  • Lyrics continued: One day I will be going far away. I do not like to stay at one place, neither to have anyone following me. I only want to watch your beautiful face, but not to know your suffering. I wish to receive heavenly rains, but not to get your tears. I do not want to believe there really are evils, neither want to hurt anyone. You will never know who I am and will never tell that I am a fake.

  • My translation of lyrics: I walked from the south to the north. I wondered from the days to the nights. I want everybody to see me, but do not want anyone to know me. If you can see that I am a little tired, please pour me a bowl of water. If you have fallen in love with me, please kiss me in my mouth. I have my feet and I have my legs. I have those mountains and I have those rivers. I want everything but hatred and grief. If you really love me, you will never be afraid to regret.

  • "Guzheng" is the name , go wikipeida and find out very popular music instrucment in China since 2000 years ago

  • I wonder what that instrument is she's playing, I want one in my song I'm workin on.

  • @vinbasshred

It's called "qin" which is one of traditional Chinese instruments

  • @lordzilu1584 thanks! I will try to find some samples to manipulate.

  • bullshit

  • why are there so many damn haters? Does it really matter where he is from??

  • I'm French, and I'm learning Chinese. Two years ago, our teacher and us listened to this song. This is incredible!

  • You know I wonder, how do people know what chinese singing means when you can't distinguish the tones?

  • @BitchinnShoes07 It's all about context.

  • @SinkingThoughts Well how do you know what the context is?

  • @BitchinnShoes07 It is set by every spoken character. Understanding comes from recognizing phrases and sentence structure.

  • There are 56 ethnic groups in China. The majority is Han, and the rest are minorities, including "Chao Xian" which is what you call "Korean" today. These minorities have been living in China for centuries. Cui Jian is ethnically Chao Xian but he, and his ancestors, were all born and grow up in China. So he is Chinese.

  • 1:35 awesome

  • what's this bullshit? call this rock, i call this piece of shit. :/

HATE me LOVE me im here to stay

  • @jovitheman

lets see some of ure piece of art, and lets compare to this "bullshit"... oh no - you lose, stinky

  • @jovitheman LOL coming from a Taylor Swift fan. Eat shit and die cunt.

  • @infantileretard HAHAHAHA PLEASE I LISTEN TO ALL MUSIC EXCEPT BULLSHIT. i dont want to eat shit and die, so sorrry HAHAHAH

  • @jovitheman I'm sure you deny it but do so in secret every day - while listening to Taylor Swift hahahaha.

  • @infantileretard k lor.

  • @jovitheman Why're you here to stay if you don't like it? :P Go listen to music that you enjoy, and don't waste your time or other people's by posting hurtful comments that the music artist himself most likely won't even read, and therefore the comment will have no point aside from making you look silly.

  • @jovitheman You're a Cunt. Like seriously, an absolute cunt.

  • @777v666 ok. im your dad.

  • passionate, straight from the heart real singing

  • saxophonist is GREAT!!

  • beautiful song

  • love the music!!! love his voice too!

  • down: stupid comment.

  • in fact - stupid you

  • good music is good music. the universe works no other way~

  • what i love the most about foreign music is that its interesting hearing their instruments and the sound of it

  • Dude's like the Dave Matthews of China.

  • Wiki him. If you listen to his songs over the years, his style has obviously changed and grown. But more importantly, he's been the father of Chinese Rock and Roll and probably its most famous protest singer.

  • I love Cui Jian I love china

  • Nice to hear the original version - I heard Silver Ash's cover first. Both are brilliant in their own ways : ^.^

  • Brilliant

didnt know china had this kind of music :)

  • @chaos2993 I know! It's a crying shame his music isn't promoted like all the mandopop and cantopop that swamps mainstream Chinese media...

  • Nobody can choose his own parents. So what does that have to do with his music and message to the world? His love for China, the nation he was born and raised in, and his actions determine what he is. Cui Jian is a great man with great hopes for the Chinese people! Choose unity and work toward our goals... And bove all, be true to your own dreams! Now tell me... Does your arguing and fighting over ethnicity fit in his message?

  • Well said!

  • protip: Race is purely a social construct. Whether he is Korean or Chinese is irrelevant. Both "Chinese" and "Korean" are social constructs, and are ultimately meaningless.

  • True.

  • 这是我听到的最好的版本, 应该是为北京癌症基金会义演的现场!

  • ...it doesn't matter if he is a korean or a chinese. as long as he produces good music with thoughtful meaning, that's good enough.

  • @z1vcp if only more of the world shared that opinion

  • @z1vcp He is Chinese though...

  • no matter where his parents from, he grows in beijing and express us in chinese.

  • uhh both his mother and father are korean

  • as in their ethnicity, the culture they practice is of korean tradition

  • Check out this guy's history, man. His song, I Have Nothing, was played at Tiananmen Square. He was a classically trained trumpet player under Mao who became the "Father of Chinese Rock". Do you know anything about Mao? He banned all but 8 pieces of music. That's bad ass. Check out the song where he wears a red cloth over his eyes. This guy is more punk than Sid Vicious ever tried to be.

  • stop talking nonsense if you know nothing...

  • I love Cui Jian and I love love love this song!

  • chinese korean =)

  • loil did u know cui jian is korean wtf rofl lawl.

  • Chinese.

  • no lol....he's KOREAN MATE. korean ethnicity. go read his profile up. but obviously he's been in china long time

  • yeah, every Chinese is Korean. Chinese language is Korean, the Chinese civilization is a part of Grand Korean Civilization. Panda and Confusus are origniated from Korean. Korea is the center of the world, no no no, the center of the universe!!!

    You like it? Enjoy~

  • SB 我是中国人哈哈 i just saying that Cui Jian is ORIGINALLY from KOREA ok? RELAX . 放松一点ok?

  • no he's not originally from Korea, he is ethically Korean, in terms of cultural upbringing and nationality, i think he's 100% Chinese

  • bullshit.. everyone on earth know Cui Jian is chinese.... only 汉奸走狗 like you would think everything is korean.

  • fool.. he is korean race.. which their race move to china a thousand years ago. after a thousand years of mix blood how could you say that he is korean?? you fool

  • i said he is of korean ancestry, of course thats right, u think u put a black man in china, after 1000 years, he is no more a black man?

  • yea exactly! if you put a black man in China for 1000 years.. don't even say 1000 year just 500 years you will see any trace of black skin or treat left on him..

1000 years thats more then 20 generation.. well perhaps he still have around of 1/20 of korean blood.. but would you call him chinese or korean?

19/20 chinese 1/20 korean.. which one choose his race?

  • so a man is korean because he have 1/20 or less korean blood on him..

and all the 19/20 chinese blood not count??? fool~~

  • so, u know who his parents had mated with, n that he is 1/20th korean ??? what if he just stayed within the korean population in china, after 1000 yrs, he is not korean ?

  • am very sorry to say that.. korean race ain't like zang which 90% live in tibet.. there are no specific settle land for them.. the korean race have been spread all over china sinse a thousand years ago..

so unless they marry their own brother/sister else they wouldn't find much of korean race. you know this race is very rare seen in china~~

  • dude whatever lol. lets just say he is a chinese with korean ancestors

  • emptyna... I'm pretty sure his Korean ancestors only moved to China within the last 200 years. There were a lot of Koreans who moved to Manchuria during the Japanese occupation, and there were enough of them that the government even gave them their autonomous region. Both of Cui Jian's parents are ethnic Korean.

  • @miknawoos to be honest with you, 5000 years ago, japanese, korean are all from china. cuz china is the place where human civilazation begins. CUIJIAN is a Chinese not a Korean for sure. new r u saying that John Lennon is from Rome?!

  • Umm, so he's ethnically Korean but grew up in Beijing? That would make him Chinese, not sure what you find so mind-blowing about this.

  • yea thats wat i been trying to say all along he's ethnically korean wtf all this big fuss about.

  • What's the name of the trad. chinese instrument that you see 2:06?

  • i'm pretty sure it's a zither

  • It's called a Zheng.

  • GuZheng

  • I love this one!:)

  • For those who'd like to play it: the chords are Am, F, F#m, F, E...
