  • The golf gtd is beautiful, I just hope they bring them to the north american market soon there are a lot of VW diesel fans that would love to get there hands on one. Great video

  • @SheaClayFarms1 : Yeah, that's what I'm getting from the comments...But isn't diesel more expensive in the states than gas ? In germany we drive diesels because diesel is cheaper and thanks to the better fuel economy, you can save money when you drive a certrain amount of miles per year...

If I ever get in contact with a VW-guy, I will let them know that you guys in the states want the diesels too. Greetings from germany

  • i am suprised at the sportiness of this golf, considering it's a diesel. I wish they would make the dash completely digital and drop the analogue dials all together, but that's just my taste.

  • I live in Ohio, and bought a 2010 Golf 2dr TDI hatchback last October. I have 40,000 miles on it now, and I'm getting almost 50 Miles Per Gallon. Just last week, I smoked a 4.7Litre Mustang, and he was so pissed I beat him off the line, he kept trying to pass me, until I got up to about 90mph in 4th gear, and still had 2 more gears to go. He gave up when we hit 145mph. I had it pegged out at the Airport at 160, it almost redlined. I wish it was all wheel drive, so I could hook up better.

  • @tafkan77 : Haha, that's an awesome story ! The guys face must have been priceless :)

Many people underrate these TDI-cars, but they have the torque to surprise you.

Thanks for your comment ! Greetings from germany

  • I own a GTD, wish i'd bought a GTI, the common rail diesel drives so like a petrol. very different to the old PD engine in the mk 5 gt sport

  • What's the difference between the GTI and the GTD?

  • @Jmoneyy100 : The GTD is a 170bhp-diesel, the GTI is a pertol-engined car. But the GTD shares many parts with the GTI. It's the most powerful Golf Diesel you can get

  • Great video. What was the fuel consumption on your test :) ? Can you tell me please on the highway let's say max.speed 170 km what would be the consumption?with cruise control. thanks

  • @MrInspektah : Well, I drove very fast all the time and didn't care so much about the fuel, so I ended up with about 8,4 liters on 100 kilometers. Hard to say what it would take at a permanent speed of 170, but I think it would be around 8 to 10 liters maximum, which isn't really alot. Propably even less...Thanks for the comment !

  • great video!

Getestet @ 18" 225 mm

  • I thought is was a frenchman that invented the twin clutch gearbox, But germany managed to get it into their cars first.

  • @Dimitri0809 : I'm talking about this in my review of the 911 Carrera PDK: The frenchman came out with it in 1939 and a german guy in 1940 too. Porsche raced this gearbox in the 80s and VW came back with it in 2003

  • greetings from Turkey, I am driving a skoda yeti 1.2 tsi with a dsg clutch , and I am very happy driving it in Istanbul traffic, thank you vw , thank you skoda.......

  • Wow what a great 'behind the wheel' review! Certainly one of the best and informative I've seen :) I look forward to more :)

  • @USAFPilot623 : haha, I am german, my bad :)

  • I have got a 2010 GTD here in the UK, great car .

  • Love this car

  • Another thing! You already tried the 7 speed DSG, mate? As good as the 6 speed? Thanks!

  • @VanTheManSLB : Yes, I have ! In a Passat 1.4 TSI and it was brilliant ! Infact no difference to this six-speed one in the GTD: Very smooth, very fast shifts and a lot of fun to drive

  • @TheGetawayer Thanks, my friend :) I'm a hardcore manual fan but i'm curious about the DSG and i'm willing to give it a try. Maybe i won't miss the clutch that much :P

It seems good for on/off driving (country roads with the shift in manual vs boring town traffic) and any granny can take all the potencial out of the car, which is great.

    Cheers!

  • For the people in America, it sucks we don't get the GTD but just chip the TDI and u can get 185hp/295tq..so aside from styling its not that big a deal..

  • @TheFreshFilmFactory : Apart from the sound inside the cabin, you might be right...But using a chip also means losing the factory-warranty, which you have to keep in mind if you do this to a new car

  • @TheGetawayer Not necessarily. In America, there is something called the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act which protects us from the dealership just automatically voiding our warranty bc of ecu tune. Basically, if something goes wrong, the dealership has to prove that your ecu tune caused the damage to the engine and also can't claim its a result of damage to some other part, like say the suspension. Also, most of the time they can't detect tune if you reset the program to stock. Some don't even care

  • @TheFreshFilmFactory : That's very interesting, thanks for sharing your knowledge with me! Here in germany most tuner give their own warranties, but the parts need to be inspected and check to be street-legal which can be very tough because we have very strict rules here. I'm always mesmerized by the loud exhausts or blow-off valves that people in the UK or America can drive on their cars. Here in germany the police would hunt you down with those straight away :) Thanks alot for your comment !

  • @TheGetawayer No problem. Modfying your car is always risky but HEY where's the fun in that? I mod the shit out of my car because its MY car. :)

  • @TheFreshFilmFactory : I agree. Maybe I would do the same, but I think the GTD is a great car so or so. Thanks for the comment and sharing your opinion, buddy !

  • wow, dieser review ist echt klasse !

ich würde auch gerne mal den GTD fahren !

vielleicht hol ich mir den mal als Mietwagen für 1 - 2 tage ?!

  • Good detailed review of this automotive pace setter model. I wish it were available stateside. I'd by one this week. Thanks for an excellent video! Love the accent! ~ Nashua, New Hampshire, USA

  • @editorYRU lol i used to live in Amherst, live in Boston now, haha.

  • You have DONE ABSOLUTELY GREAT GREAT REVIEW mate!!! ) I really appreciate your work. Peace from Kosovo.

  • ugly colour for a golf gtd

  • I really like your videos man... i really like the fact that you spent some time talking about the DSG.

    Nice work.

  • 1A !!! It is the best review of this car I have seen in the web. Man, you have done a great job and I thank you for it. It is making the waiting for mine a lot shorter (mid July 2011...

Danke vielmals Gateawayer. Auch sehr gut die Strecke nach Frankestein BUrg.

    Super, mach weiter so.

  • You've done a very good and sensible review! the best way to evaluate a car.

    Thx

  • I would love to own one of these bad boys. It's such a shame that the GTD isn't available for the U.S. market. although even if it was available I would still be without the Euro-spec suspension. I would still buy one though. Great video. You offer way more information in your videos than any other channel does on youtube. Excellent work. You've just earned yourself a new subscriber.
