8Editing

  • @VideoGr8Editing Thank you, glad it's been of some help. Kind regards.

  • nice but how do you wire it up the the dcc point decoder, i need to know

  • Just the same as the point motor, is wired up (as shown in part 15 on my DCC series) Cheers.

  • cool video , just what i need for my model railway .& video to the point not like others

    [ THATS GOOD ]

  • Thank you, cheers.

  • Good show but one thing plm is I'm deaf person and can't hear the speaker.......

  • Thank you, i'll have to do some annotations on this video. Cheers.

  • its been a while since i heard your voice

  • :-) Cheers.

  • memories here, thats the signal I used in that video ( which will remain nameless due to spam) and I had it as a kid.

Some fine memories here seeing the controller.

  • Sorry to hear about the spam. Glad this has brought back memories :-) Cheers.

  • My whole channel is under attack, its not fun spending the time doing spam control when I could be helping others along the way.

I see many Thomas tubers have been cleaned from the networks, this will affect you and me as this was our audience and network!

Lots of tubers would have had your stuff set as favorite video, well with the channel gone its good buy network.

There must be hundreds of channels gone so far.

  • This is bad news my freind.... what can be done to stop this rout of the Thomas Tubers??? & the spam your getting?? Looks like this year is getting off to a bad start.....

  • I would say the tube is doing the best it can to pull down the spam channels, still getting heaps on the popular videos.

And the Thomas tubers clean out continues, this will affect anyone who posts train videos.

  • I Got A Hornby Signal For Christmas Great Video Mate 5 Stars

    Video395

  • Cool, cheers.

  • I don't think I ever got far enough with my stuff to do signals...:)

  • The range of model signals now made is mind boggling, so many good makes out there now...... what to go for.....mmmmm!!

  • maybe model 1890s trains? no signals, just an old guy passing a 'ring' to the loco driver...not sure how that worked but do recall something like that..

  • Yes, the old token system. Still used on some railways. Cheers.

  • I think it evolved into bingo :)

  • Heh heh heh.... :-)

  • very nice the video

    i vote five stars

    jean noel

  • Thank you Jean, Cheers.

  • Well explained Iain

  • Thank you, hope to have a DCC video up tomorrow if all goes to plan. Cheers.

  • cool i might get one for my mainline when it is done

  • :-) Cool, cheers.

  • Can you do the same thing to wire up a point motor using this controller?

  • Good one, Mate! 5 Stars!

  • Thank you.

  • haha I have one of thoose myself! I like how they are quite heavy & made out of proper material bu they look like crap, traintronics are way better ;)

  • Good one Iain! Sadly, I won't be at Barrow Hill on May 2nd, but will be some other time this year... will keep you updated. Thankfully, I use Eckon's 4/3 aspect signals, harder to wire, but more detailed for about a 3rd of the price. Hornby's signals are way over priced. Pieces of plastic for around £20!!!!! RIP OFF!

  • Be nice If Hornby get round to doing a more update version. Th Eckon's are great, will more than likley be using them on my layout. No worries about Barrow hill.Kind regards.

  • He he! You get my point though.... I will email you when, I really want to meet you.

  • Okay, cheers :-)

  • sweet i want to get 1

  • Cheers.
