  • I get the following error messeage, internal error: installing package failed

I tried several times and get the same message

  • Ive got a HTC Wildfire with Froyo 2.2 and i want to root it with wildpuzzle. I followed each step given in your tutorial (Except from the HTC Sync thingy, since i cant find any downloads of HTC Sync for Wildfire) but when i start unrevoked3 it wont find my device. When my phone is in the HBOOTUSB thing, my PC does say that it is connected, but when the phone is on, all i can find is ADB under Other Devices. Anyone who can help?

  • success! but my experience was WAYYYY different from your tutorial!! you seriously need to update this! i thought i bricked my phone twice! for anyone reading this comment, DON'T TOUCH YOUR PHONE(as long as you've already selected HBOOT USB when you installed hboot drivers) AND WAIT UNTIL THE SCREEN SAYS DONE! then you'll have a black and green screen on your phone, just select REBOOT NOW by pressing the power button, it should be selected already.

  • THERE IS NO HBOOT OPTION ON HTC ARIA

  • keep getting internal error :S

  • Please help i installed the hboot drivers but when i plug up my phone unrevoked never starts doing anything just says waiting for device. Please help

  • please Help me, i have EVO 4G, when i power the phone it will freeze on EVO 4G screen then reboot again. just stuck at EVO 4G screen, i have tied hard reset. its still same thing please help me out. thanks

  • I get no error, nothing happens when I plugged in my phone. My software number is 3.70.651.1. Is it my phone or my computer?

  • If you get error: "Failed to root. Is your firmware too new?"

then I can't help you, sorry. look for methods on downgrading the software on your phone, on google or XDA Developers forum, or just wait till they will hack the new software.

I red this in the description in this vid: /watch?v=XZmNcyE0km8

  • will this work on the new Htc 4G

  • will this work on the new Htc 4G

  • Will you lose all the data and information on your phone when you root it, or will it be exactly the same?

  • AWESOME, thanks you! Couldn't be easier.

  • so a lot of people said it didnt work. are their any that did?

  • hey..nice work..but i follow all ur steps on htc desire 2.2 bootloader.93...unrevoked gets my phone ,..it boots but only once and home screen appears....need help...what wrong m i doin??

  • I did not have to do the hboot step ( but then i just got my phone 6 hours ago.) so now.. how do i get rid of all those annoying sprint apps?

  • Yeah , cool and it almost worked , but IF I AM IN THE MENU where you can move by volume up and down and power to select , then i haven't got ''HBOOT USB'' Why?

    Please help , i'll subscribe :D

  • @TobyMacNewsboys Please help me !

  • @TobyMacNewsboys Please help me ! I want to gain access to the root , because i want to make my screen ''bigger''' with LCDDensity , and that's using the root access . DAMN! But is there ANY OTHER WAY I can make my resolution bigger? Because some games are too big for HTC Wildfire and i've got Wildfire. Example : Assassin's Creed , Need for Speed : Shift , UNO , and many otheerrsss :S:S:S SO PLEASE HAAAALP MEEE!!!

Definitly will sub if that works ;D

  • So Do I Have To Download HBOOT To My Evo That Has 2.2 Or What..

  • SO IM HEARING THAT the "unrevoked" is currently not working on the LATEST NEW FIRMWARE recently released for the evo? ---- what firmware, base version, kernal version WILL THIS root work?

im so afraid to do this, being that its my only phone i have

  • Using a Wildfire, followed all steps from your HBOOT video, HTC sync isn't installed, USB debugging is active, USB plugged in and set to charge only. When I open reflash_package.exe, I don't get the small evo3 box that you do at 2:20, it goes straight to the larger window that you get at 2:44 (if that's relevant in any way) and then just says "waiting for device" in the bottom left corner.

Im stuck here, waiting for a device, any help would be appreciated.

  • @KonVay1 Do i need some kind of bootloader installed? Because when I AM IN THE MENU where you can move by volume up and down and power to select , then i haven't got ''HBOOT USB''

  • @TobyMacNewsboys Can't tell if trolling.. o.o Nevertheless, load up the menu in question with the USB already connected at both ends, if HBOOT hasn't become HBOOT USB, unconnect your USB, reconnect and you should be sorted.

  • Tried running this. Got the message is your hardware too new? When I boot into the boot loader, I get S Off. However, if I try to go into recovery, I get the triangle with a red exclamation point. On reboot, I get the same red exclamation point. I pull the battery, reinsert and hold the VOL UP + PWR and it resets and I can boot back into normal mode. Baseband 2.15.00.11.19; S/W 3.70.651.1; Kernel 2.6.32.17

  • @gtrainriders Dude, you have to DL and flash a custom recovery image to be able to boot into a recovery image. ha ha. go to the market and search for Rom Manager, install it, open it and select "Flash clockwork Recovery," or whatever it says that is similar. once you do that, and it finishes you will be able to boot into recovery. it also has the option to flash AmonRa Recovery too, but you have to do the clockwork one first to be able to use rom manager to do the other one. good luck

  • I wish I would have watched this one first instead of spending an hour in DOS. The newest unrevoked v.3.32 does everything for you in 3 minutes!!!

  • were is the power bottom?

  • Hey douche-bag, why don't you mention in your video that it only works with the newer version of OSX?? Fail.

  • @ajspice why don't you stfu

  • I too have the same problem am trying to root the HTC desire running 2.2 and it goes through the steps fine.. says root sucessful then fails.. Siting unable to unlock NAND or if I use a slightly older version of unrevoked it says Failed to flash recovery.

  • uhm can you please pm me some more info? Like what it exactly can do? Can you easily uninstall it, and after THAT (uninstalling) can I just go to the fabric if something is wrong and have my warranty?

And how big is the change that my phone would die from this?XD

  • stupid question... when you root youre phone do you install a custom ROM or after the root you have access to install the ROM that you like?

  • @dan1996DO never mind i found out ;)

  • i did it already i used someone elses vid and it worked unrevoked wouldnt work it said somnething like misc not found

  • mine says, "waiting for root ... (safe to restart if this doesnt work" stays on that for ages and then says failed to root.

im on wildfire running 2.2. what do i do for the root to be successful?

  • how do you unroot

  • did not work. Tried multiply times. Unrevoked keeps saying "failed to flash recovery image" HTC EVO 2.2

  • @corereaction001 keep trying.

  • @corereaction001 i think u need drivers .in desire , 2 driver wr needed

  • dont you need hboot driers which i dont seem to be able to install on windows 7

  • @TheRogueMonk I installed them just fine on Win 7

  • hi there im running on the wildfire 2.2 and it was all going well untill the part where it said running root

it failed and said is your firmware too new?

    yeaaaa so i need help

  • @rish134 in stead of rebooting in the clockworkMOD, it just boots to the standard screen, and in the unrevoked3 programm I also get this "error.. blablabla is your firmware too new?" So does anyone have a solution for this?? please let me know if you do!

  • @smason16 try holding VOL DOWN when its booting

  • @djR3Z I was on too new of software but they released one that fixed it. thanks tho.

  • theres no choice when i get there y?

  • how long does it take?

  • I cannot seem to get passed the HBOOT USB / SD Checking... part.

It just seems to ask me if i want to "reboot" press up for yes and down for no. Seems like the HBOOT USB option doesn't want to come up. I did all that you said but to no avail. Is there a fix?

    (I'm on a MAC computer)

  • thank you ever so much i have a htc wildfire and i rooted it thatnks ever so much

    your the best

  • Hey DjR3Z.. I did exactly what you reference to..and I am a noob at this..but the fact that once it's rooted..doesn't mean I can over clock the phone? It's still stuck on 998mhz.

  • I'm on Android 2.1, will this method still work?

  • 'HBoot USB' is not an option on my Wildfire, why is it not letting me select this option!?

  • do you have any idia how to root a evo 4g with the new software 3.30 please help

  • please help... did all the steps two times... same thing happen both times, when the phone when to reboot to get to the rooted screen. (like at 3:41 sec in your video), it when to that dam sprint boot screen.... the phone was not rooted... Did I miss something?

  • @rohityoyo1 did you download the drivers needed

  • Could you do one for the Desire HD? =)

  • so what do I do if once i installed the drivers evoked doesnt recongnize the phone??!?

  • I get

    E: unsupported Radio version

    E: update failed. check /sdcard/soff.log

    Installation aborted

What did I do wrong? Any ideas?

  • @Bigpoppa00 i got the same errors, i rebooted and it seems to be rooted... i have superuser permission access now.. and was able to do a nandroid backup.. im hoping it worked anyway..

  • @Bigpoppa00 I am receiving the same message. Not sure what the deal is... Are you using a pc or mac? I'm using a pc and am pretty sure the drivers were installed fine...about to try a mac to see if there is any difference. Hey, do you still happen to have the SU icon? I do so it makes it even more weird...

  • @JDeFran11 Im sure if I try it Ill get the same error again. But I downloaded Wireless Tether which is for rooted phones only...and it works perfectly. So, somehow it is rooted even though you get the msg. Try downloading an app for rooted phones and see if it works. If it does, then you're good to go. I'm now trying to figure out how to get rid of all the Sprint Crapware on the phone

  • @Bigpoppa00 For getting rid of the Sprint Crapware you can download a rom that has them removed. For rookies like myself, I have read it is best to use the app rom manager in the market to install whatever rom you want. I tried to use titanium backup but it says I am not rooted, wifi tether loaded but my laptop wouldn't connect...

  • Hi DJ can you tell me if this will work with

    Android Version: 2.2

    Build Number: 3.30.651.3

    Software Number: 3.30.651.3

Will it work with these specs?

I got it to a certain point then it just times out

Thanks for any help you can provide

  • How can I unroot to have "normal" system again?

  • how do you unroot now

  • Hey, first off thanks for the useful info. Im trying to root my evo for the first time with unrevoked 3.22. My evo is 2.2 It completes the rooting process from unrevoked after selecting HBOOT. Once the black screen comes (3:42) I get several errors: "E: Unsupported Radio version E: Update Failed check /sdcard/soff.log. E: Error in /data/local/unrevoked-foreverz.zip (status 42) Installation Aborted Please open rom manager to report Issue. " Any ideas on why this might be happening? Thanks
  • @vitorcui I do not have any sync software installed or anything that could interfere with the process.

  • @vitorcui Im getting the same msg. Have you gotten a solution to this msgs?

  • @Bigpoppa00 No :( i also sent the author a msg but no answer. And no forums have such info either. :/

  • @vitorcui Well, even though I got the error it looks like root worked. Try installing an app for rooted phones.

  • @Bigpoppa00 I installed Titanium Backup and fails at root check.

  • hey nice vid...
