  • Maggie Galleger needs to be bitch slaped!

  • maggie gallagher is a fat bitch whos just mad no man wants to fuck her!

  • Maggie Gallagher is great. I want a T-Shirt with her on it. It would really send the liberals in my city into a frothing loony rage. Anyone selling them?

  • I feel like instead of wasting her time discriminating against the LGBT community she should use that time to lose some weight and get educated on gay rights.

She has no real points in her argument, and that last part where she says kids should be loved by a man and a woman is fucking stupid! Can't two men or two women, love one child just as much as a man a woman can? People these days; smh.

  • What a bitch. She's a hypocrate, she keeps accusing him of calling her a liar for disagreeing with him, but then she keeps calling him a liar for disagreeing with her.

  • Hey Maggie, here's a little tip for you. Stop glancing past the camera to look at the gay human rights activist being shown on the screen. I know it's distracting, there being a gay guy in your field of vision without you holding a set of darts or getting ready to punch a photograph sellotaped to a punching bag, but try not to make it too obvious. Just stick to the script your writers gave you, and try not to let your hatred for gay dudes boil out into actual words that you say.

  • As a bisexual woman in a hetero marriage, if it means my friends and potentially my children and grandchildren can marry the person they love, I don't mind the "meaning" of my marriage changing. Marriage is a changing institution. We changed it so blacks and whites can marry, we changed it so a man can only have one wife, we changed it so that women can divorce.

  • Maybe people think that you're a bigot and engaging in discrimination if you oppose same-sex marriage because you are a bigot and engaging in discrimination.

  • @Scompty one can be a bigot & oppose same sex marriage any day of the week & with every breath they take. they can be bigoted for any reason they choose. they can be my guest & live the life of a bigot, enjoy being a bigot & make lots of money being a bigot. i really don't give a shit!

but, when one's bigotry infringes on another's rights guaranteed by the constitution of the untied states of american, it is against the law, & i & millions of americans will just not tolerate it! get it?

  • Suing a church that doesn't allow you to same-sex marry under their roof is like throwing a pork chop at a Jewish synagog. Forcing people to marry someone of the same sex or not marry at all is like saying, "You can wear a yarmulke (Jewish hat) , or no hat at all." It's time to start respecting each other.

  • Let the states decide. If they vote in favor, then so be it. If they vote against, so be it. There is no universal answer - leave it to the people.

  • It's been proven in countries and US states that have (in place) legal, same sex marriages, that there are NO adverse "consequences". Nothing has been "re-defined". The same amount of marriage licenses were distributed to "bride and Groom", the birthrate did not decrease, The sky did not fall, etc.. GET ON WITH T!

  • she's crazy and wrong, but she's in no way a bigot. Can't someone disagree nowadays without being a bigot or racist.

  • Mr. Salmonese! You're so cute! And you rocked that woman, too.

  • that woman is crazy, let people do what they want to do

  • We love you JOE keep up the great work

  • fatass cunt... she knows she's lying and that Joe has the counter-arguement so she talks over him and won't let him be heard.

  • Not only do I quite simply agree with the idea of marriage equality, but in this exchange, notice how warm and friendly Joe comes off by comparison. As for schools, I see nothing wrong with schools teaching tolerance. Even been to Canada? Unlike the US, if someone is gay, "oh, so what?" where as in the US it's more like, "OMFG, THEY ARE GAY?!" The US looks like a lumbering, bigoted oaf compared to other nations like Spain and Canada.

  • she's an evil whore who needs to be ran over by a train over and over and over.

  • She 100% bigot, 0% Christian.

  • Her point that Society uniquely recognises a union between man/woman to provide legitimacy for the child is a totalitarian fallacy. What about divorce and remarriage? is that kid now considered illegitamate? Maybe in her little fundy church as they plot their next justification for meddling with innocents. I swear I hate the religious. I have to get over the rage, it can only be detrimental. to me.

  • OK, i have an idea, why don't we make all marriages "vaild" between the ages of 18 and 65, then what will people say? They will voice an argument that this is wrong. Discrimination is wrong, religion is the base of over 90% of wars we see on a daily basis. I think once we get religion out of politics, we will live a much better life. I am a buddhist but you don't see me pushing my beliefs on others. So why do other feel it is needed to shove your beliefs down others throats.

  • Every straight marriage does NOT have the capacity for kids. Nobody says boo when a post-menopausal woman applies for a marriage liscence, or anyone who is sterile by birth, accident, or surgical procedure. Vascectomy and tubaligation are a choice, and it's okay to discriminate against people for a choice they made, right? (rolls eyes)

  • Promise to have kids never comes up in marriage vows. And being married to someone else does not prevent a natural father or mother from being involved. If you want to prevent kids from not having both a father and a mother in the home, then you have to go after divorce rights and premarital sex rights as well as gay marriage.

  • Before 2:30 his volume is lower then her volume. Then they turn his volume up to let him talk, but they don't turn her volume down, so she can interupt him and let her talk over him...

This is so wrong!!! It's clear the media is choosing sides....

    SHAME ON YOU

  • Also, this wouldn't be the first time the "definition" of marriage would be changed.

For the longest time interracial marriages were illegal, and it was said that mixing races would destroy the "normal" white family.

They also said that God was morally opposed to mixing of races, because blacks were an inferior race, and that those who did marry outside of their race were committing a sin against God.

Any of those arguments sound familiar?

  • Well you can't discriminate against same sex couples when it comes to issues such as adoption, because in some states to discriminate against people due to sexual orientation is an actual hate crime.

And the whole thing of her saying, "Quit calling people liars Joe when you don't agree with them it's unkind."

She called HIM a liar, outright and he only implied that what she was saying was untrue.

So like a right wing marriage extremist to be a hypocrite.

  • I couldn't agree with you more, it's people like her and cases like this that made me openly drop Christianity as my religion and convert to Buddhism, a religion that openly is fair and doesn't condone any discrimination of any kind, hell, the temple i go to has two gay monks, are you going to see that at any other religous place, no. the reason is simple, religion is a way to spread hate but forcing others to see the way you see, but with a head in the ass all people see at times is shit.

  • Well that isn't completely true, because Gene Robinson is an openly gay bishop of the Episcopal Church, and other churches do support gay rights, and have gay congregation members and gay religious leaders. So, not all religions are opposed to homosexuality, it's just a vast majority is.

  • If she wants to keep the meaning of marriage maybe she should try banning divorce, which is a direct attack on the institution!

  • That woman makes herself look like an idiot, as well as her fight. Joe speaks so eloquently and KNOWS what he's talking about.

    Gays agenda:

    1. Equal rights

    2. See #1

  • 3:06 is interesting

  • .....The whole thing feels so hopeless. I love my partner and I would love to marry him.... But so many people get so angry about it. Apparently, my rights mean nothing, because religion and government have to mix in America. Isn't that in the constitution? The mixing of Church and State? Oh yes, that was there....

  • Don't give up. It's a journey, but we have to keep walking. ;oP

  • Just hang in there, i know the feeling after my place of employment refused to recgnize my partner of close to 2 years when it comes to insurance and dependent/beneficiary information. We will soon be seen as equals, i hope.

  • 5:14 - 5:18

What does a doctors faith have to do with artificially inseminating a gay couple? A person of faith, in most cases, is a person for life. They're looking down on folks that wish to bring children into this world, which is quite opposite than looking down on folks that wish to abort an unwanted pregnancy.

I'm pro choice, but I think it's funny that the religious nutjobs pick and choose which arguements to bring forward without looking at the big picture.

    Equality will win.

  • I think the whole issue is ridiculous (of course, not as pathetic as the ad), but I kinda agree with her at 5:50.

  • What you're agreeing with is an agency that is looking to place a child in a loving home should have the right to deny the child that happiness just because the parents to be are of the same sex.

If an adoption agency has found that a same-sex couple is quite sound to have a foster child in their home, it should not be an issue, period. It doesn't matter what "religion" the agency is based on; they're not denying adoptions because of religious beliefs, only that they are of the same sex.

  • Oh yes, because changing the definition of a word is the same as changing the actuality. Gay people get married every day, we just don't call it that. In my opinion, stopping gay people from using certain words non-offensively in a private context when there are definite positive elements which apply to the censored phrase is very unfortunate.

  • This whole issue is ludicrous.

Allowing same sexes to marry does nothing to affect the supposed "sanctity" of opposite sex marriage. That's like saying allowing women to vote will affect the sanctity of elections.

In some states children can get married with the consent of their parents. People in the U.S. get married and divorced at the drop of a hat and something like 50% of all marriages end in divorce.

  • You miss my point. I don't want to be at the bed of a near stranger. I want to hold the hand of my lover when she dies. I want to file my taxes with her. I want to have equal adoption rights. I'm not proposing that you destroy marriage, in any way shape or form. I would be perfectly in agreeance with a civil union if it included all the same rights that a marriage constitutes. I'm not asking you to change your life at all, just to add the rights that should be there in the first place.

  • You know what, I don't agree with gay marriage. I'm a lesbian, and I think that gay marriage should not be legalized. You want to know why? Because marriage should be only in the church. You feel so threatened by it, fine. Keep it. But that also means that any "marriage" performed outside of a church, or a remarriage won't be recognized as marriage, instead a civil union. Yow want marriage to be a religious thing, fine. Do it. We just want equal rights.

  • Did you read my comment, or just shove a pencil in your eye? I do not have equal rights. If my wife is in the hospital dying, I can't be in the room to hold her hand while she breathes her last breath. I don't want 'marriage', I want a civil union, or whatever else you want to call it, but I want the same exact rights that a heterosexual couple would have. Furthermore, you have no right to tell me what words I do and do not spit at. This world doesn't need any more children. We have enough.

  • R U suggesting that gay couples should just forget the fact that they love who they love and marry a person of the opposite sex. That sounds to me like you are advocating for marriage that is not based on love. it is that kind of thinking that destroys the 'sanctity of marriage'. a marriage between 2 people who love eachother, no matter what their sexual orientation or identity is, sounds to me to have a lot more validity. ps there are so many orphans that would benefit from a loving gay family

  • Sorry for directing my comment towards you. You are actually reasonable. Unfortunately, when you say "we just want equal rights" you are not speaking for most gays who are fixated on redefining marriage. I was wrong to assume that you spit at a word, but then you proceed to "spit" by saying we have enough children. Unfortunately, this same unwelcoming spirit is infesting all of society.

  • No, I am not speaking for anyone else, but myself, I was wrong to use "we". And I said that we have enough children because if you haven't noticed, the world is slowly, actually very rapidly, becoming overpopulated. As a race, we do not have to space, nor the supplies to support the amount of children even now. Why add more to the problem?

  • caldopeixe, marriage is not about procreation. But yes OBVIOUSLY this is about the rights - and the state must use the same term to describe this legal union, whatever that is. EVERYBODY pays taxes.

  • maddiety1231, I agree but I also accept that stating that marriage should be done away with is political suicide. By far the most successful way of achieving equal rights is by demanding marriage. Can you imagine a gay rights group started running a campaign for the removal of marriage from government for all? They would be crucified...

  • I'm not saying that marriage be done away with, and I know that if there were a campaign of people that called for the removal of marriage, there would be an upheaval of peace. The reason why I put this opinion out there was to show the religious arguments for the utter bullshit that they really are.

  • It constantly amazes me how many right-wingers get up in arms about the idea of "redefining marriage"....did any of them raise a fuss when Bush redefined "spying" or "torture" or "contraception" or "amnesty" or "invasion" or "prisoner" or "victory"? Why did those words mean so little? And why does "marriage" mean so much?

  • mrtorressayshello: Just an FYI, that was Mike Barnicle, not Chris Matthews....although you're 100% right about his BS detector!

  • There are more than two parts of humanity which marriage could be unifying. This woman is neglecting all of our differences, narrowing her scope to just male and female. We are Jewish, Muslim, Asian, Islander,Christian, black, white, female, male, gay, straight, trans. We're all Americans; we have more similarities than differences. Why can't we as a nation acknowledge and respect our differences when it comes to marriage?Because of fearful misinterpretations of a holy book?this is not a theocracy

  • I mean yes I see how it affects people, but it's not in a negative way.The worse it'll do is let everyone be able to love without fear. And who cares about the churches views on this? They've already deemed just about everyone sinners and people bound for hell so if they don't want to acknowledge this as marriage then let them wallow in their beliefs. You can always get married at a court house or cityhall. You dont need a preacher/priest to tell you you're married under the eyes of the 'lord'.

  • Okay what the hell. She doesn't even try to listen to him, the moment she hears something that isn't what she wants to hear she just starts spewing off bull crap. And I don't really see how it affects people... Our school doesn't teach about marriage and it's public. Our school isn't to teach about love and marriage, it's to get us ready for the real world and to make a living out of ourselves. And I just don't understand why she can't just see that marriage is about love, not gender.

  • She talks alot about change..."things for everyone are going to change...their goign to change" . well...slavery ending was a change too, but we dont gripe about that anymore. They did back in the day, but change cannot be stopped!

  • And I would also like to say that I look up to and respect Joe Solmonese he and HRC have done a lot for our LGBTQ community...he is a very wonderful person...

  • Maggie does nothing but spew bullshit and bigotry she needs to learn how to shut her mouth

  • Maggie you had your turn to talk, don't be such a bitch!

  • That's right lady, just like when it was illegal when blacks and whites couldn't get married. How would feel about that now all these years later. People need to wake the fuck up!

  • poor woman. her thoughts are obviously polluted by religious ideals. they should've sent someone who knew what they were talking about. Clearly, the woman's side had nothing on us! All we demand is equality. Is that too much to ask? The GLBTQ community rules! :D

  • Maggie is a victim alright, a victim of religious pyschosis & just like religion, she turns things around accusing people of callin her a liar/bigot, as if persecution gives her veracity, & spews her ugly mind tryin to make her beliefs our laws.

I'm straight & can say that ending inequality will not have the slightest neg effect on me.

Today- war, glogal warming, crop failure, energy, meat industry... maggots waisting the time/emotional energy/$ of us all fighting for equality, religion

  • This group is obviously acting from their fears. I have a dream where we all act from a place of love! I have a dream that one day soon ALL people will be afforded the same rights and liberties!

    I HAVE A DREAM!

  • marraige has always been, and always will be, about love between two people. it's that simple and that will never change. that woman is just a big douchebag.

  • That bitch is downright rude! She even interrupts that other guy! SHE NEEDS TO DO THE WORLD A FAVOR AND DIE!!!!

How can she say things like this (i.e. about the religious adoption agencies)?! What a fat, horrid bigot!

I honestly hope she drops dead of a heart attack or something in the VERY near future. Joe Solmonese is a great man. 5 stars

  • Why does he let that stupid woman talk about 10 times as much as that man?

They give her plenty of screen time to spread her lies and the other person hardly no time to show her lies.

  • Re: the end of the video... she is delusional. Marriage will NOT change for hetero couples. A boy & girl will still date, sleep together, walk down the aisle, move into their home, fuck, pop out their litters of puppies, and later 50% get divorced. Won't change. Marriage LAW will EXPAND to include more pairs of people. Her view is ancient, outdated, and weak...typical fallicy of drawing invisible strings between who is living upstairs & downstairs. M.Y.O.B.

  • Seems like Maggie lives in a Westchester cacoon writing books about how wonderful marriage is etc. You if anyone else should be joyous to spread that feeling with any humankind who choose to commit to it. Stop being afraid to change your views, I know you've had them forever but there is still more to come in this life. Remember when black people were treated as less. If you lived in those times would you still follow the herd and protest their freedom? You should be ashamed.

  • She doesnt mind gays living together or adopting ,, she just doesnt want to make it formal because it will cause a lot of changes. UMMMM OF COURSE there will have to be changes.... life is changes. Losing weight is a change.. and thats good. Change can be good sometimes Maggie and dont worry the new LOVE generation will get through just fine on raising healthy and happy kids. Whether it will be a single parent raising it after maybe one parent passed on, or maybe a gay couple.. with love.

  • AH, she makes me want to punch her!

  • Gays need to show her that we are capable to love and raise healthy families :D

  • I don't know a thing about Maggie, but from what I get from this video is that she just doesn't want to share the word "marriage" with gay people. Seriously, what was the debate here? We just heard her talk bull and when Joe tried to talk his part [his part being TRUE FACTS], she just kept speaking. Now THAT's unkind.

As always, unhappy people will do all it takes them to make other people unhappy.

  • Remember that no matter what people like this say, there have been more strides this year in favor of same sex marriage than ever before. There is more to come! Stay strong. Stay hopeful!

    REPEAL PROP H8!

  • That Maggie lady was spewing absolute swill, & buying into her own lies too! I'm not calling her a "Bible-thumping bitch" but I am calling her a liar (whether she likes to be called out as such or not).

The owners of the New Jersey pavilion MUST abide by the law, & the law says that they cannot discriminate. Their outrage at being slapped on the wrist for their actions is their OWN FAULT.

Same with the other examples. They entered the public sphere & then refuse to accept/abide by the law!

  • I am frightened by the message this woman is sending. The institution of marriage is a public, personal and often religious commitment two individuals proclaim for each other. All people should be afforded totally equal rights under the law regarding marriage. Maggie gives an example, religious adoption agencies will be put out of business if they deny service to gay couples then so be it. That's not infringement of their religious rights; simply put .. its discrimination & THAT'S illegal.

  • Maggie! Just because nobody will have you... don't take away my right to be with the person that I love and enjoy the same rights as every other Married couple. Buy a vibrator honey, it will solve at least one of your long list of NEEDS!

  • I like how she hammers "You're not telling the truth, you're not telling the truth" and then makes a big point to ask Joe not to call people liars when he disagrees because "it's just unkind."

  • Ole Maggie gives back the meaning to a true Hypocrite. She tells the guy not to call her a liar and yet she did him several times. Her opinion is as lame as the rest of her. Get over it Maggie it will happen.

  • Maggie looks like a typical Downs Sydrome female,,with a bob with bangs and short and overweight....let out of the group home for an afternoon.

  • Why are this people so afraid of a change? I bet they would be against banning slavery, because it would be a change. They would be against equal rights for black people, or against women's suffrage... I say let's welcome the change, it's about time it happened!

  • Horrible "debate." I will not say my personal bias or point of view concerning this issue but this was a waste of time as are most televised interviews.

"Let's take two opposite personalities, stick them on screen for 8 mins., have them tear each other apart, never get down to root issues or evidence... just to increase show ratings and make two groups of people become even more divided!"

    Ya sounds awesome! *rolls eyes*

Nothing was accomplished in this video.

  • I hope the focus of this video does not turn to Maggie Gallagher as a "bible thumping bitch." Our country is filled with people like her, and we cannot hope to change that by name calling.

We are on the side of love and equality. We do not need to name call. Doing the right thing will always win out. We must stay strong, and not resort to the same lying and mud slinging they do. Be the better person. Our cause is just.

  • You sick, brainwashed, bible-thumping bitch! I CANNOT stand people like her.

  • Fantastic...

  • wow, what a disaster for the NOM! I'm straight, but there is no way I would agree with the NOM. I did my own research and found their lies to be... more than obvious. I'm not just standing up for my gay friends but for MYSELF. Also, my church is supportive of gay marriage and our congregation has only grown!! I support marriage equality for all my sisters and brothers.

  • She calls him a liar at 4:52 and then gets offended when he says she isn't being truthful at 6:52. What a hypocrite!

  • I noticed this too! She calls him a liar several times, or rather calls him dishonest, that he knows the truth but is hiding it. Then he states the actual facts of a case and she knocks him down for calling her a liar. "It's just unkind." What a hypocritical bigot. I am honestly shocked that this woman has a job and was chosen as a representative of that organization. She knowingly berates and talks over the other guest the entire time. Her behavior is positively shameful.

  • She is probably married to someone that had strings pulled to get her into that position of that organization.

Unkind is a kind way to describe her...

  • Seriously! It's bullshit.

  • Maggie's blood sugar is low ,,she needs another donut. FAST!!!!

  • haha.

  • After Nazis, homophobes are the most disgusting and degenerate group of people on the planet. She is a lowlife.

  • Hell yeah she is!

  • isn't it feeding time for that cow in the red? I'm surprised anyone would want to marry her. she looks like a big lesbian!

  • From her own lipps "discarded relics of bigotry".....love it!!!

  • im sorry, but since when do public schools teach about marriage?? i was never taught about marriage in school...they're making up their own arguments and none of them make any sense!

  • I second the school comment. Teaching about marriage should be done at home anyway, or at least basic cable.

  • I third (?) this! I never remember--and it's been a few years--ever being "educated" about marriage in school. It doesn't happen, it won't happen. The arguments are getting slimmer and slimmer. I wish, really, they'd just come out and say they hate gays so at least it's an honest debate.

  • How on earth is your right as a doctor infringed upon just because of gays? The only way I can think of is artificial insemination and that seems to f&*$ with religious beliefs already. As for the mother with the kid, let me play you a song on the violin... Public schools teach evolution. Not quite jiving with the bible's view, but kids make up their own minds whether or not they'll believe that. Total B.S. and I love how the woman calls Joe a liar and then says it's rude to do that.

  • I think this bitch has turned ME gay.

  • The completely inane logic of bigots like this fat bitch never ceases to amaze me.

  • when i first seen this ad i seriously thought it was a parody. wow. she must REALLY need to get laid.

  • I'm curious, what is so scary about two people who love each other gaining the same rights as others that love each other. Why is anatomy even a factor? In response to school teachings: heaven forbid your kids or anyone else's kids learn what is "out there" in the world, this might just make them think for themselves.

  • Why do people think they should benefit from tax exemptions but then not follow the tax rules? If you are going to GET government funds that ALL taxpayers (including LGBT) pay, then YES, you have to abide by government laws. Duh! If the government legally recognizes all marriages, then if you use taxpayer money, or get a government credit, you must abide by that. Tuff noogies.

  • Joe should have pointed out that other faiths have conflicting beliefs about many things... including homosexuality . Therefore no one can say that same-sex couples shouldn't get married just because ONE particular faith or ONE particular set of faiths disagree with it. For example, catholics don't believe in birth control. Should the government ban birth control because it's 'teaching' catholics that it's okay to take birth control pills? NO

  • Precisely. Why should any particular religion be touted above the others? There are plenty of religions that find homosexuality NOT to be an abomination.

  • Person below me...So what I got from your comment was you were saying it's your right to not be honest with your children so that they will follow your religion? My children are taught religion but when the time comes for them to find out if it's true, that's on them and that's THEIR right not yours.

  • Sure, the ads were wrong and it won't affect anyone's marriage, but it's every fundamentalist parent's right to use the only known method of convincing their children of their faith: telling them that no one strongly disagrees with it.

If you damned liberals keep getting your way, it's going to be hard to keep up the act. And that's against freedom of religion.

Also, it's impolite to call people who do that sort of thing liars ! Don't make us come and haughtily lecture you on national TV !

  • That woman is very contemptible. She won't allow anyone to speak. Justifies everything by inferring that religon is what makes people honorable, honest, kind, and loving. Insisting, her delusion that men and women who choose to get married and have children will have inferior existences. She makes heterosexual marriage sound as if it was force 'straight people' to live like morlocks like in H.G. Wells book or the X-men.

  • I won't bash that woman. I do not feel the need to call her names to feel better. I do understand that they feel threatened that their opinion will be censored. However, marriage is a Constitutional right for everyone, so banning someone's right to marry is not the answer. I think that religious groups need to think of a better ideal to protect their rights, while not infringing upon the rights of others.

  • Someone needs to tell that bitc---woman that because marriage comes with a number legal benefits, it cannot be denied to anyone, or else it would be a violation of the 14th amendment.

  • this woman and her stupid bigoted mind of right-wing fanaticism makes me SICK. her stupid bangs, her whiny insistence on her lies being fact is just nauseating. i've met Joe. He's AMAZING. THIS WOMAN only spreads ignorance, her opinion is seriously dangerous. bigotry cannot be tolerated. PERIOD.....thank god for Salmonese and HRC.

  • selfish, selfish, selfish.

What's disgusting about it is her only agrument is that people will have to allow adoption to couples that don't have the same sexual orientation as them,...that's how stupid it is, lets face it, people who are taught to hate have a bias, hate 'zeal' towards the people they're taught to hate, and they do what they've always done, they make up blatent lies about other peoples rights, HIV and AIDS, etc ect....

  • so many people are being lied to because they're not comfortable with it, and refuse to acccept they're wrong and educate themselves.

  • Chris Matthews would have chewed her up and spit her out.

  • It's on now. Gays Vs. Bigots. Who will win?

  • Gallagher needs to stop over talking Salmonese. She is just scared of the truth he is trying to speak. Maggie

"STOP BEING SO RUDE AND LET OTHER PEOPLE TALK". Her obnoxious behavior is a perfect example of how their ads are trying to overpower the truth with their disgusting lies.

  • I disagree with Joe about the adoption agency, and I think he is pushing things too far and hurting the gay rights movement. We ARE in fact infringing on their ability to practice their religion if we shut down their harmless adoption agency. If we are going to demand something of the government that some find silly, we ought to allow our opponents to have what they want of the government even if we find it silly, provided both institutions are harmless, even though philosophically opposed.

  • That idiot's (Gallagher) whole argument ,summed up in the last 30 seconds, is based on the "premise" that a child will somehow suffer if not raised in a man-woman marriage. Wake up lady, not only is a child more likely to be raised in a divorced household, but gay unions produce healthy, well-adjusted children.

  • Poor Maggie Gallagher-- She seems to have no neck..

  • yeah, that helps.

  • It's a typical strategy of the abuser (the one with the power advantage engaging in the oppression of thers) to try and claim "victim" status. In a heterosexist and homophobic society, it's pretty obvious who oppresses who.

  • Well said! I can't believe that the homophobes are this desperate though! That must mean that they are losing and we are winning! That human equality will soon prevail! And hopefully, there will be marriage equality in all states soon, right? :)

  • I am not advocating for the banning of heterosexual marriage. I am not stating that heterosexuality is an abomination. I am not requesting that religious people be excluded from society or silenced. So, stop playing the NOM "victim card". Lame.

  • @66605: You. He was attempting to show you a turned-table situation. Obviously you didn't get it, or you chose not to, so you could try to trash him. Anyway, I don't see how gay marriage is an oxymoron. Marriage is marriage; gay is an extra word. Unless you're focusing on the male x female thing and not the love, family, happiness thing.

  • And to top it all off, if people tough of it, they wouldn't mind what others decide, but since evryone else has their hearts black as coal can't leave the people who decide to have some peace of their on, in the end, homophobia or anti-gay marriage comes out of the same pathetic mind, to not let people to have their own peace

  • Correction: hearts and minds.

  • Oh gosh, reading through some of the absurd comments to this video I am reminded - yet again - of why it is completely pointless to attempt to engage in rational discussions with homophobes and religious extremists. Don't waste your time/energy on such people. Better to focus on building bridges with people in society who may be against gay marriage now but who have heats and minds that aren't possessed by hatred and/or the damn bible! These are the people whose attitudes we can help change.

  • I don't get the Catholic thing.

Spain has a much higher % of their people Catholic than the USA & they allow gay marriage, and I haven't heard of the country being destroyed...have you?

  • Almost every state allows gays to adopt.

We even do that here in the redneck State of Texas.

The reason almost all states allow gays to adopt is because the states have so many older children praying to have someone adopt them & the states have a very difficult time placing them, especially any with mental or physical problems.

  • Maggie stay out of my life. P.S. Stay away from the junk food.

  • What impressive misrepresentation of information! Never in my life have I seen a political ad in which I caught so much bias within such a short time period.

Honestly, NOM, or whatever your called, if you want an anti-marriage ad, at least tell the truth and your true beliefs.

If you need help, here it is: You don't like homosexual marriage because you think your religion tells you that they are wrong. Since that is the truth - then TELL IT. Don't make up things.

  • Ok please let somebody take the National Organization for Marriage's new ad and do a mash up with "It's Raining Men" by The Weather Girls! PLEASE! Cuz that would be FABULOUS! I want credit of course!

  • You know, screw all this "We're not trying to teach homosexuality in schools", I say that is exactly what needs to be done! The "straight agenda" has been forced down our proverbial throats since day one with TV shows, ads, billboards, & even in school books, so why not start teaching the so-called "gay agenda" in public schools as well. I'm sure some poor little gay boy or girl would greatly appreciate learning they are normal at the age of 5 rather then having to take years of therapy later.

  • Many parents with common sense and a belief in equality are already doing this. I took my children to one of the rallies after the Iowa decision was made. We have an obligation to teach our children these delicate social situations so that the next generation can be informed, not ignorant... so that the next generation can feel empowered, not shunned and shamed.

  • Wow, that's terrible. I can't believe the Catholic church got their license taken away after they refused to acknowledge willing homes for kids without families! How abso-fucking-lutely TRAGIC.

  • Caught your sarcasm :)

  • they didn't. It was a charity run by the church, and accepting government funds. They placed kids with gay couples, and voted to continue, but the church shut them down. They could've just stop accepting public funds and gone on as before.

  • Maggie is a raging bitch! She'd turn the producers of "Girls Gone Wild" gay!

  • Haha, great comment.

  • Maggie Needs to Learn some manners. She has repeatedly shown this behavior that she has the more "just" voice. She was just as iratating on dr phil. Ignorance is bliss but obviously not as silent. Kudos to Joe for fighting forward not fighting with B*tches like Maggie. In other words learn to shut up Maggie.

  • Can Maggie learn how not to interrupt when other people are talking? She's irritating as Hell!

  • Maggie just needs to come out of the closet.

  • That is one bitter, bloviating, bilious buttermonster, if I've ever seen one.

  • If that entire was about race instead of sexuality we would have riots.

  • Now you're trying to deny tax-paying adults equal rights under the law because it will "wreck the language"? You might want to reconsider your priorities...

  • Homosexuality fall well within the range of normal human sexual behavior. I don't know what planet you live on, but you just don't know what you are talking about. Marriage, in your mind or in you church may mean opposite sex unions, but the government has no right to make that distinction and crate second class category of citizenship.

According to your logic it would be acceptable to legal distinctions such as "black marriage" or "white marriage"...

  • Is lying within the range of normal human behavior? Maybe there should be no legal distinction between telling the truth and lying. Wouldn't this be the fair way to deal with all the liars out there? Can't have discrimination against prevaricators now can we? End the bigotry now!

  • nice try, but your analogy is false. Lying and gays have nothing in common except their both on your list of "bad things".

  • Generally when when intelligent people differentiate between acceptable and non acceptable behaviors they try to examine the effects of those behaviors. Lying sometimes has obvious (at least i thought it was obvious) negative consequence. Whereas two men fucking each other has no negative effects. It is rather inconsequential for parties not directly involved in the activity.

  • Lesbians have the lowest AIDS rate of all. Lower than straight people. Does that prove that they are the most rational?

  • Please do explain why homosexuality is harmful to society or why it is a perversion. I am on pins and needles here waiting for more of your intelligent logic.

  • Don't be a hypocrite Maggie. If you don't want people calling you a liar on factual basis, don't call other people liars when you know you're wrong.

  • My kid is in public school. She learns reading, writing & math. She does music, gym and art. Marriage, gay, straight or otherwise is simply not part of the curriculum. These bigots make no sense.

  • even if they taught my 8 year old son about gay marriage I would have no problem with it because it wont change anything. His sexuality is biologically predetermined and there is nothing any one can or should do to change that. It it will make my son more open minded then please by all means.

  • Anyone else notice how hung up she is on this guy pointing out when she's not telling the truth, even telling him "quit calling people liars...it's just unkind", and yet SHE calls HIS comments untrue no fewer than THREE times! So she can call him a liar but he can't call her a liar?? Listen lady, if your position on any issue can't stand up to factual scrutiny and your only defense is "don't call me a liar", you're on the wrong side of that issue.

  • at the very end she says that marriage will change, liek that's a bad thing!!! The whole POINT is that MARRIAGE NEEDS TO CHANGE!!!

    =S

  • What she doesn't understand is that marriage has been changing. More specifically, marriage has evolved over time. Marriage now is not the same as marriage 2000 years ago.

  • Wives used to be property of their husbands. True story.

  • Joe definitely has guts to deal with these Nazi fascists. I commend him. There's no way that I can do that without reaching out that frame and strangulating that bitch.

  • I would love to know where schools teach about marriage? In my 17 years of schooling I have never learned about marriage in school.

If the Religious right wants to attack anything they should be attacking divorce seeing as how divorce brakes up approximately 50% of all marriages. Either that or the quickie Vegas marriage officiated by Elvis!

  • She is trying to say that we should not allow same-sex marriage, as it would force establishments to acknowledge &/or cater to that population &/or infringe upon their own liberty of religious belief, etc. However, isn't that just the same as Affirmative Action law for the ethnicity divide? It is the same thing; one just based on ethnicity, and ours now based on sexuality. The infringement toward the "majority" would still be minimal compared to all the trouble we have had to always suffer.

  • An ad based all on lies. No doctor ever had to choose between his faith or his job because of gay marriage. No church ever had lost tax-exempt status or was punished by the government for failing to recognize same-sex marriages (it's not even legal in New Jersey). And certainly no school in California EVER taught anything about rightful marriages--same-sex or otherwise.

Lies. Every fucking one of them.

  • I don't remember ever being taught about marriage in any context when I was in school.
