  • Thanks for this, very informative!

  • your baby sleeps through anything. Lucky! =-)

  • @vgfigue haha! Those were the days! She cries through every diaper change now; she just hates being on the changing table and would definitely not be such a good model now. :)

  • Do you have any problem with your handmade laundry detergent and your he washer? I've been thinking of making my own but wasn't sure if it is suitable for an he washer and didn't want to just risk it without knowing for sure.

  • @amechelb Nope, I use it all the time for Alice's clothes & linens because it's gentle but effective. No issues with the washer. I don't use the homemade stuff for my diapers, though. Because we have super hard water, I'm afraid it wouldn't be powerful enough for the diapers, though I haven't tried it so that's just a guess. :)

  • I wish my baby would sleep through his diaper changes! They always wake him up...

  • She's adorable! Love those little noises she makes when she breathes; so cute! I hope to CD when I finally get pregnant!

  • Seems very overwhelming...

  • @JoeysBaby31 Thank you so much! She is a joy! :)

  • I love your tidy set up. Simple, old school...I love it. I love how everything is in its place, out of the way, yet easily accessible. You've really gotten back to the basics with CDing- how inspiring. Too many CD moms get caught up in spending all this money, just for FUN, on all the cute prints/modern diapering systems, half of which don't even work. I think babies look cuter in their old school prefolds & flats than in all the crazy prints and high-end style diapers. lol

  • @tygersflowerz Missed your comment before, but thanks for the validation!! I agree about some moms just going hog wild and spending a ton on stuff that leaks! :)

  • @katulka2 You're welcome! Some say they're addicted and the prints are just too cute to pass up... I think it's cuter to save money! lol Who sees the child running around in the diapers other than the parents and a handful of visitors anyway? Even at daycare I think they generally keep the kids in their clothes. I used to work in one, I don't remember us letting the children run around without pants on. :-)

  • Does the Bac Out really get the stains out of her cloth diapers? I did just get some rockin green soap and I ordered Brooklyns cloth diapers. I still need to get a diaper sprayer. Do you rinse her diapers off before you put them in the wet bag?

  • Great video! I was so scared to start cloth diapering but it is easier than I ever could have imagined!

Do you mind sharing your detergent recipe? I'm almost out and need to make a new batch and would love to try something different...especially if I can wash Gabe's clothes in it as well!

  • @katulka Thank you!! I appreciate your reply and advice. :)

  • LOVED the kissaluvs fitted that you showed in the video, that's what we used on Ava as a newborn :) We opted for those vs. prefolds, because hubby was afraid of prefolds, but liked the snaps option of those. Great set up :) And adorable sleeping angel :)

  • @suezq4369 I agree - the KL0s are so fleecy and cute! Thanks!

  • great view thanks for sharing and I too love that you showed a before and after with clothes and what a diaper looks like

  • @pinkdahlia4 You're welcome. That was something I always wanted to know. :)

  • I'm loving cloth so far too :) Great job on the video!

  • @NaturallyThriftyMom Thanks! Cloth is so easy, it's too bad some people are intimidated by it! :)

  • great video!

  • I've just purchased a portion of my "stash". I've got 15 Sweetdollbaby/Nubunz brand pocket diapers. They are "one size adjustable". I have a friend who uses this kind, and tells me that they won't work well until the baby is 3 months old. So, I'm debating on getting small sized pocket diapers. Since you've got the new little one (she's adorable!!!) do you think the pocket diapers work better, or should I be checking into some prefolds as well?

  • @WaitingNWishing For Alice, we have some small size Fuzzibunz and they don't fit well yet, so I'd say it's a good idea to have some newborn prefolds just in case. That way you'd be set if the baby is very small when born. Prefolds will be cheaper than pockets too, if you only plan to use them for a short time. :)

  • Thanks for the update! I really enjoy watching, and thanks for sharing your story. How do/will you make your own wipe solution?

  • @thecdnwolfeden Thanks for watching! I will definitely do a video on wipes solution when we start using it and figure out what works best for Alice. Stay tuned. :)

  • Alice is just the most adorable model ever!!!

  • @Angllbabie Thanks, Angelina! She does it mainly for the scholarship opportunities, haha.

  • Do you use a liner to catch the solids?? Or just the prefolds on their own?? Thanks

  • @Chez2k3 We just use the prefolds on their own b/c with exclusively breastfeeding the "solids" aren't very solid. :) I do sometimes use simple fleece liners I made with the kissaluvs and the pocket diaper to help prevent stains. Stains come out of prefolds easily, but don't come out as well from the thicker fabric in my experience.

  • Thank you for this super helpful video! I am considering cloth diapering our future baby and seeing this video really makes it much less intimidating. And I have to add what a sweet and adorable model Alice is! :)

  • @FreeUpYourMind I'm glad you liked it! I agree - the lingo and all the different options can be overwhelming, but it is possible to keep it simple. :)

  • Thanks for adding the detail about how long it took Mike and your sister to pick-up working with the prefolds (3tries) that information, in combination with all the other information you've posted about cloth diapering, have made it more accessible to me. Thanks!

  • @Angelalalynn The learning curve was something I always wondered about, so I'm glad it's useful info to you too! :)

  • Wonderful video, 'liked' so I can come back to it in the future :) Thanks for posting, Kaity!

  • she is super cute! i would love to donate two handmade AIO newborn diapers to you guys I know how frustrating it is when all of your cute pockets are too big!! if you would be wiling to do a review video for me that would be great i am trying to get my name out there and figure that i could scratch your back if you could scratch mine! let me know what you are thinking and if you have any colors you prefer or prints that you would like!

  • @JrdnLeigh It's a deal! Sounds great. I will send you a PM. :)

  • I also don't like the blueberry cover! Love love LOVE our thirsties covers too!

I love your little set up you have there. I have the green mountain prefolds but hated how they fit my son between the legs (so wide) but I can see how they would work well on a little one since they aren't mobile yet. I think I will just put them away for baby #2. Great video!!

  • @JenNTim509 Oh, that's a good point! They are thick in the middle... I wonder if the Osocozy prefolds we have in larger sizes will have the same problem... Thanks for the feedback!

  • Alice is sooo adorable! I love her hair! This is making me anxious to give birth already! I can't wait to diaper my newbie. :) We'll be rockin' prefolds and covers as well this time around. Keeping it simple is the way to go!

  • @oochygoochygoo Thanks, Katie. You sound so ready for your new addition! Can't wait to meet her!

  • awesome video! can u possibly do a tutorial on how to put a prefold on? i would love that :) Alice is such a sweety!

  • @AlaskanMommy907 We're no experts but I'll see what we can come up with... There are some really good vids on YT on different prefold folds for boys vs. girls, etc. Thanks! :)

  • What an awesome video! And what a bonus to see adorable Alice peacefully sleeping :)

  • @MandeeTheGreat Thank you! Yeah, she was in the perfect mood for modeling. :)

  • wow 3 weeks times flies! great video ;0) loving the prefolds!!

  • @clairelou09011988 Your preganancy is flying for me, too, Claire. lol

  • great video :)

  • Great vid! Supporting the prefolds! I like it!!!

  • Thanks for showing what the diaper looks like WITH the onsie over it!!! It's hard to gage how bulky they really are w/out seeing the clothes over it :)

  • @rachg09890 No problem! It was something I always wondered about too.

  • I wrote a post about diapering from the thrift store and I made prefolds from t-shirts. It's really easy and efficient. I can't post the link I can message you if your interested.. there's some other cheap tips in there too. I can't get over how stunning Alice is!

  • @elisam34 I would love you to send me the link! You are always full of good ideas! :) You also sound like you'd really enjoy having a daughter... hint, hint. ;)

  • she's looking great can u do a video on how to change a prefoold cloth diper plz

  • Good job Kaity!

  • Great video. Have you tried keeping your wipes wet since they seem to be repelling? The Kissaluvs size 0 and prefolds were my "go to" newborn diapers.

  • @carlynicoleelliotte Thank you. That is such a great answer! I have a couple of containers I was saving for when/if I make solution but I should totally start using them now!

  • she's beautiiifulll!

  • Great video! Thanks for sharing :)

  • aww she looks like you i love it!
