i would belive it , i've done 134 with my 4.3 astro but it took 3 miles till i reached that and when i arrived that 3 miles stretch i was doing 73 mph, way to go astro
I can't wait to built a LT1 for my Astro, then with a built 4L80 and 3.73 posi I think it will be pretty quick. Very nice van man! Mine is a gen 1 too! 1994 EXT two-tone blue right now with the 4.3L CPI Vortec V6. It ain't the fastest thing, but I shut up a few Hondas and Nissans with that thing. I can't wait to build the LT1 though so I can take on some more compotition like my friends in their Mustang, Camaro, El Camino, and especially my friends 87' Cutlass with a 403.
I just had a 3rd gen Camaro with the 305 h.o. sure it was fast in a sporty way but I just traded it for a 87 Astro with a mild 350.Faster,more comfort, way more room and its a sleeper except soon I'll be changing the duel turbo mufflers to flowmaster 44s or maybe the dynomax turbos. In Jegs theres a brand called Pypes that sound decent. I really like the 44 series sound but its getting a little to common but even with that sound people will be like,"is there a hotrod riding next to that van"
Astro's a great van, I'm just curious how the hell you got that engine in there! There's hardly any room to work under that hood as it is, and if you want to change your spark plugs, you've gotta take your whole damn dash board out. Props for figuring it out.
You Americans don't know how well off you are with your gas prices...in Germany we have to pay 1.25 € for a LITER of normal pump gas (91octane), which is about 5€ or 6.6$ a gallon.
So don't complain about how bad life hit you ;)
300$ for fuel per month is, for many people at least, normality here in good ol Germany.
@KingSams0n Yeah, well on this side of the pond, "normal pump gas" is only 87 octane. You pay more for better gas. Granted, our 91 octane doesn't cost that much, but the only people who run it are those who have an expensive car that needs it. And they usually don't sip it.
That is truly the coolest thing I have ever seen! I've got a 1978 G10 short wheelbase van, had the original 350 taken out to 385 (.040 over block with stroker crank). The engine's got full roller valvetrain and Edelbrock 180cc intake heads. It's fun blowing Cayenne Turbos out of the water (I'm 600 pounds lighter and make more torque, they never see it coming).
I'm hanging on to it despite the gas prices, just don't drive it often. Fast vans rule!
that's retarded... putting a V8 in a big minivan
