2.There are groups of medical practicioners in all countries, including ours ,working to ban GMO crops. 3. and that GM foods pose a serious health risk in the areas of toxicology, allergy and immune function, reproductive health, and metabolic, physiologic and genetic health. The report is a devastating blow to the multibillion dollar international agribusiness industry, most especially to Monsanto Corporation, the worlds leading purveyor of GMO seeds and related herbicides.
4The American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM) has just issued a call for an immediate moratorium on Genetically Manipulated (GMO) Foods. In a just-released position paper on GMO foods, the AAEM states that GM foods pose a serious health risk and calls for a moratorium on GMO foods. Citing several animal studies, the AAEM concludes there is more than a casual association between GMO foods and adverse health effects
Please read 2, 3, 4 and the one under that. If you need more proof and documentation, i can provide you with long lists of references, including ones from medical journals. Please partsfan753, so not waste our time with your childish attempts to violate the truth.
Want to see someone age more quickly than they should? Feed them GMO food which is in almost all prepared foods, and some fresh foods in your supermarket..
Read Bruce Lipton's Biology of Belief, on pg 14 where he states that the manipulated DNA of the GMO food will alter the DNA of your own bowel flora.
I.E. a GMO plant that produces it's own insecticide will change your own body's bowel flora to produce insecticide, that is slowly released into your body on a constant basis.
So not only are you ingesting more insecticides into your body from the GMO crops that are manipulated to withstand greater amounts of insecticides to kill the weeds, but some of the crops are actually causing your own body to then poison itself from the inside.
Don't get me wrong, I completely agree with Bittman, it's just frustrating to see this same cycle repeat itself. The rest of the world does things a certain way. The US pushes its "modern" ways all over the globe to make/save money... then it turns out that they are ultimately counterproductive... So, then they (the US) "rediscoveres the wheel" and then tries to sell this all over the globe. When it turns out that the rest of the world was doing it right from the beginning. -So UScentric.
Ah, but McDonalds are loved everywhere, by humans of all nationalities! The new generation (kids/teens) in those countries is buying it and headed in that same direction! Kids are getting fat! Cycles happen b/c we forget, b/c we are easily persuaded by propaganda, regardless of where we are from. It's a human nature thing. Time to recoil the blaming finger and seek to work together towards good common goals.
thats what capitalism produces in the end I suppose, if the government does not lay down some rules to regulate and oversee these industries or segments of the economy.

The removal was in response to negative public perception resulting from the high-fructose corn syrup ad campaign. Apparently it has become a liability to defend the sweetener.

I've heard good things about that film, thrivesurvive. No, the film and book have no relation to each other. I believe you can see a trailer on their website, foodmatters[dot]tv
I recently met a woman who changed her whole way of eating from some meat to total raw. She says she feels so much better than before. Personally, I am eating less and less meat. Especially after hearing and thinking about what Bittman says.
Thank you for your response. :) I am so glad you are feeling better. After reading the China Study, I found no reason to continue my consumption of animal products. I feel much better now. I am very thankful for your channel and the information you are sharing. Every person is unique and beautiful and we all strive to find a diet that meets our unique needs. Information like your videos help bring people closer to meeting that goal.
Some of the best raw food is very succulent and savory. I was amazing how much you can do with raw food. And the flavors! Anyone can make a salad, but raw food doesn't stop at salads. Good stuff. :)
But I still love a good cooked Thai curry now and then. There are raw versions, but the real thing always calls me back.
I had my first ever all raw meal just 2 days ago at my friend's house, who I just mentioned in above comment. We had a salad, a pasta dish (raw veggies cut into noodle shapes), fruit salad, and a raw cacao pudding (avocado-based). It was all *so* delicious! I had no idea. The flavors and textures were varied and I was totally blown away by the tastes. I can see incorporating more raw foods into my diet, and less meat, like Bittman says.
That's awesome! That cacao pudding sounds really good. It''s amazing how you can't taste the avocado at all. To be 100% honest, I have never experienced so much joy from food as I do now. The flavors are so vibrant and real. Once in a while I crave some of the dull, savory foods of my past, like baked yams and curry, but I think those are cravings caused by emotions because they are comfort foods for me. I'm so glad you had a positive first raw food experience. :)
well your right if made the right way any food can be made delicious, and raw veggies are a lot healthier than cooked ones. But meat, dairy, and eggs are part of a well balanced diet as well. Not trying to insult your life style just saying its healthier to eat all food groups.
I think those foods work well for some people, but not for me. The main thing is to be well-informed and to do what works best for you. After reading the China Study (among others), I chose to exclude all animal products from my diet. I am not lacking in any nutrient and I am very satisfied. Hopefully you opt for raw, organic dairy to reduce the levels of harmful ingredients found in conventionally grown. I wish you the best.
Well thank you, but all those foods people mention that are bad for you I eat and I'm healthy. Lots of other people I know are to. Then again we exercise but yeah. Just remember the human body has adapted to these things and we can tolerate them a lot better than what most articles mention.
I have heard of a very extreme case of healing. I don't remember who or where, but somewhere in the USA in the last 50 years, a doctor of natural medicine tried to heal arthritis, diabetes, and several undiagnosed diseases with large quantities of whole raw milk. After 6 weeks of only raw milk diet, many ailments were cured or much better. I really think that raw m,ilk is much better than processed. I am glad to have my own milk cow to serve the purpose! :)
I completely agree. Regular cow milk is filled with hormones, antibiotics, toxins, puss, blood, etc. Plus, the cows are generally treated VERY badly, and the babies that should be drinking the milk are chained up in crates for veal. In contrast, having your own organic, free range cow that is raised with love and not pumped full of garbage produces superior milk (especially when unpasteurized).I don't consume animal products on principle, but for those who do, yours is the best way to do it. :)
Thank you very much. The way I look at it, every person is responsible for what they eat, and nothing I can say will convince someone that my diet is right for them. I only present it as an option because it has worked so well for me, I would feel selfish by not sharing with others. Whether they accept of reject it, I know I have done my part, and I know what works for e is not perfect for everyone. I don't see the point of arguing with people about food. It's a very personal issue.
That is not true. Some foods need to be cooked. See Dr. Fuhrman's videos on youtube. The body absorbs more efficiently if one of the 4 food categories is cooked. Soups from organic vegetables are particularly nutritious. I am a raw food proponent BTW, especially juicing greens.
@thrivesurvive The problem with the raw movement is that most of it, from what I've read, is based on this same kind of thing: anecdotal evidence about feeling better. I haven't seen any convincing research showing any kind of benefit the way the raw food proponents purport to get. Most of the research that raw foodists point to is research done on vegetarian diets, which HAVE been shown to have substantial benefits. (Disclaimer: I went vegetarian for ethical reasons a while back.)
@dan46and2 My take on it is, what do you have to lose by trying raw food? Nothing. Why sit around and wait for science to prove anything when you can try it and see for yourself? Eating raw is logical and intuitive. I don't know why anyone would discount anecdotal evidence. It's not like anyone is lining up to fund raw food research. In fact, why would anyone research what is self-evident? There is a ton of science and proof though. You just have to take the time to read it.
@thrivesurvive Anecdotal evidence isn't usable in place of facts. There's nothing "self-evident" about raw food being good for you, it may make sense to you, but UFO's might make sense to you as well. I'm not inclined to try going raw entirely, so without outside evidence that it's actually beneficial, I probably won't. Some foods, HAVE been proven to lose some/most their nutrition from being cooked, and I'll always try to work more raw greens in, but as for going all raw? Unlikely, for me.
Anecdotal evidence? Man, you're fucking stupid. Learn a thing or two. Plus, she was not trying to convince you to go raw anyway so who gives a shit if you personally won't go raw.
@thrivesurvive not all raw produce is best for you... carrots for example are easier to digest when steamed or boiled. They're also other produce like carrots that mixed w/ lipids (fats) make it easier to digest as well. Basically what im saying is eating foods that are lightly cooked isnt a bad thing!
food is sold for profit not for health. makes sense !!

Don't get me wrong, I like Bittman and have a couple of his books. BUT, he's really sounding like a Michael Pollan wannabe. He even has the hair!

Why don't you put your face up on the internet so the world can criticize all of YOUR flaws!

The best way to cook is NOT to cook. Raw food is the easiest, most healthy way to eat. Anyone can eat an apple or make a salad.
After watching the film, "Food Matters", my husband went 51% raw. The more raw food we eat, the better we look and feel.
Is the book related to the film? It's a great film.
thrivesurvive 3 years ago 12

Yes but you miss out on good succulent, savory tastes.

I can see incorporating more raw foods into my diet, and less meat, like Bittman says.
cookingupastory 3 years ago

Not trying to insult your life style just saying its healthier to eat all food groups.
ziberteck 3 years ago

Georgia4God 3 years ago
I completely agree. Regular cow milk is filled with hormones, antibiotics, toxins, puss, blood, etc. Plus, the cows are generally treated VERY badly, and the babies that should be drinking the milk are chained up in crates for veal. In contrast, having your own organic, free range cow that is raised with love and not pumped full of garbage produces superior milk (especially when unpasteurized).I don't consume animal products on principle, but for those who do, yours is the best way to do it. :)

Finally, someone with different diet habits who actually can be civil. Thanks so much! That, of itself, helps me respect you more.

@thrivesurvive
Macedon51 11 months ago
@thrivesurvive The problem with the raw movement is that most of it, from what I've read, is based on this same kind of thing: anecdotal evidence about feeling better. I haven't seen any convincing research showing any kind of benefit the way the raw food proponents purport to get. Most of the research that raw foodists point to is research done on vegetarian diets, which HAVE been shown to have substantial benefits. (Disclaimer: I went vegetarian for ethical reasons a while back.)
dan46and2 11 months ago
@dan46and2 My take on it is, what do you have to lose by trying raw food? Nothing. Why sit around and wait for science to prove anything when you can try it and see for yourself? Eating raw is logical and intuitive. I don't know why anyone would discount anecdotal evidence. It's not like anyone is lining up to fund raw food research. In fact, why would anyone research what is self-evident? There is a ton of science and proof though. You just have to take the time to read it.
thrivesurvive 11 months ago
@thrivesurvive Anecdotal evidence isn't usable in place of facts. There's nothing "self-evident" about raw food being good for you, it may make sense to you, but UFO's might make sense to you as well. I'm not inclined to try going raw entirely, so without outside evidence that it's actually beneficial, I probably won't. Some foods, HAVE been proven to lose some/most their nutrition from being cooked, and I'll always try to work more raw greens in, but as for going all raw? Unlikely, for me.

@dan46and2
Anecdotal evidence? Man, you're fucking stupid. Learn a thing or two. Plus, she was not trying to convince you to go raw anyway so who gives a shit if you personally won't go raw.

@thrivesurvive I wish more people would realize this, It seems like, people who are even dying won't change their diet. WOW! Keep spreading the love!
