  • Im good. But I have to live a life of fustration and despair cause I am not intelligent. I am stupid. I know nothing.

  • what up with the slide show. Wheres the movie? What a gip!

  • Hitler banned the book and the original film. Truth is the enemy of democracy

  • The historical accuracy of the movie is pretty amazing..

Leading up to the 3 minute mark, German soldiers wore a Pickelhaube (pointed-helmey), after that they transitioned to the Stahlhelm (steel helmet). This is what occured during WW1 after they realized that wearing a leather cap with a point on it (Pickelhaube) offered virtually no protection and even made them more visible targets in their trenches.

  • i love this it's so moving :) ..iam making a story about world war 1 ..with teddy bears ..and ones called bob and his a medic... it's his story of how the war was in his eyes... this story is aimed at children so they can also learn about the greatest wars in history. hence why i made the soldiers into teddy bears so they would remeber the names ...what do you guys think of this idea? should i make the story?

  • Oops! I meant Lewis Ayers. Murphy, a highly decorated WWII veteran, was in another great anti-war book, Red Badge of Courage.

  • One of the greatest anti-war books ever written, and done so in a subtle way that pokes a giant hole through all the lies we are told by those in power as to why we the war must be fought. Please read the book. It's exceptional, and the version of the film with Audie Murphy playing the lead is quite good too.

  • llaaaag

  • Hey, that's John Boy Walton :-)))))))

  • I also first saw this film in history class at school. My classmates were initially dismissive finding it hard to accept 'John-Boy' as the hero Paul Baumer. However, by the end and especially in this devastating final scene there were many in tears. This is surely Richard Thomas's greatest performance on film.

  • Paul Baumer was real he is not a fictional hero. the storyline of the book and movie are exaggerated because it needs to be reader grabbing so people will read it and for people to watch it.

  • Did you know Paul Baumer realy whas a real person? Only the real Paul Baumer whas a Lt of a flycorps.

  • Just finished reading the book, am stunned by it. Hope the film lives up to it, going to watch soon.

  • Paul Baumer 1895 - 1918?

  • HHHmmm yes thank you for the non-conclusive argument, f@ck you very much ^_^▐▐▐

  • WW2 is easier to learn about, but the think WW1 is the more interesting of the two. Mainly because in the great war there was no good or evil.

  • That wasn't a WW1 German Gew98 that he was shooting. Authenticity adviser gets a demerit.

  • Loved the book loved the movie :D

  • Have just bought the new Blu-ray version of 'All Quiet'. Excellent! Fantastic definition especially in the battle scenes. Best of all, the half hour of arbitary cuts that so ruined the original VHS & DVD have been restored. As Paul Baumer, Richard Thomas is patently outstanding and indeed looks just 'gowjuss', big face mole (why so prominent in this film?) not withstanding! A must buy dvd (Blue-ray) for all those who love this film and especially admirers of Richard Thomas.

  • wait are they nazis

  • @mrsomeone96 lol your stupid. this is a movie on WW1....Hitler was just a lieutenant or something in this war... then when he became the chairman of the Nazi party and invaded Berlin.. then WW2 started...

  • you guys should see the 1930's version of this.

  • @daboodeef179 Great film agreed but see this version in full on the new Blu-ray release. It's superb not least because of Richard Thomas's outstanding performance.

  • @Gymroids Yeah, I think he should have won an oscar or gotn a nimination atleast

  • these days no time to think people are retarded with phd's but never apply any of the 10,000 things they learned! proof is current economy which depends on communists of china! & europe fascists!, what they should do is spend time on restoring movies to maximum potency instead of making sh^t remakes like they did to ghost in the shell & nightmare on elm street!, the 2010's will be remembered as the decade of copy cats & remakes!!!▐▐▐

  • @Czaendermajer First you try to call other people retarded, and then you call us Europeans ''fascists''? Thanks. That's a really low blow. If you knew the real meaning of the word ''fascism'', you wouldn't call us fascists. Mostly because the United States comes closer to Fascism with it's imperialistic ideals, than whatever European state you may think of.

  • @reaverwes i dare you to shoot a gun at the air in public in europe land see wat they do to you! the freedom to watch tv & work like slave is invalid! & yes europe either fascist or monarchical like it always is! no need to explain! maybe i should say europe are bad fascists & that europe fascism is a piece of shit! any country controled by corporations is fascist & europe is fascist! either be good fascist or bad fascist wanna waste your soul debating "opinions" MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM?▐▐▐

  • @Czaendermajer Apparantly you're just a stupid troll. An American calling Europe ''A country ruled by corporations and fascists''. That's utter stupidity and hypocrisy, and you know it. Countries in the European Union are all very democratic, libertarian and they take far better care of their citizens than the U.S. does. Our healthcare system is vastly superior and so is our educational system.

  • @daboodeef179 i liked this one more

  • he is gowjuss xx

  • A whole civilization disappeared, in the fields of Europe. If there was anything worse than death, that is the lack of human experiences, of culture and points of view buried in the mud together with their lifes.

  • I stand corrected! Specifically he was 'fictional' as the hero and protagonist of a great work of fiction.

  • @Gymroids The Author himself was in the war Erisch Maria Remarque

  • Paul Baumer was not fictional he flew for jasta 2 in a fokker dr1and albatros d5a and survived the war ,May 11, 1896 July 15, 1927. he reached the rank of Leutnant and was awarded the iron Cros 1st and 2nd class and the Blue max Orden Pour Le Merite for his 18 kills. Danke

  • Congratulations, a really imaginative and very moving photo montage, especially effective linked to that terrific music. (What is it?) Richard Thomas looks great as Paul Baumer.

  • Thanks Jason. So glad you approve. It was very much a labour of love.

The music I used was 'Lacrymosa from 'Sinfonia da Requiem' by Benjamin Britten.
