how do you see where the "null point" is on a mic? i see a little figure on some mics but its difficult to know if its the rounded side that is the "null point" or where it goes in a bit.
one thing that helped me with that noise in the basement was turning to a cheaper mic.....lol....that $100 handheld mic by shure came in handy......the expensive mic picked up too much of the slightest sounds.....but DON'T follow me if you serious with it......i'm far from an engineer....lol

You wont hear that noise if your Mic is in a Sound Booth. And also if you have ENOUGH SoundProofing!

That's very true, IF you are in a home studio that has been PROPERLY soundproofed or you are lucky enough to have an isolated sound-booth.
Unfortunately, many people don't have that option, or they are still learning.
You have probably put a lot of care and thought into preparing your recording space since you are aware of the dangers.
