  • What do you use to capture the video? I'd really like to put some of my stuff on youtube aswell :D but all i have is fraps at the moment and it only captures the perspective windows etc. :s

  • Nice! now go and finish your ultra-awesaum PS3/XboX360/PC game... make nice shaders :P Keep it rollin

video is awesome! but i use 3d smax

  • AAAAAAANNDDD here come the OneyNG fans...

  • @azaman1000 You're so fucking right.

  • For fuck sake, why don't they combine Max and Maya already?!

  • what is the easiest way to put a maya project and texture into a zip file for e-mail?

    anyone.

  • Hi there. Your rigging is great but animation is poor. I'm an animator and I need good rigs like yours for my animation reel. Do you want to give me your rigs and instead use my reel to promote your rigging? Of course I'll credit your name in my reel as well. It's basically exchanging abilities. email me if you're happy with it to: info@caspianfilms.co.uk

  • what the song???

  • wowwwwwwwwwwww...the rig ..specially dat grumpy guy...was jus aaaaaammmmaaazziiingg...can dis be attained in max too?? m really very very weak in rigging..in i wanna do it now..after seeing dis masterpiece..!! great work :D

  • I am fifteen now, in Belgium, I'm extremely interested in 3D art. So much that I would love to do it for a living. If I wanted, could I, after finishing high school. Come to VFS straightaway? Or would I need a degree of some sort? English is also not my native language as you will probably notice in the way I write. I'm wondering if that is a problem at all. Another wuestion of mine was if you had a course in particles and fluid effects as that is what I am most interested in. Regards, Ziggy.

  • @ZiggyFX Hi! That is great that you are interested in 3D. In answer to your first question, yes you would be able to join VFS right after high school. Our minimum requirement is that students either be 19 years old, or have completed high school. There is a minimum English language requirement, but you do not have to be a native speaker. You can find more information on that at vfs(dot)com/admission under "Application Requirements".

  • @ZiggyFX To answer your last question, you can find more information on what is offered in our 3D Animation & Visual Effects program at vfs(dot)com/3D. We would also recommend getting in contact with one of our Admissions Advisors as you get closer to applying. They can answer all sorts of questions about the language requirements and program specifics. They can be reached online at vfs(dot)com/startnow. Thanks!

  • @ZiggyFX Hey, I dont know if how much money your parents have or have much experience you have in 3D but if you want so start 3D i would rather suggest a school in belgium. For example the HEAJ (Haute École Albert Jaquard) which offers 3D as one of their main branches. The language wouldn't be a problem and the inscription fee is really nice (300 € - one year).

Actually I'm a student there (my second year) and its a perfect start to get into 3D without having so much risk!

  • @KahGor I'll look into it. It would certainly be more economical. My parents aren't exactly rich. I guess the language is french? How is the school?

    thanks!

  • @ZiggyFX you like working 12 hours a day everyday including weekends? then go for it.

  • awasome work!

  • I CANT GET MY 3D model to be rigged the right way and you can manage to do all that?

    ...

  • Thanks!

    :-) nice to hear that!!

    Maybe, we'll see us then^^;-)

  • Very good!

  • What do you need to get into VFS?

Like the cost, perquisites, age, experience, prior knowledge?

  • @luckyazian13 You can find a lot of that information on our website at vfs(dot)com/admissions. Cost and prerequisites will vary by program, but the minimum age to enroll in a full time program at VFS is 19, or after finishing high school. Prior knowledge will also depend a little on which program you are interested in, but we have had students come to VFS with a variety of backgrounds - some are just getting started on their careers, while others come with more experience. Thanks!

  • @VancouverFilmSchool Would you also take somebody from other countries? Maybe Germany?

  • @corey1845 Definitely. We have a large community of international students who come to VFS. We would recommend getting in touch with one of our Admissions Advisors. They will be able to help you with information on coming to Vancouver as an international students. You can contact them through the online form at vfs(dot)com/speaktoanadvisor. Thanks!

  • @luckyazian13 I went to vfs for their 3d animation & visual effects program some years ago. Its INSANELY expensive first of all. Basically, they will take anyone, as long as you can fork out the cash. Age, education, and prior experience don't matter. Sure, they ask for a portfolio, but it means nothing. Bottom line, if you can afford it, you can go.

  • Comment removed

  • Wow, amazing weight painting on the arms when they move up and turn on the wrist. Also, on the frog, wonderful jiggle effect. Cheers!

  • you are really good in animations....

  • I loved the creepy frog thing.

  • whats the song???

  • hmmm...i wish i could learn from those ppl.Yet, i changed to programmer.:-)

  • WTH is that, a frog?!?!

  • @HawkstarOfRiverclan Wouldn't like to have it in my pond, that's for sure. Awesome... :D

  • nice ;)

  • super

  • What a hideous model the first one was. But made very good. XD

  • people that know how to rigg is most likely to find a job, its tough to get a good rigg on a complex character

  • These are perfect models for a zombie like game add the blood and gore and your good :D

  • Song plz?

  • @Elliotvisualeffects I have a girlfriend and sex.

  • @boxkommentator: I'm a nerd !

  • artists like you are the wavefront of today and tomorrow's internet video talents, already here.

    great work! never quit!

    cheers,

    Reid

  • that music fits.

  • the fat guy has balls but no deek

  • You would notice and comment on the balls.

  • whats this song called?

  • Oh that makes more sense, I couldn't see the sense in developing two seperate programs!

  • nice man

  • Why does autodesk have two simailar programs?

  • wich programs are you talking about?

  • Maya and 3ds max

  • itx realy fantastic, did u use maya software to do tis stuf, i mean to do muscle rigging..........

N, at last ru working any were.............

  • wot software was used to make this?

  • did u use the a muscle rig to get the body mesh moving so realisticlly, or is that all just a bone rig??

    awesome stuff!!

  • very nice, but uh.... what the hell is that thing supposed to be?

  • what is the music name?

  • ребятки умеют мускулы встраивать, и ведь это здорово

  • C4D is better to rig with

  • Comment removed

  • ok, just one question ... as the song is called background??

  • i wish i knew how to do stuff like this... or even what program they use i have 3ds max for freelance stuff but i want to create stuff like this.... that worlverine character is cool too but he is bald hahahah

  • 3Ds Max can make stuff like this. Look into proper deformation topology, skinning, and rigging, then practice until you rock.

  • Very true...

  • 3d max can you anithing!

  • Software used @ 1:42 looks like Autodesk Maya...

  • it is maya , i love it :)

  • Hella cool

  • I agree, no 3 program is the best. I personally likes maya the most but that's mostly because it's the program I tried out at first. I did try 3D max once but it confused me because I was so used to maya.

  • Those are some great looking models! I would find a good animator to animate them though. The walk cycle is kind of bland... you need to show people what that model can really do!

  • Awesome, rigging is not really one of my best skills.

  • Programs are NOT! best. The best is users. If u know max , xsi or even blender!

    u can create same rig.

  • @cRaSHaCk

    I preferer Max

  • @cRaSHaCk blender is just as powerful as max or maya

  • Liked your muscle groups on the first model and the painted weights on them thought they looked really good the neck waits do need help though

  • Tztz u know not much or ? :D

Why is XSI now Autodesk ? Yes because its better then 3dsmax and now he can say XSI is "Autodesk". Know that dude ;-)

  • My god, no program is the best, it all depends on your personal preferences. Just because you happen to like XSI doesn't mean it's the best 3d program evarty evar. Grow up will ya....

  • Yeah, Blender has gone to great lengths to keep up with programs like 3ds max and Maya. Though alot of Game Studios use either 3ds max, Maya or XSi because they have been around longer.. the company's simply got used to it in their pipeline. Seen some sick stuff in Blender aswel ;)

    Toob

  • It's true that 3ds max can do all these things you see here in this amazing reel. But maya has better surface polygon modeling abilities. 3Ds max owns maya in architecture. But, for the record, Zbrush was used for these models aswell ;) And Zbrush has, next to sculpting, amazing UV layout options build in aswel.

    Sincerely,

    Toob

  • you can also model in 3ds then use a program called blender to do fk ik stuff and it can rig nicely too and blender's modeling/gaming capabilities make a very useful program

    BlndrAnim8r

  • autodesk should combine max, maya and xsi something really badass will come out!

  • they should call it mayax.

  • LOLzz

  • No, they shouldn't, because they'd lose a lot of customers that way. I know I wouldn't buy it, because I hate Max and XSI's interfaces and tools, and love Maya's, so, for me, combining them would be fixing something that wasn't broken. I would, however, like it a lot if they could just make Maya completely stable... <<

  • i like the frog

  • in 3d industry is very specific..here his task is setup the rigging for the 3d models. rigging is the hardest and tricky parts. need to study alot about muscle deformation. well done. till now i couldnt rig a nice character. keep it up

  • thats an amazing rig

  • NICE WORK...good rigger YAAAAAR

  • where can we find a program to make a animatoin like that

  • XSI or Maya is what they use at VFS.

  • agree) Rigging - good)

but the demo itself looks a bit... don't know doesn't look great) it's okey) but just because of the animations and screen captures being a bit boring... IMO try speeding up the whole video ;) it should solve the problem ;)

    Good luck ;)

  • You seem like a skilled rigger. I think that animation isn't your strongest side, but the rigs are very nice.

  • i'm pretty sure he's just a rigger and is showing his flawless rigs rather than his animation technique

  • nice work a treat to see your work seema

  • nice but i think the troll needs a little bit of work in the walkcycle

  • why does the troll have a blob penis

  • why do you want to see a non-blob troll penis?

  • 1:39 lol !

  • AMAZING! 5*

  • One thing I hate doing it is skinning! Been using 3Ds Max for about 2 years. I see they are using Maya at VFS. Not sure it it's easier or whatever by using Maya. But great job. I would have liked to see more of the characters hands.

  • I think they use XSI too.

  • i agree with you there

any type of rigging and characters is easiest in Maya though. Maya is MADE for characters

Max is made for architecture, both can be used for just about anything, but those are main features

They use VFS Studio (new tools for 3ds max) VFSM (new tools for Maya) and VFSX (new tools for XSI) These are obviously not there actual names, i made them up, but that is basically what they give...

  • Maya is one of the best programs for character animation and scripting there is from what I've seen. It doesn't stand as strong as 3ds Max when it comes to modeling (particularly now with the new stuff in 3ds Max 2010)

  • can you model with 3ds max and rig with maya?

that would be the perfect conmbination then ^^

  • absolutely. I'm gonna learn Maya later. 3Ds Max is superior in modeling (particularly now because of the 2010 polyboost integration) and Maya in animation. I've seen many people make stuff in max and animate it in Maya. :P

  • what i like to do is do basic form in maya, then transfer it into z-brush for amazing detail, then bring it into maya and add that detail and animate ^^

  • yeah! i've already got 3ds max 2010, just messing around with it by now, maybe one day i'll get maya!

  • pretty sure the school wont restrict you from using 3ds max from modeling but you'll be taught with maya.

  • hi,its really cool but i wanna know hw would u able to manage d skinning????do reply

  • i like that froggy monster! ^^

  • amazing btw

  • really theres rigging reels lol I rock at rigging

  • thats incredible: wut software do they use?

  • Its Maya

  • Well, that's it. I'm moving to Vancouver!

  • Mari seryer,,,to ena website?

  • how did u do it

  • lol imagine someone made that with pivot stickfigure animator bawhahahahaha

  • wow.. great enveloping.. i really need to try this out.

  • can you get those characters into a game? :>

  • Till this day I find this one of the best reels i've came across, Ofc I love VFS and I know what they're capable of :) Too bad they don't have study facilities here in Holland. 3rd year in Gamedesign myself ^^, anyways.. Keep up the good work!

  • this is Maya

  • program please xD

  • maya

  • animate it to a film :D

  • these guys are greats! i'm too distant for going at the VFS!! snif..snif

    congratulations man!

  • were do you make and get this

  • good work dude....

  • second one the best

  • very nice SONG!

    hehehe

  • wich programm is it?

  • is the song from warrior within

  • do we go through this stuff in the Digital Character Animation program?

Cuz i'm already taking 3D Animation and VFX and am specializing in Visual Effects... but i also want to get more into modelling and animation later on.

  • what's the song name :p?

  • That is some excellent rigging and animation, could you please give me some advice on where I can rig my model properly? Is it possible to rig grouped objects or parented objects to a model or does it have to be all one mesh?

  • Lol I wanna work With valve They wont me to download and buy all there require ments to Be a valve employey

  • That's awesome man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Cool!

  • what program/s did u use in creating this?

i want to learn it too..

  • VFS have their own movie program :)

  • I'm sure that they have some special plugins for them self but i guess the simple maya and 3ds max can do the same. the one who uses it is more imortant

  • yeah your right.

  • so awesome. Beautiful rigs.

  • hay this looks like my grandfather XD

  • Awesome stuff. I got 3d studio max and I know the basic interface but can anyone reccomend tutorials to learn modeling/rigging/ and animation for characters? I dont know where to get started.

  • where most people seem to start is the joan of arc tutorial to learn the basics of a human character and go from there.

  • omg! thats soo hot! i just got 3DS Max9 but, dunno how to use it.. :(

  • nice frogy :)

  • im a student at ai and i gotta say this inpires my modeling rigging habits ;0 thanks mang

  • Amazing animation, I love the monster frog.

  • The Sci-fi frog model was by far the best in my opinion, Great work.

  • very nice

  • Great animation! What application was used?

  • vfs

  • Your saying vfs has their own 3d applications?

  • No, they used Maya. Always have a look at the tags before commenting like that=)

  • Oh didn't see that. Thanks :)

I thought you could only make models in maya, didn't know it animated also.

  • Everything here can be done with 3ds max...

  • Mmm, true, but the Maya interface allows for much simpler animation and rigging.

  • good:)
