  • @RoyZimmerman "Prior to government intervention, [...] no one was turned away [from medical care], regardless of means." --words from a Ron Paul supporter, during a Facebook discussion. He also threw in the notion that charity always caught anyone who fell through the private sector cracks. Maybe I should send him some Upton Sinclair as a Valentine's Day present.

  • Will you be playing at the Democratic Convention in Charlotte, NC in 2012? I think you should. Then you can pick up a gig in Asheville, which is only about 2 hrs from there! I think you'd be a bit hit at the convention. Who do we speak to about that? Bob & I enjoyed you in Spartanburg in Oct & listen to your latest CD often!!!

  • Come to Boise.

  • Roy Zimmeran and Michael Moore 2012!!!!

  • Come to Canada, Roy!

  • LMK when ur in kansas and if possible please come to wichita i would really like to meet you in person

  • For some reason I feel the need to vote republican..

  • I LOVE THAT SONG! You had me at the first "you're getting sleepy!"

  • Very funny as usual. I like the new lyrics to the Republican song!

  • It's not about R or D. People voted for Obama thinking he'd end the wars and he ramped them up! More for the bankers! It's about elected officials who represent us and not powerful lobbyists of the military industrial complex, Big Pharma, and Wall Street Banksters. End The Fed, return to a commodity backed currency the government can't inflate and destroy and....

Never mind. It's too late. Just remember all of that stuff so we can put things back together after the SHTF next Tuesday.

  • @Liberty4Ever Because an NAR theocracy that bleeds us dry to fatten the wallets of billionaires would be SOOOO much better... 9_9

  • @Ongarukat I think you missed my point. You seem caught in the myth that Republican politicians represent rich people and Democratic politicians represent the common working person. Both parties are corrupt. If the arrogant Obama administration's support of the military industrial complex and the corrupt Wall Street banksters doesn't open your eyes to this point, I don't think there's anything I can say to change your opinion.

  • @Liberty4Ever Cool story man, but what is your solution?

  • @ismdism Start by ending The Fed (the Federal Reserve). It's a private corporation granted the power to create money. That's crazy!

Shrink the federal government... a lot! The bigger the government, the more power and money it has, and the more it will be corrupted by those who want to benefit from that power and money.

End the wars - all of them. War is a racket. All US troops come home. Stop trying to police the world. It's making us broke and it's causing anti-American terrorism.

  • @Liberty4Ever Oh goody, a Saint Ron (Paul) worshiper..His policies are vague..except 'End the wars!' 'End the fed!' 'End big gubmint!' Other than that, he has no solutions to anything whatsoever..except that anyone who doesn't slave away to the royalists is free to starve.

  • @Homer177 Ha ha! I made you say "Ron Paul"! :-)

Ending the wars, ending the Fed, and ending big gubmint would solve at least 90% of our problems. Do you think Obama, Romney, Perry, or any of the other mainstream empty suits have a plan that would do ANYTHING to fix the problems? They cause the problems.

  • @Liberty4Ever Of course they do. That's why I voted for Nader in '08 instead of Paul. Paul is just the same as the others you listed. The only difference is he is able to garner support from every group because of the way he oversimplifies shit and just tells people what they want to hear, while dodging real domestic issues.

As far as his whole lecture goes on personal responsibility, he can kiss my ass. I'd like to see him say that to someone with a disability who is unable to work most jobs.

  • @Homer177 There will always be givers and takers in society. The question is, do we need federal government in between to add a layer of corrupt, self serving, inefficient bureaucracy? I'd prefer that the transaction be more local. It's a lot more efficient if we cut out the middle man, and it's better for both parties. Charitable acts build a community. Forced government wealth redistribution builds resentment... on both sides.

  • @Liberty4Ever You say shrink the federal government a lot. What would you cut from federal government?

  • @ismdism Instead of asking what I'd cut from the federal government, it'd be easier to list what I'd keep. Defense (true national defense, not an agency of overseas empire). Federal courts. Probably the Post Office.

The IRS would go! The Nazis at the Department of Homeland Security would need to get real jobs. The Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms cost over $1B a year and they're arming Mexican drug cartels. Etc.

  • @Liberty4Ever So no more national parks, pell grants, veterans care, or nsf etc? Another thing is where are all these people going to work?

  • @ismdism We can have national parks. They're increasingly funded by user fees. They should be completely funded that way, so the people who enjoy them pay for them, and nobody is forced to subsidize some government program they don't use. Cut back on government and return taxes to people and companies and private educational grants return, and that free market approach would improve education, instead of anti-market government grants that price education higher than most people can afford.

  • @ismdism We're starting with an economy that's propped up by the federal government's maxed out credit card. I say that we can't afford to have the federal government tax us so much that we can't compete in an international market, and then borrow even more money from China, so the federal government can produce jobs that are much less productive than private sector jobs. Then you say that the lost federal jobs will worsen unemployment. Maybe the answer is to make all jobs government jobs???

  • @Liberty4Ever I do say that cutting all those federal jobs would make unemployment worse. I don't see how it would make it better. I don't see why the next logical step for you would be all fed jobs. As far as taxes go the corporations in the united states pay some of the lowest amount of taxes in the world. I'm curious though how do you think that cutting all those jobs will affect the economy?

  • @ismdism You're still missing my point about big government. The problem is caused by big government lowering productivity and distorting the free market. Yes, the problem is bad, and perversely, it'll get worse in the short run when we shrink government and return to a market driven economy. If government jobs are the solution, why not communism, where all jobs are government jobs? Zero unemployment! Throughout history, that's consistently proven to be the road to poverty and suffering.

  • @Liberty4Ever You seem to be a person of extremes. There is a middle ground between communism and a minimalist government. One of the big problems right now is high unemployment, and I don't think cutting millions of jobs is going to help that. I agree some things need to be cut or reorganized, but to cut almost everything is a bad idea. Its kind of like communism where its great in theory, but in practice it won't work. How would it prevent the natural boom bust cycle of capitalism?

  • @ismdism Don't like extremes? The question is, how much big federal government do you want? I think we have way too much. You argue that cutting government jobs increases unemployment. Short term that's true. You need to start thinking of government taking from the economy. Long term, every government job probably costs 3-4 private sector jobs lost to over taxation. The money is much better utilized in the private sector, where real productive jobs are created.

  • @ismdism The boom-bust cycles are small and self correcting in free markets. Governments & central banks make HUGE boom-bust cycles, as we're seeing now. I'm sick of people pointing to the failures of corporatism and the corrupt corporations that don't compete in the free market and instead get corporate welfare from politicians, and say, "See, capitalism doesn't work." Real capitalism works very well. Not perfect, but by far the best system for providing for everyone. Not crony capitalism.

  • I heard the first chorus and nearly cheered, but I don't think explaining to the librarian why I was cheering at a random song would fly over well...:p

  • Hahaaa! Can I vote early? I need to because I suddenly feel sleepy.....

I shall await your campaign trail's return to this sandbar called Florida, and this time I *won't* remember that you're here 10 minutes after the show ended.

  • I hope when you come to PA you hit the Philly area.....I had to miss you last time when you played in Lansdowne.............heinous!

  • And New Mexico... is a state, it turns out.

    I lol'd

  • I am SO excited that I get to see you in Traverse City, MI next month! Our humanist club is volunteering to help the gallery owner. I can't wait!!

  • I'd forgotten about this "You're getting sleepy" theme - it's terrific! Nice job, Roy.

  • What about the District of Columbia?

  • OHIO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Barack Obama didn't have the largest budget deficits of all time...You're getting sleepy.

George Bush got the Patriot Act passed because he cares about your security...You're getting sleepy.

Bill Clinton did not have sex with that woman, Ms. Lewinsky...You're getting sleepy

You read the other George Bush's lips and there were no tax increases...You're getting sleepy

  • Corporations are people, my friend. You're getting sleepy.

Michele Bachmann's never gotten a penny from her federally subsidized farm. You're getting sleepy.

Paul Revere warned the British that they weren't gonna be takin' away our arms. Now when I count to three . . .

Keep socialized medicine out of my Medicaid. You're getting sleepy.

Yay Roy! Always a treat to see a new video. Looking forward to your next show in So Cal!

  • Hey Roy, when you get to Hawaii, you can crash at my house !

    PDsalling

  • :-)

  • "...especially on poor, sick, working children, who are veterans." lol

  • Can't wait to see you in Louisiana!

  • Most his stuff is pretty funny, shame he feeds into the left vs right nonsense.

  • @Berelore what's really a shame, without saying which side I'm on, is that the two sides have become so polarized that moderate isn't a narrow area of fence anymore it's a whole Wall of China!

  • @starshine428

Yea but it's been my observation that most us common folk aren't actually polarized on the issues. Instead it seems almost like there is a false war between ultra-liberal and ultra-neocon propagated though the media when most average people agree with both sides on certain issues. Or I suppose it could be that have found a small patch of rational people to associate myself with in an irrational world and my view is skewed.

  • @Berelore Nah, there are some extremists on both sides but mostly I think the common folk really are more or less in the middle just trying to get buy and hoping someone will do SOMEthing to help!

  • that was awesome!

  • Yay Hiiii Roy!

  • I've been getting sleepy waiting for the next Roy Zimmerman tune/rant. I nearly voted republican (h no!).

  • I can't wait to hear you in Idaho!

  • Come to Texas again! We can't see Russia, but we can see Mexico. And we've got to overcome the stigma of sending Rickochet Perry into the Teapublican primaries.

  • When are you coming to Las Vegas?

Ketchikan looks gorgeous by the way. Could you see Russia from your cabin? LOL.

I agree with your stand on cruises. It's hard to relax with all of those nice young phillipinos and indonesians waiting on you hand and foot. As a working person, that makes me slightly uncomfortable too. On my cruise, I spoke with some of them . They make them sign up for 6 months tours of duty like they were in the military. And they pay them next to nothing.

  • Come to Charleston!!!!!!

  • In 2012, vote Dance Party; BionicDance for President! :)

  • I'd vote Roy for President. He'd turn every state of the union into a concert, then it'd be fun to watch.

  • When are you coming to Toronto?

  • Hey, I live in New Mexico, come see me!

  • I am psyched

  • Amen

  • Still set for Hawai`i in December? I didnʻt see us on your list in your newsletter thatʻs why. If thereʻs any way I can help make this happen please let me know. And, btw, Ketchikan was my favorite stop on our Alaska cruise =S

  • See you in Wilmington in October. I'll buy you a beverage. Enjoy your cruise! I did.

  • I saw Russia at the end!

  • @ScrewFoxNews wh....OH,YOU!

  • @ScrewFoxNews Well, then, you know a lot about Russia and foreign policy, right? Isn't that how it works?

  • @issyvoo2 yep, he can see russia from his backyard

  • You probably need to update that song, the Democrats haven't been making the brightest choices lately.

  • I'd like to remind Roy that there are lots of Democrats Abroad in the UK...

  • @DLandonCole

I thought you were a Socialist Landon? I mean, a Labour Party member? Surely the Democrats would never have anything to do with Socialism! :D

I second the vote for an international tour.

  • The democrats aren't much better to be honest. The way the president is compromising away all his principles.

  • @soundslave Maybe it is as Jello Biafra once put it?

"The Democrats are on the inside what the Republicans are on the outside."

    :D :D

  • @soundslave He is not compromising., He is surrending.

  • @captcrais101 Surrendering, rolling over, waving a white flag, lubing up his ring for another pounding. Take your pick, hehe.

  • Just remember that i was first Roy ;-)
