I have just recently got the Robin Hood Series 2 Boxset and I think it is great so far, and I think it would have been better for the public to not know who the traitor was and for him to always be hooded when talking to Gisborne or walking in Nottingham Town. Then we would all be going 'Who could the traitor be?' And it would be amazing when we find out who because it would have made those first 5 episodes much more better.
I've thought that too. It would have been fun for us to not know who it was, so when we found out, we could go back through and watch Allan for reactions to what happened because of him (like the death of Roger). As long as they didn't discard that scene when Allan was tortured. *wink*
Yes, that would had been a good way of creating the tension.
Also, kinda OT, but I'm in america and only have series 1, you said they have a 'boxset' for series 2? Is it like more features or just a plain regular series 2? Boxset just sounds more packed, I guess. lol
Seeing this again I can't help but think that Robin is acting extremely harsh in this scene, brutal even, towards Allan... Of course we know that he is telling the truth and Robin doesn't, but still, he is very unforgiving and self-righteous - jeez, people make mistakes! I can see where Allan is coming from... But if he just hadn't gone back to Gisborne after this, he might still have had a chance with the gang, once Robin had cooled off... Robin really is bad-tempered! :P
I agree with you there...I think that the producers have done a good job of showing how entitled Robin can be at times. After all, he is "lord of the manor" even if he's an outlaw, and he's used to being in charge. After its over, he'll be a lord again and everyone else will be peasants. This scene goes well with the one in episode 12 when Much is talking about how Robin treats him (much) like a servant and not a friend.
Much is his servant. Lol. But, yeah, I hate how Robin belittles Much! That makes the rest of the gang feel like it's okay to make fun of him and call him dumb, too. I hate when they're mean to Much. He doesn't deserve it.
I think he is worried about Marian. You can't blame him for being severe over the idea that the love of his life might be in danger because of Allan.
Though, yes, I agree that he is very uppity. What can you expect from an earl during feudal England? Nobles had everything, and the poor people worked for them and depended on them.
Thank you so much for uploading this. The first time I watched this on TV, I had chills down my spine. It stayed with me for two days. Def. my fave scene from eppy 5.
I am glad that I'm not the only one who can empaphise with Allan's POV. Even though he did something terrible, he attempted to help Marian in subsequent episode so I believe he is sincere in wanting to be a good guy again (pun unintended).
The two Mr Armstrongs (Joe and Jonas) were both fantastic in this scene. Bravo!
I don't agree on what Allan did but I do understand him. Robin said about everything being a choice but it's not like he ever gave Allan one. Allan always had to do whatever Robin told him and as much as I love Robin Allan was sort of right.
I love Allan's little speech in this scene, it's so spot on. I hope this storyline lasts a while, it's really interesting. And yeah, I definitely can see Allan's point of view in all this.
I really love it when Robin says "Everything is a choice! Everything we do!"
It's so true. I love the Robin Hood series, and I can't get enough of Robin ;)

You're welcome :D I agree Allan is very compelling. I'd hate it if they didn't develop him more.
