I had a jennings nine and it did great until the plastic on the end of the firing pin came off and screwed things up , it broke the takedown button off and slammed it into my forehead , everything has its exceptions but i will never own one again
Nice vid. I've a fascination for the cheap junk guns, although I'd never own one personally for self-defense. There's just something cool about bad guns for me.. recent Detroit Lions kind of cool: some things are so bad they're good: Hi-Points, Brycos, Jimenez, Lorcin, WWII Japanese guns, etc.
Now, some guns are cheap, but are still good guns: not Detroit Lions kind of cool! If you want a cheap gun that actually works, get a Russian Makarov...4000 rounds thru mine, no malfs, not one!
@inotclaudius now I believe Makarovs ARE cool, in an eastern bloc kind of way, Mak and Tokeravs, and old CZ's. those PA63's are awesome..how about those old WW2 and WW1 revolvers, webly's and enfields, the top break type that shoot 38S&W, they are cool too. Bryco Jimenez and lorcin are all the same, literally, same company as it changed names, they are using a good design, the action is a browning design, just lousy manufacturing operation. High points are UGLY but seem to be reliable..
these bryco arms are known for jamming,we call them "mammer jammers" where im from,i own couple exact same bulky ugly pistols as a teen, they are only good for rapid fire,if you shoot it slow it will not perform,i sold em for like 40 dollars each,id only recommend these firearms to the enemy.lol. plus they are baboon butt ugly.
I was wondering if, my friend should get rid of his Jennings Nine. I will say that I think he has never shot the pistol. We however noticed that it has been stamped (by the facotry) with x's in the slide. My thinking was it was supposed to be a .380, but then decided the last minute to change it to 9mm. I was wondering if it was like a coin that has been double stamped, in that it is a collectable??? Any information would be appreciated.
jennings did get sued yes, but if you read the manual for these thinge and keep the +P and hot loads out of them, they are not too bad for plinking around with winchester white box ammo, I have a newer Jiminez 9mm with over 500 rounds through it (I have much more expensive weapons also) and I truely believe that these things are ok for the money. I do not regret mine at all and actually carry mine when Im in a harsh enviroment to keep the expensive stuff nice.
@boulevardtalonman aye! this is why I carry a keltec p11 and not a Glock or XD or M&P, too much money to get all beat up with use, but of course there are those who will argue with me.
there are, but its all a personal decision, a big secret is that just like cars, ALL firearms sold in the United States must pass certain safety standards. And just like cars, they dont all preform the same in that aspect but who cares, they are fun.
I do like the XD but not everyone can afford that either, these are MUCH better than nothing if you know how to use them
I like the kel-tec but this was just a more cost effictive option for youtube land that actually is reliable as long as its used properly and kept clean and oiled. It keeps good groups has still not failed me yet.
@boulevardtalonman the way i look at is simple, if i can two round out of that gun and keep small groups within 4 inches of each other than its can be used to defend yourself, lol
This gun may suck, but you can get these shits for $50-$100!! That's one thing that's pretty cool about it. I've been researching like crazy trying to find a REALLY CHEAP handgun and this looks about right. I don't own any handguns so it's gonna be a good start perhaps. And this nice lady I work with is giving me her S&W Sigma 9mm so I'll have two handguns. THANKS FOR THE VIDEO.
@bigstabby you would be better served with the Sigma. Some consider it junk as well, but at least it's made by a reputable manufacturer. I've always said you simply cannot find a reliable, reputable handgun for less than $200. Even a S&W Model 10 .38 Special revolver in decent shape will cost at least $200. Yes, I know you can get a Hi Point for less than that but that doesn't meet my standards of a reliable, reputable handgun. It doesn't have be a SIG, Beretta, Glock, etc.
@chrismc410 Yeah, since then, I've actually bought a S&W SD9. I've kind of conditioned myself to stay away from handguns like this. I've gotten more "serious" about it if you know what I mean. I've also got more income so I'm gonna get a Glock 23 soon. I don't ever see myself settling for these again. But I understand if someone is really REALLY dirt poor.
@bigstabby Even I was dirt poor, making minimum wage (at the time $4.15/hr) I managed to find a 9mm Norinco Tokarev with two mags for $200 that I saved for two months. A good, reliable weapon can be found if one saves and knows where to look. If I could save $200 being paid $4.15/hr, with bills, rent, et cetera, then so can someone else.
ur fuckin stupic i got my first gun wen i was 12 AS lond as the parents do there job keep weopons locked up and unloaded, teach the kid how to use properly there is no problem or felony
@1nortegrower4xiv Sorry dude, Federal law prohibits minors from possessing handguns in most circumstances. He can legally inherit the gun and hold title, but not possession. There are exceptions with parental/guardian written permission while in the act of working a farm or ranch or in the presence of an adult who can legally possess it while participating in a legal activity (like hunting).
@BriansVideoHobby i didnt mean its ok for them to carry im talking about someone said that children should be kept away from firearms like its a bad thing and as long as the parents teach the kids gun safety and keep it locked up when there not going to be using them then there is no problem or felony how am i wrong im not sayin a kid can go buy a gun and handle as they choose but its fine for a parent to buy there kid a gun thats for them to shoot hence calling it there gun
@MrDaleaaaa that was the point of 2 different shooters, each with differing proficiency. then just a little reliability check. thanks for the comments.
that was my 1st gun on my 21st put bout 250 rounds thru it the last clip I fired the firing pin and spring that u see in the back shot me in the face causing the slide to eject out and twards my face hitting the top of my head, no bullshit the damn pistol blew apart. That what I get for 100 bucks haha.
@tahmirj well lets keep it put away til your old enough to make use of it, but until then remember this.treat every gun as if were loaded, NEVER point your gun at anything you don't want to shoot, keep your finger strait and off the trigger until you are ready to fire, and keep your gun on safe until you are ready to fire. basically what it comes down to is, if you take your gun out and point at someone or thing, you better mean to pull the trigger and kill it, otherwise don't take it out.
this gun in particular is a danger, it has been recorded that the bryco M59 9MM's take down button breaks after so many rounds causing the slide to eject off, it happened to a friend, we threw it in the scap pile, they are nothing but junk.
who ever gave you that gun commited a felony and needs to be locked up, there is no way in hell i would give a 13yr old kid a handgun, not to mention this gun is now out of production and jennings was sued out of buisness due to the dangers of this firearm.
@thib7975 No problems.....yet. Give it time, man! My Dad got one of these at least a decade ago and was a gunsmith. It was taken care of and cleaned, I've taken good care of it. But, by no means will I ever depend on it to save my life. I don't even take it to the range anymore due to the numerous jams and misfires that it's prone to having. I'll stick to my Kimber 1911 Custom II.
hi-point > jennings 9mm. The c9 is actually reliable, u only clean it every 800 rounds, has a life time no questions asked warranty, great customer service, and only costs 130 dollars :D
If a gun jams its because of user error, in most cases how a shooter loads his mag or is holding the fire arm but Jennings is what most gunners would concider as a throw away gun. after about 200 rounds the gun isn't really worth anything or even in good shape.
@rollmeoh you are correct on "most of the time", but then again these junk guns are very unpredictable and poorly made, and will fail on a whim. check my other vids for better shooting weapons.
@Ronald3570 What did i say that wasn't true ? These guns are concider throw aways, and after 20-300 rounds down the pipe you have to change the recoil spring, that's why they jam up, ask any gunsmith, these guns are in the class of saturday night specials or junk guns. But I guess you wouldn't know I bet you own Davis, Jaminez, Hi point, Jennings, Bryco, Raven, Phoenix fire arms..... Try a colt, springfield, Kimber like they say you get what you pay for !!
@rollmeoh "If a gun jams its because of user error, in most cases how a shooter loads his mag or is holding the fire arm" thats entirely untrue. and i dont own a single gun you mentioned.
The big issue with these is that the take down button and mag catch are both made from zamak. You can get replacements of these from Jimenez Arms, which currently make these out of MIM.. I put about 600 rounds through my (bought from gunbroker used) Jennings, and sent in due to a squib incident, and now have a Jimenez JA-9 and currently have 300 rounds through it. It's not a BBQ gun, Oh, and I would say ergonomics are similar to that of the S&W 59
i had one n it would jam left n right when i first shot it, then i cleaned it real good and it would fire every shot.. even with a clip that didnt belong in it, i killed the first one n had to rig it up
just wait till the takedown button breaks on ya and pieces fly back and cut your face. then trying to find a replacement part. thankfully I only paid 25 bucks for mine its now used as a boat anchor.
I actually used my Jennings 9 in a personal defense situation. I got 2 shots off at on the guy beore it "stove piped" the third. Luckily the first round got him in the right arm and ribs and he ran off. But it was sketchy to say the least. You'd almost be better off loadin the clip, inserting it making the gun heavier, and then throwing the gun at your attacker. haha I was impressed with the one in the video though, must have been brand new.
@adamdean6874 all I have to say to that is..."DUDE".....tie a rope to and use it as a bludgeon, like a mace, or get a better gun, never want that to happen again, the one in the vid is off to other ownership, thank goodness, my friend has moved on to a kel tec p11, not fun to shoot but it works every time.
I've been lookin around trying to find the best parts dealer for a new trigger assembly for my Jen, Bry 9. Do you have any suggestions on where to look?
you can reset your close sights to fix your high right pull. Maybe they put out a bunch of shitty pistols but mine has jammed less than my Ruger 9mm. It is not the highest quality gun but for protection purposes I think it does its job. It likes hollow points more for some reason. Thanks for the video. HOORAAA
i shot hydroshock's threw both ..the black one didnt have a issue but the steel one did every few clips..but shooting regular rounds it never jammed.peace.
i had both black and steel models and fired hundreds of round with the black one and not one jam..cleaned it often..the steel one jamed once about every 3 or 4 clips..peace.
I have a Jennings T380. I bought it ten years ago. I have only went to the range with it about 4 times. Each time, I shot about 50 rounds and it never jammed on me. I agree about the grip not being comfortable. The trigger becomes bothersome after 50 rounds. Price range is around $120.
Jennings were not really that bad. Unfortunately do to the ammo shortage it costs more to buy a jennings and put a thousand rounds through it than to buy a used glock and run a box through it.
I had one as my first pistol.Frame cracked and firing pin broke.Jammed up very often.Looks better than a Hi Point same price. Got a refund from Bryco.Saved up a little more and bought a used G17.
Sorry to keep bothering you on the marines. I don't get to talk to any. that I don't no any marines, and the rucuter at my school doesen't say anything cause I am a freashman. But is basic tranning hard. And how long do I go over seas.
sorry to bother you. but i realy want to join the US military.
Yes boot camp is hard, physically and mentally, you need to make sure you show up as a man, what does that mean, well, you have to be willing to take full responsibility for your life and what you do, focus your mind on the goal and overcome yourself, get fit on pushups, sit ups, and running more than 3 miles.
deployments depend on you job, and what conflicts there are in the world. you can count on at least 6 months out of 18 you will be on foreign soil, could be a year, could be your station.
if you all join at the same time or within days, as in leave for boot, you will most likely be in the same platoon or what they call "series", which is usually 3 platoons doing the same things. not that you will have time to chit chat or anything, you'll only know that they exist, you will be very busy being trained very well to be a killing machine. oohrah!
so was i my MOS was an 0341, i did a year in GTMO Bay in rifle security company windward, and i finished my tour of duty in Kaneohe Bay, HI 1/3. I purchased a Yugo SKS about 9 months ago at a gun/knife show here in Lr, Arkansas.
my dad got one as his first gun for $100 from a guy at work. its hard to take down and clean, the pin dosent come out... i could be wrong, i couldnt get it out.
SemperFi Marine (0317), i actually have one of these in my gun collection... the exact same one- color and everything... i have put about 150 rounds or so thru mine with no jams... that doesn't mean it won't happen but currently it has been jam free... with a fully loaded clip it is kind of heavy but it has a nice pop, good recoil and for the price it offers protection... after all you just wanna stop the enemy.... im sure it will more than do the trick. SemperFi/ USMC
@nicspeed ha so your a "sniper" no offense man but your full of shit reason 1. you said "gun" i believe you mean weapon thats what us devil dogs refer to it as. 2. you called it a "clip" its a magazine clips were on the m1 for bold action rifles and such. 3. You consider 150 rounds to be a lot of rounds. 4. you bought a jennings nine... snipers are highly trained weapon experts such mistakes would not be made sorry but stop posing as a marine and if u were 0317 dont be such a damn boot =)
First of all if you look the beginning and end of the video, these marines even refer to it as a gun so what is your point... i was merely commenting about a GUN that i have and it takes people like you to try and decipher every little word or phrase to check for errors.... whether or not u believe that i was an 0317 is on you. i know the truth, so does my family, and so does the marine corp... if you weren't able to pass the training to become a (scout) sniper then keep trying..
Secondly you need to watch your language but then that shows how limited your vocabulary is.. i served the marine corp (honorably) from 1995-1999 so that part of my life has been finished for over 10 years. I didn't state that 150 rounds were a lot, it's just that was all the rounds i put thru it with no jams/problem.. it is plainly obvious in my comment or did you overlook that one too.. stop trying to talk down to others for the purpose of your own insecurities marine
oh and if i choose to buy a jennings 9mm then that is my choice.. there is life after the corp and i dont go around talking that same jargon anymore.. it means nothing out here.. maybe u need to recite your general orders, work on that 300 pft score.. try and get meritoriously promoted.. get some college education before you re-enter the real world.. just enjoy the video and if you have anymore comments to make then do so i'm finished with it. take care marine and have a successful tour.....
well you see it held a group in capable hands, my friend joe, who owned the gun is at the begining there, he like these "cheaper" guns, personally if I am going cheap I prefer eastern block guns like hungarian FEG, old CZ's, any MAK will do; well made, proven, and now CHEAP. yeah, kinda like the SKS. semper fi.
by the way what unit where you in, we served about the same time, I was 0341, 2/7 weapons co, 81's plt. also did a year in security forces.
high points are no up grade to this gun accept its lighter,i owened a jennings paid 150 for it ,it jams up alot but when i switch to hollow point and kept it oiled it shot fine
personally I pretty much "hate" the high points and jennings both, if I am going to by an inexpensive gun it will be a eastern block type, say the PA63 or any older CZ, cz82 or 52, good reliable and proven.
there are sooooo many mods that can be done to the jennings nine to make it more reliable. But what would have been cool to see would have been the jennings 40. That is a bad ass gun.... Just kidding,
great review, and great shooting for a decent at best gun.
i can tell by the way that you where trying to chamber the next round you know nothing about guns lol so your review is trash to me...

Try polishing the ramp getting the paint off. Fluff and buff the breech mouth etc

It's not a BBQ gun, Oh, and I would say ergonomics are similar to that of the S&W 59

just wait till the takedown button breaks on ya and pieces fly back and cut your face. then trying to find a replacement part. thankfully I only paid 25 bucks for mine its now used as a boat anchor.

I actually used my Jennings 9 in a personal defense situation. I got 2 shots off at on the guy beore it "stove piped" the third. Luckily the first round got him in the right arm and ribs and he ran off. But it was sketchy to say the least. You'd almost be better off loadin the clip, inserting it making the gun heavier, and then throwing the gun at your attacker. haha I was impressed with the one in the video though, must have been brand new.
adamdean6874 1 year ago
@adamdean6874 all I have to say to that is..."DUDE".....tie a rope to and use it as a bludgeon, like a mace, or get a better gun, never want that to happen again, the one in the vid is off to other ownership, thank goodness, my friend has moved on to a kel tec p11, not fun to shoot but it works every time.

I've been lookin around trying to find the best parts dealer for a new trigger assembly for my Jen, Bry 9. Do you have any suggestions on where to look?
sharmon33 1 year ago
@sharmon33 I've never looked for parts for these, I'll have to look into that, you could try brownells, they may have some.
smithjacusmc 1 year ago
you can reset your close sights to fix your high right pull. Maybe they put out a bunch of shitty pistols but mine has jammed less than my Ruger 9mm. It is not the highest quality gun but for protection purposes I think it does its job. It likes hollow points more for some reason. Thanks for the video. HOORAAA

i shot hydroshock's threw both ..the black one didnt have a issue but the steel one did every few clips..but shooting regular rounds it never jammed.peace.
philthyco 1 year ago
i had both black and steel models and fired hundreds of round with the black one and not one jam..cleaned it often..the steel one jamed once about every 3 or 4 clips..peace.

i had the same color also a black one and both jammed, the nickle plated one firing pin broke so i wouldnt rely on these guns.

I have a Jennings T380. I bought it ten years ago. I have only went to the range with it about 4 times. Each time, I shot about 50 rounds and it never jammed on me. I agree about the grip not being comfortable. The trigger becomes bothersome after 50 rounds. Price range is around $120.

MrBland55 1 year ago
Jennings were not really that bad. Unfortunately do to the ammo shortage it costs more to buy a jennings and put a thousand rounds through it than to buy a used glock and run a box through it.
PUREAAMERICAN 2 years ago
I had one as my first pistol.Frame cracked and firing pin broke.Jammed up very often.Looks better than a Hi Point same price. Got a refund from Bryco.Saved up a little more and bought a used G17.

Yes boot camp is hard, physically and mentally, you need to make sure you show up as a man, what does that mean, well, you have to be willing to take full responsibility for your life and what you do, focus your mind on the goal and overcome yourself, get fit on pushups, sit ups, and running more than 3 miles.
deployments depend on you job, and what conflicts there are in the world. you can count on at least 6 months out of 18 you will be on foreign soil, could be a year, could be your station.
smithjacusmc 2 years ago
You were in the usmc I planning to go there so is some of the people at my school. Do you think I will see them.
870Remington12 2 years ago
if you all join at the same time or within days, as in leave for boot, you will most likely be in the same platoon or what they call "series", which is usually 3 platoons doing the same things. not that you will have time to chit chat or anything, you'll only know that they exist, you will be very busy being trained very well to be a killing machine. oohrah!

so was i my MOS was an 0341, i did a year in GTMO Bay in rifle security company windward, and i finished my tour of duty in Kaneohe Bay, HI 1/3. I purchased a Yugo SKS about 9 months ago at a gun/knife show here in Lr, Arkansas.

SemperFi/ USMC
nicspeed 2 years ago
@nicspeed ha so your a "sniper" no offense man but your full of shit reason 1. you said "gun" i believe you mean weapon thats what us devil dogs refer to it as. 2. you called it a "clip" its a magazine clips were on the m1 for bold action rifles and such. 3. You consider 150 rounds to be a lot of rounds. 4. you bought a jennings nine... snipers are highly trained weapon experts such mistakes would not be made sorry but stop posing as a marine and if u were 0317 dont be such a damn boot =)
Shredder011 2 years ago
First of all if you look the beginning and end of the video, these marines even refer to it as a gun so what is your point... i was merely commenting about a GUN that i have and it takes people like you to try and decipher every little word or phrase to check for errors.... whether or not u believe that i was an 0317 is on you. i know the truth, so does my family, and so does the marine corp... if you weren't able to pass the training to become a (scout) sniper then keep trying..
nicspeed 2 years ago
Secondly you need to watch your language but then that shows how limited your vocabulary is.. i served the marine corp (honorably) from 1995-1999 so that part of my life has been finished for over 10 years. I didn't state that 150 rounds were a lot, it's just that was all the rounds i put thru it with no jams/problem.. it is plainly obvious in my comment or did you overlook that one too.. stop trying to talk down to others for the purpose of your own insecurities marine
nicspeed 2 years ago
oh and if i choose to buy a jennings 9mm then that is my choice.. there is life after the corp and i dont go around talking that same jargon anymore.. it means nothing out here.. maybe u need to recite your general orders, work on that 300 pft score.. try and get meritoriously promoted.. get some college education before you re-enter the real world.. just enjoy the video and if you have anymore comments to make then do so i'm finished with it. take care marine and have a successful tour.....

@Shredder011 .... how is that PFT going "boot"
nicspeed 1 year ago
well you see it held a group in capable hands, my friend joe, who owned the gun is at the begining there, he like these "cheaper" guns, personally if I am going cheap I prefer eastern block guns like hungarian FEG, old CZ's, any MAK will do; well made, proven, and now CHEAP. yeah, kinda like the SKS. semper fi.
by the way what unit where you in, we served about the same time, I was 0341, 2/7 weapons co, 81's plt. also did a year in security forces.
smithjacusmc 2 years ago
high points are no up grade to this gun accept its lighter,i owened a jennings paid 150 for it ,it jams up alot but when i switch to hollow point and kept it oiled it shot fine
dlt215 2 years ago
personally I pretty much "hate" the high points and jennings both, if I am going to by an inexpensive gun it will be a eastern block type, say the PA63 or any older CZ, cz82 or 52, good reliable and proven.
smithjacusmc 2 years ago
not bad for the price if u hit at center mass or close to it u will be fine, a cheap gun is better than no gun
mmlunchbox92 2 years ago
well it was joe's gun, he has since moved on to a high point, not sure if that will be an upgrade, we'll try that one next I guess.
smithjacusmc 2 years ago
what guy that isnt queer or a liber doesnt like guns i mean really all guns kick ass
ionmanpaintball 2 years ago
there are sooooo many mods that can be done to the jennings nine to make it more reliable. But what would have been cool to see would have been the jennings 40. That is a bad ass gun.... Just kidding,
great review, and great shooting for a decent at best gun.
