Gah!!!! watching all these videos of graduation and family day is just getting me more and more excited about leaving in a few weeks for Oklahoma. Can't wait!!!
@BrechoZord how could you take a family video so wholesome and get political about it? the vid's about their son graduating not your political thoughts!
I graduated from Ft. Sill in 2001 at 17. I enlisted in the Guard and got tired of trying to find a job, so I went active and I have loved it ever since. I went to jump school, Ranger school, HAHO and HALO school along with SERE school. Then to Afghanistan and Iraq. The military has been good to me, the pay is always there and the medical care is free. I love it!!!! Of course though, the contractors over there also deserve respect. Without their support, we would be overloaded.
2.5 years now for my son in the Reserves and they followed on all their promises with his contract. 2011 may be the year of his deployment. Thank you for your sevice and enjoy Ft. Sill. Great People there!!
my son is in "reception" there now with hopes to start basic by middle of next week so he can make his OCS date late March. Does everyone have a family member present for graduation? We were going to wait for OCS to go to grad.
Thank you! Graduation is something you will not want to miss. Especially Family Day the day before BCT Graduation. Ft. Sill was great. My son came home from AIT this August from FT.Eustis and was #2in his company. Thank you to your son for his service! At Ft. Sill I had a call from his at LEAST once a week. I was lucky! His platoon did well (honor platoon) and he stayed under the radar..didn't get into trouble! They earned many calls. Hope he has the same positive time there :)
My boyfriend is actually in reception as well he should ship out tues. and graduate late march, the closer it gets to graduation they will beable to send out a packet int he mail with all of the information, not all have family members attend .
Nice video. I graduated from Ft. Sill in Dec. 1979. My AIT training was in Columbia, SC. @ Ft.Jackson
That was the year american students were held hostage in Iran. I remember our marching cadence during pt was..."kill kohmeini!". We were all preparing to get our first orders to ship out after boot camp but it apparently never happened. Our men and women in uniform never get enough appreciation in this country. People should know, freedom is not for free!
thank you for your comment and Thank You for your service!! I didn't see your post until now. My son came home from AIT 2nd in his company. So Ft. Sill for BCT was a great experience.
No they dont and it really is something that should change. Even those who dont support our troops and talk badly about them need to realize that the men and women they think so badly of fight FOR people to be able to talk badly about them. Thats one reason i cant wait to serve my country.
wow i searched youtube forever looking for videos of when i graduated i graduated with moore he slept on the top bunk right above me anyone who graduated with G1/79 3rd platoon wants to keep in touch andrew miller phone number 515-368-4999 best of luck everyone
I will text messsage Pat and let him know your #...He is down at AIT right now but I can't disclose on You Tube where he is...Army Reg Policy..you know the drill :) LOL.
He was ordered to leave right on graduation day from HS...and has been gone since... Comes home in 3 more weeks though. I also made another film that I will try to upload...so look for that soon on my channel...good luck to you!!
hahah i was there right after you guys, i was A 1/355, we saw you guys leaving as we were going in. Man, that was almost a year ago...haha hate to say it but i think i miss fort sill a little bit
It's good for me as a mother to hear that you miss basic training. Maybe I won't worry so much about my son that's there right now. Did you guys get to call home during basic? Did they take up cell phones?
they do get to call on weekends they have 10-15 mins and they can lose those privalges if someone acts up they punish everyone and they all lose phone privialages. they take the ceel phones but thats usually what they call from. they write as often as they can its up to them how they spend their free time. :) i hope this helped. my boyfriend is at basic right now i miss him terribly.
oh, im sorry he graduated a few days later. im just asking because i dont get to talk to him much and i just wanted to ask around to see who knew him and things, btw he is my unlce.

I don't know, I made this movie for my son.
Most of all your questions can be easily addressed on the Army website or with your area recruiting office.

Ft. Sill BCT is male only but the others are.
