I'm watching this on Netflix right now & I bought the 30 anniversary on Blu Ray. If you are a fan of this movie I say buy the Blu Ray. LOOKS great in HD.

Visual effects today have become the REASON films get made. I don't know about you but to me CGI has become so completely over used and over done. Virtually none of it wows me anymore. Even big effects driven films. It all has a "sameness" to it now. Even if it is very well done it all looks "Similar" to me. Because effects houses frequently all use similar programs. Its like 50 people baking a cake with the same ingredients.

These FX are beautiful, unique, mysterious. ART!!

Masterpiece sci fi filmaking, i agree the music doesnt suit it. and considering its a tribute video, could do with being a bit longer, especially for this film. I got the special edition dvd, and did'nt know weather, Blueray does the effects justice, cus i heard its not much better on Blueray, but effects were really good for the time this came out.

Great point. I would, however, like to see a 2008 version of 'Fire in the Sky'. That movie was so goddamn creepy and if the effects were better and the storyline was better it would be scary to the point of not wanting to go outside at night EVER!

I would personally shoot anyone who remakes this movie. It is a classic AS IS. I am more than sick of revisionist film making. The visual effects still hold up today. YES the odd shot is subpar. But on the whole it is still an impressive movie. And I am SOoo tired of film makers of today hitching their cynical wagons to classics of years ago to attempt to get some career credibility

From the descriptions I heard of the aliens in the original script about ET, I wonder if their designs got recycled as the mutant Mogwai in Gremlins. The designer was VERY pissed off the designs got scrapped after he spent a lot f time and money on it.

Plus a sequel to ET was planned showing other researchers of his race were behind the famous cattle mutilations.

i do agree with you. It worth a purchase. I think theatre edition is the best version, although the definitive cut is quite good, without the inside the mother ship scene -which spoiled the end at the special edition-.

This is actually a real truth event, They wont said publicly but if you do your research you will find the truth of this movie. The govermen chance bodies of humans and aliens. I dont actually what happend next but I now that it happend. For my resorces they chance 60 humands for 60 aliens and they weare going to bring them back on some time of like a year for studing.

He is Right this movie is base on truth events. We have never been along every thing points to it science and relgion. around 800,000 children went missing last year and about the same again this here. This isn't all because of Child molesters.
