I would post this onto the BF3 official forums if I was a player (I'm not though). Very informative, and I'd think they'd welcome it with all the BF related vids you've done sniper related AND real life long range shooting.
@draxis32 who are you to judge wasting your "valuable" time trying to come up with clever comebacks on a YOUTUBE video with a lot of people the enjoy watching it! Fuck off
Its a pretty simple comparisson. If you would like I can use smaller words and try to simplify the diagrams so that its easier for you to understand. The presentation was very straight foreward, if your having trouble following along, perhaps you'd like to try turning on the youtube subtitles. Then you can read along with the video.
If reading is not your strong area then perhaps you can get an adult to watch with you.
@ryandpahl Oooh, simplify the graphics? New schematics maybe? Look simpleton, you can make a fucking international study of how cows take a shit and include a fucking mammography on it, you're going to be still studying cow shit.
And by the way, stop standing on the dog shit and get yourself out of the ridiculous zone son! Call your lard ass cousin and go shoot ducks red.
Well, If manure and udders turn you on, who am I to judge.
I made a video to inform BF3 gamers how real life ballistics work, based on my experience in competetive long range shooting. Although this may not be up to the standards you set with your manure documentaries, there are many who learned something from my video.
Perhaps you'd like to add something of value to the discussion, instead of resorting to second grade analogies. So far you have only demonstrated your low IQ.
YouTube in general is not worth anyones time, yet we all waste plenty of it here. You are the perfect example; If you don't like a video, stop watching it!
This video is above your level, go find something more child related. My 3 year old likes Dora and Diago, mabey you should try them. They are educational and easy to understand. I'm sure they would be more up your alley.
Glad to see you found the caps lock key again. Mabey you should learn how to use it before you push it.
Really cool way to help new players understand. Also, i love to sniper in the game and i found this video amazing. Please do more videos, I would love to hear your thoughts on the game, and like what it does right or wrong. Thumbs Up!!
Really nice video, didn´t know that the M40 had the slowest bullets ;P It is accually the one I like the most :) PS. Have you made a platoon we can favourite? :)
hahahahahahaha I'd like this video so much more if it wasn't MY head that got shot in that last clip. I didn't realise you were at that much of an angle!
I remember looking at the ballistic model in a graph form for ArmA. From what I remember they took pre calculated tables and created a curve for each different caliber to follow. This means that ArmA should have a very true to life bullet flight path at all ranges.
In BC2 the bulletdrop changed with the scopes, i dont know if thats the case in BF3. also in BF3 i would love to see a vid talking about good sniperspot that overlooked severel high traffic areas, that also showed how much bullet drop there would be to said areas.
No, bullet drop in BFBC2 was static. However, you had the ability to change the FOV, which could magnify your view through the scope. This made it appear like bullet drop was changing. Because the reticle is a lay-over, you would have to use less mildots for hold over depening on your FOV setting. The bullet itself would follow the same trajectory.
I have a video which shows how this works. BFBC2 sniper tips 1.0
Very good as always ryan, but i use the 12x scope the most and it seems to me that the first baar beneath your crosshair is good for shots around 500m in game, the second bar around a 1000m and the 3rd around 1500m this is how i compensate the bullet drop works pretty well for me. looking forward to your next manual!
I used the 8X scope in the video because I was thinking of doing a Mildot comparson as well. But I quickly found out that the reticles in game are just a layover, thus they are not an accurate representation to real life. It would take another whole video to explain the differences.
The drop characteristics seem to be even across many peoples computers. So I am confident that the zoom of the scope is fixed, Not FOV related, and thus I can make a video with a proper drop table.
Firstly, let me express my awe and respect for the amount of effort put in your videos. I watched your BF2 Sniper School videos back in the good ol' days and never turned my back on the sniper class since.
Just a quick question: Are you making a guide on the holdover characteristics of the commonly used sniper weapon systems in the game? Eg. With the M98B as the benchmark, it pretty much hits dead center up to 150m on the 12X scope (in my experience), and the 1st mil line hits at about 550m.
Wow this was a very great video, I really like how much stats and facts you show and tell. But, I have one question from you since you seem like a very experienced sniper. I just unlocked the M40A5 in BF3. I want to ask from you, is the M40A5 better than the SV98? Or.. is it just a good rifle itself? Thank you man!
Wow this was a very great video, I really like how much stats and facts you show and tell. But, I have one question from you since you seem like a very experienced sniper. I just unlocked the M40A3 in BF3. I want to ask from you, is the M40A3 better than the SV98? Or.. is it just a good rifle itself? Thank you man!
@Shortay1325 The SV98 would be your better choice. Ryandpahl mentioned the feet per second and said that the M40A3 was the slowest out of all the rifles. So you're better off with the SV98 if your going long range.
@ryandpahl Yea I am also leaning towards the M40 also. It was kind of a stupid question to ask but you seem know and use snipers a lot. Thanks though.
@ss33988 He's Canadian. And i suppose it's to give the Americans an easier time of understanding it, because i assume that's his largest subscriber base.
the suppressors are hilarious lol. they make you have to put the target completely at the bottom of the scope, if not completely off the scope, for like an 850m shot lol
It humerous to consider all the differences they manufacture into the game in the intrest of diversity. But its a game, and I am sure they are trying to create a balance so that each rifle has strengths and weaknesses. Which one you pick will depend on how you like to play.
Even more odd is the idea of a hot swappable straight pull bolt. There are several stright pull bolt action rifles on the market. But its part of the whole rifle and not something you can change out on a whim.
@randomted I never thought about that. I totally agree with the silencer statement. Don't forget about flash suppressor. Check that description out haha
Well presented! A bit of estimation involved but that's to be expected - it's a game what else could you do? Also learned a thing or two about bullet velocity and drag also; so a very enjoyable video, cheers.
Without direct access to the game code, there is no way to get hard numbers, so I had to be creative. Glad people are accepting my estimations on the subject matter.
Yeah that about sums it up. It sucks that they forced the sub-sonic ammo on the suppressors. But I can see how they wanted to create every unlock with some sort of negative attrtibute. If it was true to life, everyone would be using the suppressor all the time.

Part 2 is going to focus on kit selection, leveling up, and unlocking items.
Part 3 will be in game ballistics and ranging your targets.
M98 with 12x, your right. first line is about 500, second line 1000, third line 1500. I'm pulling those numbers from memory so they may be off a bit.
